“Exploring Vivid Desсrіption and Examples in David Foster Wallace’s ‘This is Water’ Speech”

Week 2 Online Discussion: This is Water
    Purpose
    Why Do This Discussion?
This speech will enhance our understanding of vividly desсrіptive writing and use of example. The topic and content of the speech will also apply directly to our response assignment at the end of the wee.
    Outcomes
Recognize vivid detail and exemplification in desсrіptive writing.
Apply ″awareness″ strategies to your writing experiences.
Evaluate a variety of media and technologies to address a range of audiences.
Describe a variety of rhetorical concepts to analyze and compose a variety of texts.
    Your Initial Post
In 2005, the late contemporary writer, David Foster Wallace, was asked to deliver a commencement speech to the graduates of Kenyon College, a prestigious liberal arts college in Wallace′s home state of Ohio. The speech has come to be one of the most well-known speeches of its genre. While it has even been published in book form, listening to Wallace deliver the speech himself is still the best way to experience it.
This week, we are considering the writing strategies of using vivid desсrіption and example. Wallace draws upon these strategies heavily in order to allow his audience to relate to the points he is making. For this assignment,
    1) Take time to listen to the speech (linked below) and consider his use of example narratives and vivid desсrіptions. 2) Next, answer the prompt (below) in a well-developed paragraph by clicking ″Reply″ and typing your answer here in this discussion thread (target length is 200-300 words).
Prompt: How did Wallace′s use of examples/desсrіption help you better understand his points? What can you take away from this speech that might help you develop your writing? What can you take away that might help you navigate your daily life?
This is a conversation, so please be personable and feel free to share your reactions to the speech!

    Comments & Replies to Classmates
    Comment/Reply requirements:
Before the end of the week (11:59pm Sunday), please read your classmates′ responses and reply to at least two of them, sharing any thoughts, questions, or elaborations you have as you read what they have to say.
Be respectful, kind, and thoughtful in your comments. Grading Criteria
A Grading Rubric will be used to determine points earned for this discussion. To view the rubric, click on the ′3-dot′ icon, usually found on the upper-right-hand area of this discussion page. Then click ′Show Rubric″
    Remember
Don′t lose work! Work offline using a word processing application such as Microsoft Word and then copy/paste your post into the course′s discussion forum.
Be aware that a complete, on-time initial response + 2 replies to classmates will be required for a full score. The replies will comprise 50% of the discussion score.

Technical Brief: Proactive Adversarial Detection Plan for XYZ Organization “Threat Actors: Detection, Response, and Prevention Strategies”

    Overview
One of the three focus projects for this course is creating a technical brief based on the research you’ve conducted. The audience for this brief is the security or IT director for the fictional organization for which you work. This technical brief will serve as the basis for a proactive adversarial detection plan that your director will be creating. The final product represents an authentic demonstration of competency because, as a security analyst, you must develop skills that use a variety of methods and tools to detect, characterize, and counter cyber threat actors. Your work will contribute to larger team projects across your organization. This project will also help you develop an important mindset: thinking responsibly and proactively about what threat actors would do to attack organizational assets.
The project incorporates one milestone, which will be submitted in Module Five. The project will be submitted in Module Seven.
In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course competency:
Develop reliable, ethical methods to detect, characterize, and counter cyber threat actors
    Scenario
In a course announcement, your instructor will provide some scenarios for you to choose from. In your chosen scenario, you are a security analyst, creating a technical brief for the security or IT director explaining how the situation informs the larger proactive adversarial detection plan they are writing for the organization. The specific technical information, results, or determinations you need are supplied within the scenario. Your brief should address each critical element in the Project Three prompt, discussing your best-practice tactics or methods recommendations based on your research from the decision aid you completed as the milestone for this project. The Conclusion section of this activity requires you to expand on all the research you did for the decision aid.
    Prompt
In your technical brief, you must address the critical elements listed below.
IntroductionIdentify your threat actors and characterize their motivations or desired outcomes. Use research from the Project Three resource guide or decision aid to support your response. For example, is the threat actor gathering information for financial gain?
AnalysisDescribe best practices or methods for detecting the threat actors from the scenario. Use research from the Project Three resource guide or decision aid to support your response.
Describe ethical and legal factors that should be considered and their significance in terms of the company for which you are employed in the scenario. Use research from the Project Three resource guide or decision aid to support your response.
Describe at least one tactic or method that is important in responding to and countering this threat actor. Use research from the Project Three resource guide or decision aid to support your response.
Describe at least one tactic or method that would be employed to reduce the likelihood of the same situation happening again. Use research from the Project Three resource guide or decision aid to support your response.
ConclusionExplain the potential ramifications of the tactics or methods you have suggested. Use research from the resource guide or decision aid to support your response.
    What to Submit
Your submission should be approximately 2 pages in length (plus a cover page and references) and should be written in APA format. Use double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Include at least three references, which should be cited according to APA style. Use a file name that includes the course code, the assignment title, and your name—for example, CYB_200_Project_Three_Neo_Anderson.docx.

