  • Needs Analysis for a Specialized Strength and Conditioning Program for Athletes in the Sport of Soccer

    The Needs Analysis for your sport/athlete (You will need to
    be able to answer all of the following questions in each topic with complete sentences
    (paragraph format) and provide citations/references when requested)
    Training Status: 10 points
    Provide a well-developed description of your sport. What about this sport makes it
    athletic?
    Provide the gender of your sport/athlete(s)?
    How many years of RT experience do they have?
    What is their level of sport experience or level of play, etc?
    Answer the question …Why would a specialized strength and conditioning program be
    beneficial for these athletes? (provide a minimum of 2 separate citations/references from
    a scholarly source to support this answer)
    Movement Analysis: 10 points (this section requires a minimum of 2 separate
    citations/references from a scholarly source)
    Provide a well-developed, general description of a biomechanical/kinesthetic analysis of
    a common movement pattern in the sport (only need one complete pattern).
    Provide the major muscles/muscle groups used and what actions they perform.
    Provide the planes of motion that are included in the movement pattern.
    Physiological Analysis: 10 points (this section requires a minimum of 2 separate
    citations/references from a scholarly source)
    Begin by discussing the need for general fitness levels and conditioning required for this
    sport.
    Identify and discuss which bioenergetics energy systems (anaerobic, glycolytic, aerobic)
    need to be trained and discuss why. Provide a specific example of when each energy
    system might be used during the sport.
    Discuss the physiological benefits of resistance training for this sport.
    Professionalism/References: 20 points
    Citations/References must be in APA 7th ed. format (alphabetical order by first author’s
    last name and double spaced with a hanging indent), provided at the end of your paper
    and cited throughout where appropriate using the Author(s), (year) APA format in the
    text. Your required references must come from appropriate academic sources such as
    peer reviewed journal articles or books. You can use online/non-scholarly resources
    (must cite and reference appropriately) but they do not count towards your required
    references for the assignment. The best place to begin looking for articles will be in
    NSCA publications available through the UWF library database (SportDiscuss & pubmed
    are a great place to start as well as google scholar). If you are struggling with finding
    resources, please ask me or a UWF librarian (this is what they do professionally!
