Service learning integrates meaningful community service and reflection to enhance the learning experience.  Reflect upon the nurse’s role in health promotion that incorporates the significance of service learning. Service learning can help the community obtain needed healthcare services. Nursing shortages in healthcare facilities continue to increase leading to a lack of healthcare providers.  Some contributing factors are fatigue, overwork, and errors.  
Tips:
Students struggle with the terminology of “service learning.” Service learning is learning/educational activities that benefit others and the community. Such as health fairs, educational health announcements, wellness programs, health services, prevention education, etc.  Service learning for this activity is learning activities for a population of people that is paired with structured preparation from a nurse’s point of view.
Discuss the significance of service learning in nursing.
Discuss the nurse’s role in health promotion services to the community.
Reflect on personal experience with service learning in nursing practice. [make something up]
Explore how service learning might help to address the nursing shortage.

The purpose of this assignment is to create a visual map that connects the work of the course (assignments, readings, discussion board, internet reviews , etc.) to all of the objectives specified below. 
Take some time now to mindfully reflect over the assignments, readings, discussion board, and web site exploration activities of the course, Population Health, Epidemiology, and Statistical Principles. Next, take a look at the written directions for the assignment and the rubric for the assignment. You will be constructing a Concept Map that relates (connects) the activities of the course to all of the outcome objectives provided for you in the Requirements section below. 
Requirements
The Concept Map must visually  connect all of the specified objectives  (Program Outcomes, MSN Essentials, and NONPF Competencies) to course work (such as specific discussion board topics, written assignments, exams, lessons, and reading content).     
All items should be labeled, for instance, label the objectives and label the course work you select with name of the assignment/reading/discussion board topic and which week it was introduced.
Use Microsoft Word or a PowerPoint to create a Concept Map. You can use the features found on the “Insert” tab of a Word doc (in the horizontal ribbon on the top of a Word doc page). For instance, if you click on “insert” you will see shapes and SmartArt. You can use a PowerPoint slide with shapes and lines to create a concept/mind map. This is not a PowerPoint presentation , but a PowerPoint slide can be used to “draw” the Map.

Your Concept Map will visually depict how you see the assignments of the course meeting the outcomes above.

In the Module 1 Discussion, you selected an issue in your current practice you feel creates barriers to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care. In this assignment, you will apply what you have learned to create a logic model and an action plan for resolving your issue and implementing the results in practice. The logic model and the action plan will serve as the major components of a Quality Improvement (QI) Action Plan.
As a prelude to this assignment, view the video, The Stevens Star Model of Knowledge Transformation, which depicts how newly discovered knowledge moves into practice. As you complete your assignment, consider how the steps you are taking toward a quality improvement project align with the Stevens Star Model, also known as the Star Model.
Step 1. Review
In Chapter 15 of the Boswell and Cannon text, review Figures 15-2 (p. 352) and 15-3 (p. 356) which show examples of a logic model template and an action plan worksheet used to promote quality improvement in clinical practice.
Step 2. Access
Access the Logic Model Template and the Action Plan Worksheet.
Step 3. Complete
Complete the Logic Model Template and the Action Plan Worksheet for the clinical practice issue you identified in the Module 1 Discussion and as the major components of a Quality Improvement (QI) Action Plan.
Step 4. Introduce
In 1-2 paragraphs, introduce the Quality Improvement (QI) Action Plan, including the completed Logic Model Template and the Action Plan Worksheet for your proposed qualitative or mixed-method research on the selected clinical practice issue.
Step 5. Present
Present the final Quality Improvement (QI) Action Plan, including the Logic Model Template and the Action Plan Worksheet, to an administrator or other appropriate party for feedback and implementation consideration. At the conclusion of the presentation, provide the administrator or other party an original evaluation seeking their opinion as to identified strengths or weaknesses in your plan. Will it be implemented? Why or why not?
Step 6. Reflect
In 1-2 paragraphs, reflect upon your meeting with the administrator or other administrative party to whom you presented your final Quality Improvement Action Plan. Describe how it was received. Reflect on the administrators or other parties response to your evaluation questions (Were there identified strengths or weaknesses in your plan, for example? Will it be implemented? Why or why not?)
Step 7 Submit
Submit an APA-formatted paper of no more than 5 pages in length excluding references and title page including:
Quality Improvement Action Plan paper
Attach your completed  Action Worksheet, Model Template, and  the “ Administrator/other Party evaluation” as appendices.
In your concluding paragraph of your Quality Improvement Action Plan Paper, reflect on:
The process of creating the logic model and action plan,
How your quality improvement project aligns with the Stevens Star Model,
Your overall learning in the course about evidence-based practice (EBP) and quality improvement. 

Identify a specific systems-based practice change and discuss the process of interprofessional collaboration in generating collaborative knowledge to implement the practice change.
Address all parts of the question.
All posts must have at least two references (no older than 5 years).
Use APA format for references (check spelling and grammar). 
Use a word document to address the discussion board question.
