Choose a sociological-related topic in a way that is common-sense or counterintuitive. You might describe a scientific breakthrough or your own exceptional experience. Motivate people to action or greater self-awareness. Choose an idea that you want to share and describe it in a catchy way. 
Using at least 3 valid and reliable sources, write a paper and present your paper to class. The paper should be three pages in length.
Students should also cite these sources during their presentations. This paper should be completed in APA format including citation of sources.
You will upload both your paper and your powerpoint presentation. The powerpoint should be at least 10 slides and  you should use graphics to make it an engaging presentation.

Discussing challenges that face our world often means investigating opinions and ideas different from your own. Remember to remain thoughtful and respectful towards your peers. It is also important to review the module resources and read the prompts in their entirety before participating in the discussion.
Considering the assigned readings for this module, discuss how communication technologies impact different types of relationships. Provide examples from the readings that illustrate these impacts.
In this discussion, you will discuss the strategies that were presented in the module resources.
Create one initial post and follow up with at least two response posts.
For your initial post, address the following:
Identify a mediated-communication trend from the module readings that you found interesting.
Explain how you could apply it to two distinct types of interpersonal relationships (e.g., family and romantic relationships).
Highlight the potential benefits of using this strategy in each context.

Choose any topic we covered in week one and find a recent media reference no older than the past 12 months so not published before 6/11/2023.  Upload that with a 500 page summary of the article and an APA citation.  Look in a journal (scholarly)article, in which case you will earn extra credit, The articles you cite need to be about the elderly.

Each summary NEEDS AT LEAST 1 SOURCE Each summary needs to be labeled to which week it goes with. There also must be a link to the scholarly article. The summaries should be a page long. I’ll send you the textbook name so you can find a free pdf of it online

1. Compare/contrast life in an urban area with life in a rural area.  From your perspective, which is better?  Why?
2. Describe the different motivations for having a social movement.  Then, identify a social movement that has occurred or is occurring in the United States.  Which of the motivations led to the movement occurring?

Explain the Jim Crow Legislation. Investigate examples of Jim Crow legislation in different states. What different areas did these laws cover (e.g., using different bibles in courtrooms, etc.). Is Jim Crow a legislation of the past? or this practice alive and well in our modern United States? Give examples, and discuss.

We often assume that people make decisions by rationally calculating the costs and benefits and choosing the option that provides the greatest reward. However, sociologists point out the power that social norms have over the behavior of individuals. Social norms are collective representations of acceptable group conduct as well as individual perceptions of particular group conduct. They can be viewed as cultural products (including values, customs, and traditions) which represent individuals’ basic knowledge of what others do and think that they should do.
For this paper you will need to pick a social norm that you will violate in front of a group of unsuspecting people. DO NOT do anything offensive, dangerous or illegal. A classic example of a breaching experiment is to go on an elevator and face the back of the wall instead of the door (the norm is to face the door, or to watch the numbers that tell you what floor you are on). Please be creative and have fun with it but let me reiterate: DO NOT do anything offensive or illegal!!! In addition: DO NOT do anything related to COVID-19, especially in regard to breaking public health regulations.  
Once you have finished, write a 2-3 page double spaced paper explaining what you did, how people reacted, how their reactions made you feel and what that tells you about the power that social expectations have over the choices we make. Make sure to connect your insights to the class lectures on socialization, social norms, and culture.
