    Your task for this assignment is to choose two recent media articles/stories (newspaper, cnn, online news source, etc.) within the last year that cover different types of criminal offending (i.e. violent, property, drug, financial, etc.) in which you will apply two theories from different schools of thought covered in class. The paper will include a brief description of the crimes covered in the two news stories you selected. You will then proceed to apply two criminological theories of your choice from different schools of thought (for example: learning & control, or deterrence/rational choice & biological/psychological) to these criminal offenses. You will explain the offense from the perspective of one theory, and then from the perspective of the other. What are the strengths and weaknesses of these theories when explaining these specific offense types? You will then develop and provide an argument for which theoretical perspective (or perspectives if you want to choose both) more effectively explains the criminal behavior in each of the chosen news stories and why. The theory application paper should contain the following information: 1. A brief summary of each of the chosen news articles. Each article covering a different type of criminal offense. 2. Application of the theories you chose to explain the criminal behaviors in each story. You will explain the offense using one theoretical perspective and then the other. 3. Provide an argument for which theoretical perspective (or perspectives if you want to choose both) more effectively explains the criminal behavior in each of the chose news stories and why. Make sure to include the strengths/weaknesses of each theoretical perspective to help support your argument. This needs to be more than an opinion. It is an evidence-based argument.     Assessment is a critical component of the instructional planning process and should have a prominent role in the learning process. This means that teachers should plan to integrate multiple forms of assessment and use the data to understand how well their students are learning the content and skills specified by the learning objectives. In this task, you will demonstrate how to plan for alignment between your learning objectives and your assessment plan.
    With a clear set of objectives and assessments in place, you are eady to start planning your lessons. When lesson planning a teacher needs to think about what instruction they need to deliver to their students and what activities their students need to engage in to practice the skills identified by the lesson objectives. So when lesson planning, teachers need to think of their actions and their students’ actions. In this task, you will demonstrate how to plan your instructional moves and learning activities for your students that support the learning outcomes.

    A- Assessment= Therapist thoughts and assessment of client progress and the medical necessity for treatment. Assess barriers to progress or regression. Describe unusual appearance, thinking, and/or behavior. Note changes to diagnosis. 
    P- Plan= What did you do? What do you plan to do? Include therapist in-session Interventions (ex.  “Cognitive reframing, “taught progressive relaxation”), referrals, and homework assigned. Include reminders for planned actions for future sessions and changes to the treatment plan (ongoing lack of progress should lead to a change in the treatment plan. 
    Important: Therapy notes are not a part of the regular patient chart. However, they should be released to patients if it is determined that the contents could be psychologically harmful.

    Read Case Three: Ms. W is a nineteen-year-old unmarried woman pregnant for the third time, having previously had an abortion when fifteen, and a daughter now ten months old. She was admitted to the hospital in the twenty-sixth or -seventh week of gestation and placed on intravenous medications (magnesium sulfate) to stop her preterm labor. Two days later, Ms. W asked her physician, Dr. C, to discontinue the medications because she was “tired of being in the hospital and the medications and the fetus were too painful and uncomfortable.” Dr. C explained that the potential risks of premature delivery include: respiratory immaturity, intraventricular hemorrhage, neurologic handicaps, and even fetal death. He advised her to continue the medications for two to three more weeks to give the fetus more time to mature. These critical weeks would enhance the fetus’s chances of survival (from 50 percent at twenty-six weeks’ gestation to 90 percent at thirty week’s gestation) and decrease morbidity, reducing the risk of chronic lung disease (from 50 percent at twenty-six weeks to 20 percent at thirty weeks’ gestation) and neurologic handicaps later on in life.
    Ms. W continued to refuse treatment, and a psychiatry consult was obtained. Ms. W was found to be extremely immature, emotionally labile and unrealistic, to have a very poor social situation (battered by family members), to have sometimes had suicidal ideas, to have used illegal drugs in the past (but not recently) and to have a longstanding personality disorder (histrionic personality). Meanwhile she continued to refuse the medication to stop labor and threatened to leave the hospital.
    Dr. C contemplates three options: Respect Ms. W’s wishes and risk delivering a very premature fetus who may expire or may survive and be handicapped secondary to prematurity and its complications; refuse to abide by her wishes, but transfer care to a physician who is willing to do so; refuse to abide by her wishes and try to obtain a court order to force Ms. W to undergo treatment.
