INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREATING ENGAGING INTERVIEW QUESTIONS FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES IN THE USVI
OBJECTIVE: DEVELOP A SET OF IN-DEPTH AND ENGAGING INTERVIEW QUESTIONS TAILORED TO LOCAL BUSINESSES IN THE USVI. THE GOAL IS TO HIGHLIGHT THEIR SUCCESS STORIES, FOCUSING ON EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES AND UNIQUE BUSINESS PRACTICES.

Steps to Follow:
Research Each Business:Visit the provided websites and read any available articles or profiles about the business.
Take notes on key aspects such as the business’s history, mission, product offerings, and any unique features or stories.
Identify Key Themes:Focus on themes such as the business’s origin story, customer experience, challenges and solutions, and future plans.
Note any specific events or milestones that stand out and could provide interesting talking points.
Craft Warm-Up Questions:Develop 2-3 questions to ease the interviewee into the conversation. These should be straightforward and open-ended to help them feel comfortable.
Example: “Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to start [business name]?”
Highlight Unique Stories and Experiences:Create questions that encourage the interviewee to share unique and memorable experiences.
Example: “Can you share a memorable story from the early days of your business?”
Dive into Customer Experience:Formulate questions that explore how the business prioritizes and enhances customer satisfaction.

Ethical Essay Description

Essay Topics
Choose ONE of these topics to write essay.
1- Abortion was legalized in the U.S. in January 1973 by the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. Wade ruling. In 1976    the U.S. Supreme Court also ruled that fathers have no rights over a child in the womb; that is, wives are not required to notify their husbands before seeking an abortion. In certain places in the world, such as China and India, it’s economically more profitable to have boys than girls. Women are considered burdens because, when getting married, their parents must send them away to their husbands with a large sum of money. Thus a woman may seek an abortion simply because the fetus is a girl. Research this issue and argue whether or not you think abortion is moral or immoral and should remain legal or be made illegal.
2- The death penalty is the infliction of death by the state as punishment for a crime. As of 2011, more than two-thirds of all countries had abolished the death penalty in law or in practice, including all western Europe, Canada, Australia, and most Central American, South American, and African countries. The United States is the only Western democracy that still uses the death penalty. Research this issue and argue whether or not you think the death penalty is moral or immoral and should remain legal or be made illegal.
3- The internet allows people to view sexual violence without having to leave the comfort of their homes. There are more than 4 million pornographic websites. It is a $ 12 billion industry. The largest consumers of internet pornography are teenagers; 80% of 15 to 17 year-olds have had multiple hard-core pornography exposures. Males are much more likely than females to visit pornography sites. Is pornography harmful to society? Research this issue and decide if you think pornography is immoral and should be made illegal or not. 
4- Between 1982 and 2012, there were 62 mass murders in the United States with a combined loss of almost 1,000 lives. Among the most notable incidents were those in Tucson, Arizona; Fort Hood, Texas; Columbine, Colorado; and Newtown, Connecticut where most of the victims were little children. More recently, there has been a mass shooting in a club in Orlando that claimed the lives of 49 people and one in Las Vegas that claimed the lives of 58 people. What do think are the primary causes of mass shootings? Is it gun ownership, mental health, video game violence? Research this issue and argue whether or not banning guns will decrease mass shootings in the United States. 
5- In the United States physician-assisted suicide is legal in 5 states only if the patient is suffering from a terminal illness or an incurable disease; whereas in some European countries people suffering from depression, anorexia, blindness, and multiple personality disorder can be deemed candidates for physician-assisted suicide. Is this wrong? Should it be legal? Research this issue and decide if you think physician-assisted suicide is moral or immoral and therefore should be made legal or remain illegal. 
6- Genetic engineering is the introduction of new genes or the manipulation of the genetic code to correct a defective gene or to enhance the genetic code. Once we understand what genes code for what traits, we will be able to design our babies to our own specifications. Parents soon will be able to choose both physical (sex, height, skin, hair, eye color) and mental characteristics (intelligence, athleticism) of their children. This is called designer babes. Research this issue and decide if you think designer babies are moral or immoral and should be made legal or illegal.

Assignment Content
After reading August Wilson’s Fences and reviewing the Elements of Literature handout provided, write a two page essay exploring how one of the elements of literature contributed to Wilson’s development of a central theme in his play and the way in which it impacted you as a member of the audience. Be mindful that this is a brief essay, so you must remain tightly focused on your subject, perhaps limiting yourself to a single impactful moment in the play in which the central theme made was intensely felt by you through use of an element of literature, a scene that made strong use of that particular element.
This essay is to be written in MLA style, with proper in-text citations, a Works Cited page, the four line heading, the header with your last name and page number in the upper right hand corner of each page, double-spaced, in Times New Roman 12. It must be uploaded as a Word docx or PDF. No other manner of turning the assignment in will be accepted.

Choose one of your favorite songs that you can find two forms for.   This might be reading the lyrics and then listening to the actual song.  You might also listen to the song and then watch the video.  Now really investigate and analyze the impact of the different forms on the reader/listener/viewer. 
Questions you might consider include:
Does the meaning stay the same in the different forms?
Which form is better?
Why were certain choices made (such as certain musical accompaniment or repeating a certain phrase)?
What would YOU have done differently as you developed the song from written lyrics, to actual song, to video?
Basically have fun with analyzing how (and if) form changes the meaning for and impact on the reader/listener/viewer.

Your response must be a minimum of 200 words.  Please put your response directly into your discussion reply so that fellow students can easily read it without needing to open an attachment.  

