  • Title: Challenging My Biases on Screen Addiction: A Critical Analysis of an Opinion Essay

Written Assignment 5 will give you an opportunity to practice what you have learned about the cognitive biases all of us have–and how to work through them.
Your topic is going to be screen addiction. Next, find an article or opinion essay on your topic from a reputable online source. Your task is to find an article or essay that challenges your thinking on the topic in some way because the goal for this assignment is for you to challenge your biases.
In a short response essay of approximately 600 to 800 words, explore the biases you have on this issue using the following essay structure as your guide.
First, in a short introduction, share the article you chose, how you found it, and why you chose it. Then, in your body paragraphs, respond to the following questions:
What did you already think about this topic before reading the article?
Where did you get that information? Tell the story of how you came to think what you think about this controversial issue.
How do your experiences align with or disconnect from the point of view presented in the article? What about the article challenged your current beliefs?
Finally, try to put yourself into someone else’s shoes who might disagree with you on this issue. What might they say about this issue? What points might they make that seem the most reasonable to you, even if you still disagree with them? Don’t bring it back to your side. Just summarize what you think the other side might think. In this way, you will be forced to consider that side without feeling an urge to disagree with it.
In your conclusion, reflect on the process of digging into these tough questions. What are some of the benefits of this kind of process? Be sure to provide an APA reference for your chosen article at the end of your response essay.

    My info to enter:
    Part B:
I did have a passion for writing when I was younger, l used to write creative stories all the time. Online too. As I’ve gotten older I kind of fell out of writing but I still remember that excitement I used to get when my teacher would tell us we were doing a creative writing project. For reading, I have always loved to read. As a child I struggled with reading and went to reading class for a little bit. I love how reading will take you to another world and I love the fantasy that reading brings. I used to go to the library as a child and check out a bunch of books every few weeks or so. Reading is a passion I still have to this day.
    Part C:
The program would benefit me because I am currently a teacher and this program allows me to keep doing the job I love while going to school to further my career and my knowledge about teaching. The program would benefit my goals because I have been hearing from my colleagues how COVID really impaired a lot of students literacy and are below level in reading and literacy. In my career, I want my students to have the
opportunity to find the love of reading for themselves like I did when I was around their age.
Having this degree would allow me to have knowledge of how to teach children to read and also benefit my educator career because it makes me more informed and able to teach kids to the extent they deserve. I would love to be able to bring the passion for reading and writing that I had at their age and give it to them and this program would only help me to do that.
