Assignment
Write
a logical division essay answering the question below. Describe your country’s culture or ethnic identity.
You must analyze
it by logical division, and the characteristics must be significant.  Choose one of the patterns for logical
division below:

Aspect: Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages only
All developing
paragraphs must follow the same logical division. In order words, if you choose
time, do not switch to aspect. If you chose to describe one advantage and one
disadvantage of this cultural aspect, the same support and order must be
followed in all three body paragraphs.
The answer should
not be about your personal identity
but rather your general cultural or ethnic identity. For example, what
are the characteristics of Russian people? Or what does it mean to be a
Mexican? The focus of the essay is not you personally, but the cultural or
ethnic group that you belong to. Therefore, you should not have to use the personal pronoun “I” too many times in
your essay (except for some examples). The essay “The Cultures of
Kenya” I attachn the file below. is a good example of an essay that describes a
cultural identity.
Just like role
models, you must explain qualities or characteristics of your cultural
identity. DO NOT discuss superficial or obvious qualities like
food, clothing, or holidays. Instead, focus on behavior, inner
qualities (think about the qualities of role models on p. 8-9 in your book),
values (what is important to the people), and beliefs that are much more meaningful. Think critically and deeply.

list for it. Discuss your ideas
in the Thesis Discussion forum and decide if you want to add or delete any

Create an outline that
has:

A thesis statement. Make sure it has a topic and a controlling
idea, and that the parts of the controlling idea are parallel. Make sure
you also use the vocabulary for logical division. 
Use these words period, stage, district, region, zone, aspect, characteristic, element, feature, quality

Three topic
sentences. Make sure each sentence has cohesion
with the thesis statement. (See p. 61)

When
you receive a voice comment from me, listen to my
comments. Take notes – it will help you! Considering the feedback,
write your first draft, which should
contain your thesis statement, three body paragraphs, and a one-sentence
concluding summary. Focus on the content, making sure that each topic sentence
is well developed with specific supporting ideas (detailed explanations and examples only). Step 6
Submit your rough draft to Canvas. Step 7
When
you receive verbal feedback from me, listen to my verbal
comments and revise accordingly. However, don’t just focus on areas that
I commented on. Use adjectives, noun modifiers, prepositional phrases,
and adjective clauses to include
information that is more specific (see p. 66-71). Write an introduction (see p. 63-64) and a conclusion (see p. 100) for your essay. Combine the introduction,
body paragraphs and conclusion to make one
cohesive essay. Give a title to
your essay (see p. 24). Consider how you can improve your essay even on your own. Look at “Essay
#1 Checklist” in Canvas to see if you have included all the criteria.
Step 8
Visit the WRC (online) and discuss your essay with a tutor. The
tutor’s job is not to make it perfect, but to help you make general
improvements to the essay. You will need to let me know who your tutor was at
the end of your final draft (please look below for instructions).
Step 9
When you are satisfied with the content and organization of the
essay, proofread the paper for any grammar,
word choice, punctuation and mechanical errors. Pay special
attention to:

adjectives, noun modifiers ·      
adjective clauses ·      
sentence structure
·      
·      
verb tense
·      
subject/verb agreement
Also, try to use more advanced
vocabulary. I encourage you to get your essay checked by a native-speaking tutor before submitting the final
draft, but avoid getting too much help.
Do not let him/her word or write sentences for you. Remember if the paper does not represent your own writing ability,
you will get an automatic 0.
