We are composing a researched argument essay (about 2 pages) about minimum wage. Your job is to identify an issue associated with minimum wage and make one clear point that is supported by information from your sources. In the end, a researched argument is your opinion supported by information from credible sources.
Introduction
You can use the intro you composed in drafting assignment #1. The intro aims to emphasize why the topic is important, supply background information (cited), and lead to the thesis. Your intro should be 1/2 to 3/4 page in length.
Thesis: Use the thesis you composed in drafting assignment #1. Your thesis is the ONE idea you want to convey to your reader. For our assignment, we want to place the thesis at the end of the intro. We want a one-sentence thesis.
Body Paragraph
Your essay will feature one body paragraph that works as support for your thesis. You can use the body paragraph you composed in drafting assignment #2.
Be sure to begin with a topic sentence that relates back to your thesis.
You must use at least two of your sources in your body paragraph.
Feature paraphrasing and cite using a signal phrase or a parentheticalLinks to an external site.
Your body paragraph should be about 3/4 to 1 page.
Conclusion
Compose a one-paragraph conclusion to your essay. Consider finishing the story you began in the introduction or using one of the ideas from the conclusion you composed in drafting assignment #3.
I DO NOT want a summary in the conclusion. Restate the thesis, if you must, but a conclusion can do more than summarize and I promise I will remember what was written a few paragraphs earlier.
Your conclusion should be about 1/2 a page.
Works Cited Page
Compose an entry for each source used in your essay. Your works cited page should include two sources.
Grading:
5 points: intro is developed with specific, verifiable facts and details (your experience and/or info from a source)

“Comparative Analysis of Spenser’s Amoretti LXVII and Brooks’ “my dreams, my works, must wait till after hell””
Length: A typical essay with a short introduction, three body paragraphs, and a short conclusion is about
1250 words (about 4-5 pages, double-spaced). An essay <1000 words cannot pass, and please do not exceed 1500 words.Task: Perform a comparative analysis of any two of the poems listed on page two to prove a single thesis. Your argument should be based on your own interpretation of the primary texts, which you should illustrate through careful analysis of the poems’ formal features and well-integrated quotations. • Rather than simply observing that the two poems consider a similar topic or use a similar technique, and then discussing each poem separately, you should draw on aspects of each poem to illuminate aspects of the other. Try to implicitly answer the question, “What can we observe by looking at these poems together that we could not learn if we looked at them individually?” • The essay should offer a specific and sustained engagement with some of the formal features discussed in class (for example, genre, meter, rhyme, stanza structure, figurative language, and rhetorical figures). Beyond just name-dropping literary devices or techniques, try to specify why that device is useful or how it operates in the poems. Amoretti LXVII: Like as a Huntsman BY EDMUND SPENSER Like as a huntsman after weary chase, Seeing the game from him escap'd away, Sits down to rest him in some shady place, With panting hounds beguiled of their prey: So after long pursuit and vain assay, When I all weary had the chase forsook, The gentle deer return'd the self-same way, Thinking to quench her thirst at the next brook. There she beholding me with milder look, Sought not to fly, but fearless still did bide: Till I in hand her yet half trembling took, And with her own goodwill her firmly tied. Strange thing, me seem'd, to see a beast so wild, So goodly won, with her own will beguil'd. my dreams, my works, must wait till after hell BY GWENDOLYN BROOKS I hold my honey and I store my bread In little jars and cabinets of my will. I label clearly, and each latch and lid I bid, Be firm till I return from hell. I am very hungry. I am incomplete. And none can tell when I may dine again. No man can give me any word but Wait, The puny light. I keep eyes pointed in; Hoping that, when the devil days of my hurt Drag out to their last dregs and I resume On such legs as are left me, in such heart As I can manage, remember to go home, My taste will not have turned insensitive To honey and bread old purity could love. -

How the Final Essay Works:
1) Choose one to two class texts (books/literature and films) that you want to focus on in your critical literary and film analysis. You will dig deeply into these texts: using many examples in the language and imagery to make your points and arguments. Think LITERARY analysis. Do not gloss over these texts. You need to bring in many specific examples to “show” the reader and not “tell.” Reread the literary and rewatch your film texts. You will pick up so many points and examples that will enhance this essay!!! Do not generalize or summarize. Be specific with concrete examples from the literature and films.
2) Focus on one environmental issue and how it works in the texts you are analyzing in this essay. Bring in your secondary research when you discuss the environmental issue (be sure to cite your sources). You “may” draw on two or three issues if it makes sense (i.e water issues and climate, or toxic water pollution; or ecofeminism and climate; or environmental racism and climate–check in with me about this). Remember, whatever environmental issue you focus on, it has to DIRECTLY connect to the literary or film text.
3) You may/should bring in your own experience/voice as it ties into the topic you are writing about in the essay. But it must FIT directly and clearly into the thesis of your essay. For example: if you have had an experience with cancer in your family and a probably link to nuclear radiation–this fits with Welcome to Shirley; if you have lost women in your family to breast cancer — this connects to Refuge: An Unnatural History; if you have experienced environmental racism, or patriarchal oppression (ecofeminism)–these would fit with Parable; or if you have personal experiences or fears about climate change, this fits with climate in Parable, -

Personalized Research and Assessment Glossary
Vocabulary has been linked to academic, reading, and writing success in the post-secondary setting. Language and terminology development are essential to effectively reading and understanding subject-area-specific material (special education peer-reviewed journals, research, etc.). Research has shown that vocabulary development is most effective when one constructs their own meaning (even at the doctoral level) and a visual representation of terms or concepts. Throughout this course, you have explored important words, topics, and concepts and have perhaps encountered terms with which you are unfamiliar. This assignment will require you to identify and wrestle with personal meanings of those terms. As a result, you will acquire an understanding of the terminology, as well as a diagnostic self-monitoring tool. The glossary you create for this assignment will represent your journey in this course.
Instructions
Compile a list of 10 terms to explore. Five terms must be related to assessment; the other five must be related to research.
Do not include terms that are: Related to quantitative, qualitative, or single-subject research design Quality indicators
Repeated terms
Use the provided Personalized Research and Assessment Glossary Template to complete your exploration of each term. Each term’s template chart should begin on a new page.
Each term’s template chart should incorporate citations from at least two scholarly journals.
Ensure your answers for each prompt meet the minimum word count requirement noted. Provide a word count for each section where requested. If a prompt or section does not have a word count listed within the question, it does not have a word count requirement.
All references should be included on the last page of the template in current APA format
