  • “God’s Unchanging Nature: A Comparison of Arius and Alexander’s Philosophical Presumptions”

Arius and Alexander’s shared philosophical presumptions about God. Both agreed with Greek conceptions of the divine that God cannot change in any way, shape, or form. Arius deduced from this that Jesus could not be divine in that way. Alexander used a Logos theology gleaned from the Greeks in which true divinity eternally exudes an extension of itself that mediates between itself and creation and insulates itself from the vicissitudes of creation. This extension (Logos) can participate in change, but this doesn’t count against the constancy of the divine essence because it eternally exudes to fulfill this function.
If you are not married to the Greek Philosophical mindset, it frees you up to more possibility. In fact, this is the danger or trouble we can get into conceptually when we believe our point of view is 100% correct. As Christians, we embrace a view that fundamentally asks, “How does God reveal himself through His word?” and humbly allow that word to transform and renew our minds.
Read the following verses and summarize in your own words what you believe is being revealed about God. Does the verses affirm Arius, Alexander, or something else? If something else, what? What, if anything, was missed by the Greeks?
    Exod. 32:14
    Num 14:20
    2 Sam 24:16
    1 Chron 21:15
    Ps 106:45

  • “The Importance of Trust and Trustworthiness in the Nursing Profession: Fulfilling the Demands of Responsibility and Accountability”

Lk 12:48 From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
Nursing care often requires the delivery of medications to patients.  This carries a huge responsibility because all medications have the potential for side effects, but failing to assess an individual’s risk makes the drug more potentially dangerous.  That is why a professional nurse administers or supervises the administration of medications in the hospital.
The nursing profession is consistently rated the most trusted profession in the world.  What is trust and why is this important in the nursing profession? How do you see your practice contributing to the identity of trust and the profession of nursing.
Write a  scholarly paper (you must have reliable resources) on the concept of trust and trustworthiness (fidelity), and think about what you have been given that empowers this ability to demand of you.

  • Title: The Sin of Homosexuality: A Historical and Personal Perspective

  • “The Significance of Studying World Religion: Exploring Motivations, Lessons, and the Role of Hinduism in Contemporary Society”

The Final Project that was first presented to you in Week 1 is due by Day 7 of this week. Please be sure that your project meets the specified criteria before submitting it.
For your Final Project, you will write a persuasive essay in which you will discuss why the study of world religion matters in our world today. In Week 2, you chose the religious tradition to explore in detail. In Week 3, you selected the pillar of analysis from which to base your point of view. In Week 4, you thought about how your religious tradition approaches a specific social concern.  (The religion I choose was Hindiusm)
Now, step back and examine the role the pillar of analysis you selected plays in a global world, from the perspective of your chosen religious tradition. From this perspective, explore, answer, and defend your response to the following questions:
Why do people participate in religion? What were their motivations thousands of years ago? What are their motivations today?
What’s the point of studying religion? What important lessons can we take from the study of religion?
Given what you’ve covered in your weekly milestones, what role does your selected religious tradition play in contemporary society? Can your selected religious tradition, or any religious tradition, be a positive cultural presence?