Please put together all the documents into one big paper that flows as a research article in APA format.
Include your 10 articles reviews as an appendix. Please include your 10 articles that you reviewed from Week 1 and Week 2 as appendix. This appendix should also be in APA format. please polish your manuscript one last time before submitting.
For your graph, you will want to graph it in a cumulative fashion. For your statement of problem highlight some prevalence statistics on socially significant problems this technology can address.

Your research paper must discuss a total of 10 unique diseases encountered in veterinary medicine. A list is provided in the following paragraphs that outlines diseases you may select as research topics.
When selecting your 10 diseases, please take into account the following criteria.

Research Paper
The research paper must be done with a word processing program such as Microsoft Word, using an easy-to-read, size 12 font.
The title page should contain the following information:

Your name and student number
The date you submit the project
Use correct spelling, grammar, and sentence and paragraph structure. This includes the use of proper medical terminology as well as introductory and closing paragraphs.
The research paper should include at least five references. The information must be supported by trusted veterinary medical publications and websites.
For assistance in writing a research paper and citing references, refer to your previous English Composition and Information Literacy study materials, the Penn Foster Library, and the Purdue OWL website. References must be listed in APA format.
PowerPoint Presentation
Refer to your Computer Applications study material for information on preparing a PowerPoint presentation.
Summarize the important points of your research paper as a PowerPoint presentation.
Use a title slide with the same information as your research paper title page.
Slide content should follow the same order as your research paper content. A slide with your references should also be included at the end.
Make sure the content is concise, easy to read, and easy to interpret. Don’t crowd information on a slide.
Your PowerPoint must include pictures, graphs, tables, or other visuals to help illustrate the conditions being discussed. On slides with images, be sure to have a citation indicating the image’s source.
This presentation should not be a copy of your research paper. Summarize the information.
Grading Criteria 

This is the final Module 2 assignment: you are writing ONE rhetorical analysis that is 3 pages in length, double-spaced, MLA format. Please try to keep your paper right around 3 pages.
You are required to do the following:
Watch two (2) other students’ Final Videos (you can and should watch more, but you are only using TWO for this assignment).
Analyze these students’ ethos in their videos. Watch the videos and try to identify places in these talks where the students establish credibility with their audience. Ethos pertains to the ethical argument, so when we say “credibility” we mean that the audience sees or hears the speaker say or do something that seems ethical, and encourages us to trust him or her. The “ethical” part of this appeal pertains quite specifically to a sense of goodwill or moral character, an encouraging tone — ethos is often called the character argument. What this means is you are not only looking for “good research” or “knowledge” as a means to think the speaker has ethos or credibility. Instead, look for the values that he or she conveys, the tone that clarifies that the speaker cares about something important, shows a moral character, a sense of goodwill, etc. In a 3 page paper, in MLA format, including a very short introduction paragraph, analyze these two students’ ethical arguments that help to make their Presentation Videos successful. If you identify some flaws in their ethos, you can clarify that, as well. If you have quotes from the videos, that’s great, but you can also simply refer to specific examples from their speeches that establish ethos (or undermine ethos). This is due Tuesday 4/16 @11:59pm
Again, how does one establish credibility with an audience? Here is the insight you need: rather than talking just about research, which actually overlaps with logos, you need to address the elements of the speaker’s character argument, which is really what ethos is all about. This amounts to his or her passion, his or her interest in this important topic (which he/she has made interesting), which speaks to the speaker’s values. I explained this above.
I really want you to explore that part of your peers’ Lecture or Ted Talk in this 3 page paper.
For you to receive full points on this rhetorical analysis, you need to develop your understanding of ethos. This is important insight. Your developed understanding of ethos will also play into Module 4, help you better execute that analysis: so this paper is a head-start on our final Module.
Can you mention logos or pathos in this paper? Sure, but make sure you connect this to the speaker’s ethos. For example, if the student does have a really well researched speech, you can explain how this depth of understanding or knowledge adds to their passion to investigate and add clarity to some of the confusion, or the research illustrates the speaker’s advocacy, which translates to concern/passion/reinforced values. Again, you have to touch on the ethical, or moral character development in their speech. With pathos, if you sense that the speaker touches on an emotional subject, this very well might be pathos as this makes the audience emotional and more receptive to the argument. But you can say that this ability to touch the reader emotionally also connects to the speaker’s values, how he or she probably feels the same way, thus illustrating his or her values ( = character). Pathos = audience’s emotion and Ethos = speaker’s or author’s emotions. But you can see how these relate. I hope that helps.
This 3-page paper is worth 20 points, but you can see that I will be calculating your entire Module 2 grade in this assignment.
Indeed, your final grade and feedback for all of Module 2 will be in this assignment. I have always done this Module/Project this way.

Interpretation – This is the introduction to your paper. You will explain your topic and introduce your thesis and topic in one or two paragraphs.

You will give a full analysis of the situation (in this case totally reflecting on the Parker reading and the question(s) you were asked to explore) and present a strong argument about it. You may use your reading as a reference if appropriate, but mostly your personal interpretation is the key for this paper. You may present both sides of the argument if you wish.
Evaluation – The Evaluation section provides an opportunity to critically examine the facts and/or arguments used. Evaluate the situation citing specific examples to support your statements. You also can present the other side of the argument if you choose and tell which side you believe would be strongest. In this case study you will not use outside resources.
Summarize – Give a Final Summary of your thoughts. This section will be a couple of paragraphs.
The paper should be 12-font and double-spaced with a single-spaced heading.