“The Impact of Food Scarcities on Cognitive Development in Children: A Quantitative Research Study Using Piaget’s Cognitive Development Theory” “Food Scarcity and Cognitive Development in Children: A Comprehensive Study Combining Empirical Research and Piaget’s Theory”

Excellent topic, Piaget and cognitive developmental theory is an appropriate theoretical approach. Regarding your research method, please keep it simple. Since you will be doing a literature review on the topic, perhaps you can focus on handing out your own survey with simple, short questions you want to ask 25 strangers? Or, perhaps you can interview 3 experts on this topic and conduct long interviews where you take notes? Or, perhaps you can interview 10 parents and ask them about what and how often they feed their children and how important they think food is? In short, keep it simple, and pick one method and re-post.
    Thanks!
    My reply Research Method
The study will use the quantitative research methodology to research how food scarcities affect the cognitive development of children aged 0-5, based on Jean Piaget’s cognitive developmental theory. The main components of the methodology will be secondary data analysis and surveys.
Secondary data analysis encompasses the use of existing data collected by other credible and relevant researchers and organizations. The research will analyze large datasets for more accurate and valid results. The secondary data sources that will be used are academic research datasets and government health surveys. The datasets used must be double-checked to ensure they are relevant and comprehensive. Any inconsistencies and errors found will be addressed beforehand. Data will be analyzed using SPSS software, and regression analysis will be used to determine how food scarcity and cognitive development are related. The findings will be interpreted based on Jean Piaget’s cognitive development theory.
A survey will be used to collect primary data. The survey will include questionnaires for participants to fill in to gather information related to the research question. The research will include participants from diverse backgrounds. They will be required to provide honest responses to understand their attitudes concerning food scarcity and cognitive development. All participants must consent to participate in the study, and they will be assured confidentiality of their personal details. A pilot test will be conducted to ensure the questions are pertinent. A reasonable sample size will be selected and analyzed using statistical software. The analysis will include inferential statistics and regression analysis. The findings will be interpreted based on Jean Piaget’s cognitive development theory. The results will be compared with the secondary data analysis results to comprehensively view the study.
    Theoretical Approach
This research study uses Jean Piaget’s cognitive development theory to determine how food scarcities affect the cognitive development of children between the ages of 0 and 5. Piaget’s theory provides a comprehensive framework for the nature and development of human intelligence. He proposed four cognitive development stages in children: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational stage (Pakpahan & Saragih, 2022). The study’s focus will be on sensorimotor (0-2 years) and preoperational (2-7 years). Oogarah-Pratap et al. (2020) highlight that in the sensorimotor stage, children learn to differentiate themselves from objects and develop object permanence. In the preoperational stage, children develop language skills and egocentric thinking and can group objects based on their single attributes. They think using symbols and signs, and they personalize inanimate objects. In most cases, children in this stage struggle to see things from other people’s perspectives but their own.
Proper nutrition is crucial in the sensorimotor and pre-operational stages as it enhances the development of the mind and body. Food scarcity can lead to underdevelopment of the brain and body, limiting the child’s interaction with objects and impairing the sensorimotor skills that they are unable to explore and interact with the environment. Malnutrition in the preoperational stage could lead to delayed language development, which might cause poor communication skills and minimum energy for engaging in symbolic play, which may lead to low cognitive simulation and a low understanding of other people’s opinions. The study will combine empirical research with Piaget’s theory to comprehensively understand how food scarcity affects cognitive development in children aged 0-5 years. The theoretical approach emphasizes the need to solve food scarcity to enhance strong cognitive development in children.
