    OVERVIEW: It is established that adopting an approach to learning that involves deeper processing of information tends to produce better learning outcomes than approaches to learning that involve surface processing of information (e.g., Biggs et al., 2022; Salamonson et al., 2013). A deep approach to learning is one in which the learner is intrinsically motivated to learn and understand as much as they can about a topic (i.e., beyond just the essentials required to pass an assignment), whereas a surface approach to learning is one in which the learner aims to understand only the essential elements of a topic and expends minimal effort in doing so. There are many factors that determine whether someone adopts a deep or surface approach to their learning, including learners’ perceptions of the learning environment, the learning environment itself, and individual characteristics of the learner themselves (Baeten et al., 2010). It is the latter of these factors we are focusing on in this assignment, specifically students’ personality and intelligence characteristics as predictors of deep and surface approaches to learning. For your assignment, you will write a lab report that addresses the question of which Big Five personality traits and/or intelligence are most strongly associated with deep and surface approaches to learning, respectively, among first-year university students. One hundred and ninety participants (78.8%) identified as female and 49 (20.3%) identified as male. Two participants elected not to disclose their gender identity. The final sample of N = 241 participants represented 67.32% of the entire cohort of students enrolled in the unit. Measures Gender (Female, Male) and Age information was collected for sample characterisation. Age was also required for calculating participants’ age-adjusted Verbal Comprehension Index score. Study Process Questionnaire (Biggs et al., 2001) The revised, 2-factor version of the Study Process Questionnaire (SPQ) was used to measure participants’ approach to learning. The SPQ measures approaches to learning using two 10-item subscales (‘deep’ and ‘surface’ approaches to learning, respectively). An example item for the ‘surface’ scale is “I generally restrict my study to what is specifically set as I think it is unnecessary to do anything extra”. Participants indicate their responses on a 5-point Likert-type scale ranging from 1 (“this item is never or only rarely true of me”) to 5 (“this item is always or almost always true of me”). Higher scores on each of the subscales correspond to greater levels of deep and surface approaches to learning, respectively. Australian Personality Inventory (Murray et al., 2009) The Australian Personality Inventory (API) was used to measure the Big Five personality factors. The API is a 50-item measure of the ‘Big five’ personality factors – Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness. Participations are asked to rate themselves on a 5-point scale according to how accurately each statement applies to them from 1 (very inaccurate) to 5 (very accurate). An example item is “Feel comfortable around people” (Extraversion). Verbal Comprehension Index (Wechsler, 2008) The Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI) from the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) was used to measure intelligence. The VCI score is based on three subscales that assess abstract verbal reasoning, vocabulary, and general knowledge. Scores are age standardised and normed to have a population mean of 100 and standard deviation of 15. Procedure All participants read and signed the Participant Information and Consent Form (PICF) to indicate their consent to participate in the study. The PICF informed them of their rights as volunteers not to participate in the study and that they could cease their participation at any time without explanation during the course of their participation. Participants could also request that their questionnaire responses and VCI test scores be withdrawn from the study at any time. Consenting participants completed the SPQ and API in Week 1 of the teaching semester. They then completed the VCI subscales individually under the supervision of a postgraduate student undertaking a Masters in Psychology program. The postgraduate students also scored the VCI as part of their postgraduate training. Questionnaire responses and test scores were combined and de-identified prior to analysis

    Objectives and Deliverables’ Clarity and Alignment: The A&D High Tech project should have required a precise scope description.  The objectives and deliverables of the project must be thoroughly described. If there had been more clarity, everyone involved—including the project team—would have known exactly what needed to be done. In our case, scope creep and changes were made possible by the lack of such clarity, which made matters worse. As the project manager for recovery, I might have reduced the likelihood of uncontrollable changes by using a solid scope definition to assess if suggested changes aligned with the project’s original goals.
    Setting Limitations and Milestones: In the context of the A&D High Tech project, milestones and constraints must be included in a comprehensive scope statement. Milestones have a significant impact on the project’s schedule, while restrictions define what is specifically outside of the project’s purview. The absence of well-defined milestones contributed to our lack of openness and oversight. In contrast, with a clearly defined scope statement and specific milestones, as a project manager, I could have monitored my work and detected issues sooner. Furthermore, establishing explicit exclusions and constraints would have prevented unneeded alterations to the initial plan, such as the addition of promotional items that weren’t supposed to be included.
    Methods for Precise Cost and Time Estimation: In the instance of the A&D High Tech project, these are essential. In our case, inaccurate estimating led to schedule delays and budget overruns. Using estimate techniques such as bottom-up estimating or comparable estimating could have resulted in more accurate forecasts. If I had had access to trustworthy estimates, I could have created a fair budget and schedule in my capacity as a recovery project manager. Better resource allocation would have been achievable as a result, and our project’s financial and scheduling issues would have been averted.
    As the project manager responsible for recovery for the A&D High Tech project, I can attest that a well-crafted recovery scope statement that included precisely defined objectives, deliverables, milestones, limits, and reasonable estimations would have been crucial in averting the project’s collapse. With a strong basis for effective project management, the project would have been on schedule, stayed within budget, and accomplished its intended goals.

    In terms of estimation methods, a combination of expert judgment, analogous estimation, and parametric estimation could have been used for the A&D High Tech project (Kloppenborg, 2019). Expert judgment involves consulting industry experts or experienced professionals to estimate project durations and costs based on their expertise and past experiences.     4. Limits and Exclusions Recommendations: 
    Limits could have included constraints such as budget constraints or resource limitations, while exclusions could have specified what is not included in the project scope, such as certain customizations beyond the core functionality of the online store.
    Setting clear limits and exclusions would have helped manage stakeholders’ expectations and prevent scope creep.
    Expert judgment could have been utilized to assess the potential impact of limits and exclusions on project duration and cost.

    “Gerrymandering in Action: A Simulation and Application in Texas” “Creating a Fair and Balanced Gerrymander: Finding the Middle Ground” Goal for Gerrymander: To create a fair and balanced district map that accurately represents the diverse population of Texas and promotes equal representation for all groups. Step 1: Gathering

    PART 1 (Election/Engagement Component — about 75% of your grade)
    FIRST, complete the gerrymandering strategy game (through Level 20) available here: GerryManderLinks to an external site.
    The game is a little wonky — you’ll start simply, trying to make territories of 3 houses. It jumps to territories of 4 and then 5 houses/buildings without any explanation that I’ve seen, so if it stops letting you make groups of three, try 4, and then 5 when groups of 4 stop working.
    Upload a screen shot of the last level you completed, up to level 20 (there are more levels beyond 20, but that’s what I did in a reasonable amount of time and was plenty to prove you get the ideas of cracking and packing.) If you accidentally go past level 20, just screen shot what you are on so long as it shows your current level. So if you accidentally move past what you need and end up on level 26. You can screen shot showing the 26 and I’ll know you had to go through level 20 to get there.
    SECOND, make use of a district mapping program to draw Congressional districts for the state of Texas. My favorites mapping programs or websites are DistrictrLinks to an external site., Dave’s Redistricting SiteLinks to an external site., and DistrictBuilderLinks to an external site.. Each has pros and cons. I think Districtr is my favorite for students because it does NOT require you to create an account, and it is detailed without being too overwhelming.
    Depending on the program you choose, there may be settings ready to go for Texas — but if not, Texas has 38 seats in the US House of Representatives. Develop a map of Texas that has 38 Congressional districts mapped out, where each district is approximately the same size. (Pro tip, each district should be about 767,000 people). For our purposes, no district you draw should have more than 850,000 people, nor fewer than 700,000 people. You should follow other laws — districts must be contiguous (connected) and the whole state must be covered. Compactness is appreciated, but not as enforceable as you might think.
    To submit your map, zoom out to show me a good portion of the state (or even the whole state). Be sure you open the data showing your different districts and their population sizes, that’s what I’m looking for. Include as much of the relevant data as you can, but it may not all fit. That’s okay. Take a screenshot or a picture of your screen showing the map and data..
    PART 2 (Public Opinion & Groups Components — about 25% of your grade)
    Redistricting is about creating territories of similar population, and Madison suggests that the best districts are location-based communities — cities, counties, etc. with an eclectic mix of population. In the present, however, we have sufficient information to craft districts by other criteria and with particular goals in mind. When we craft districts for political or social motivations, we call that gerrymandering.
    Make use of your district mapping program (or switch if you want, you do you). Develop an additional map for Texas using 38 US House Districts.
    Your first map was to get familiar with the tool and the data available. Your second map must be a gerrymander. Since the Texas Lege has already provided us an example of a gerrymander designed mainly to benefit incumbents (and a bit to boost Republican representation), that’s the only thing you cannot design (Caveat: if you can find a way to pull more republican leaning districts than the approved maps, you may do so — they have 24 republican-leaning districts, beat that and you can do a Repub gerrymander and probably get paid nicely to do this as a career). Identify what group you want to boost — Democrats would be the easy flip side (it’s a game and not real, so you don’t have to feel dirty about helping the Libs… I won’t tell your peoples.) You can gerrymander to privilege based on race/ethnicity, or based on urban/rural. You can gerrymander to create close, competitive districts where both parties must really fight for the middle ground. The only real limitation would be the data you have available and that it is a population of enough people that it is possible to draw districts. Even if I have data of the whereabouts of every circus performer who lives in Texas, I’m not sure there are hundreds of thousands of them in the state — so I just don’t have enough of them to gerrymander them into a single district to elect the first real clown into Congress.
    You must tell me your goal for your gerrymander, then you need to make it happen. IF YOU DO NOT TELL ME THE GOAL FOR YOUR GERRYMANDER, IT IS NOT ACTUALLY A GERRYMANDER! The mapmaking tools all have options like “Evaluate” or “Analyze” that will let you see data on how many of your districts would likely vote blue, or have an hispanic majority, etc. Whatever data shows your gerrymander in action is what I want open. Zoom in or out on the map to show it off how you’d like it to be seen. Take that screenshot! Ditto above — good faith attempts should get full credit. Exploring the Public Opinion elements and using the public data to produce your groups will net you credit on these elements of the rubric. Also please note that consideration for any “advanced understanding” ratings on the rubric will only happen if you complete a successful gerrymander.

Because so much of math is sequential, you can’t move onto the next concept until you know all children are grounded in this knowledge and you want to ensure you are supporting the students who need additional help. Choose one of these packaged materials. The class is an ICT class of 25-32 children. Create a supplementary lessons. You may choose to split the class in levels with those needing extra help addressed in one lesson or you may choose a full class lesson with differentiated guided practice and independent/small group practice that help all students get to where they need to be. Consider what we know about differentiation and what we know about mathematical thinking and include what you’ve read about math in the previous module. You may use some materials laid out in the packaged curriculum but there should be pedagogy and methods of learning what children know and can do other than the material/worksheets provided.
