Identify another, different policy issue that impacts or interests you. This law can be at the local or state level, but must be one that you have not already submitted. It must have been voted on by your state’s legislative branch, been approved by the executive office, and been signed into law. You will want to choose a topic that has been in place long enough that you can find data to show how effective, efficient, and so forth it is. Use credible sources. This is not an opinion paper about a law.
Research the policy context and implementation and evaluate it using the criteria laid out in your lessons (and practiced in the writing assignments). The background, context, and implementation should NOT be the focus of the presentation. Use the attached template. Do NOT combine things that are on different slides and do not delete slides.
The focus is on the analysis. Analyze the policy, and then draw conclusions and make recommendations. If it is accessible via a link, please make sure it is publicly accessible. You should include appropriate graphics on every slide or nearly every slide.
Do not just give an opinion for each detail about why your policy does or doesn’t meet each criterion. Give facts.
Your reference list (a minimum of 7) should be the final slide(s) of the presentation but can also be uploaded as a separate document within the assignment folder.
Use the attached template and add your text, graphics, background and so forth so you have a professional-looking presentation that doesn’t skip something. Don’t combine criteria. Remember, how your policy does or does not meet each one is an important part of your grade.
Do not combine or delete criteria.

Title: A Critical Analysis of the Enacted State Policy on Education Reform in New York State
Instructions
Based on the framework laid out in your lesson, you are to critically analyze an enacted state policy. You will want to choose a topic that has been in place long enough that you can find data to show how effective, efficient, and so forth it is. Use credible sources. This is not an opinion paper about a law.
In this 5-7 page analysis (not including title page and reference page) you should:
Establish the brief history of the issue
Identify the major policy concepts and contexts
Identify the stakeholders
Review the development and implementation of the policy (what was the policymaking process?)
Evaluate the effectiveness, efficiency, fairness, ethics, feasibility, acceptability, unintended consequences, costs, and maintainability. This is the most important part of the analysis.
Provide an analysis with recommendations for improving or modifying the policy (be sure to include your recommendations for adjustments, expansion, or alternatives). This is the most important part of the assignment.
Situate your analysis in the contemporary policy literature.
Use the attached template.
Make sure you draw from the lesson and relevant PA journals. A list of good online journals is available in our online library. You should incorporate at least four peer reviewed journal sources.
Remember that the content must be 5-7 pages (excluding title page and references). *Your essay will be automatically uploaded to Turnitin.com and an originality report will be generated for you. No action on your part is needed to generate this report. Please contact your instructor if you have questions about this process or your report.
Use the attached set up to ensure you include all required elements.
*Don’t combine or delete criteria. Remember, the analysis is the important part of this assignment. Use facts, not opinions, to show how your policy does or does not meet the criteria. Use your sources for these facts.
Remember that you will not be able to use the same type of policy in future assignments.

Title: Addressing the Opioid Crisis in Ohio through Policy Action
Identify a different problem or issue (local or state) that needs political attention through policy action. Once you’ve identified the issue, you will be constructing an issue brief on the proposed policy action. Your 3-5 page issue brief should be constructed using the attached template and should cover the following sections:
Brief history of the issue
General accounting of the current problem (stated in one or two sentences)
The options available for addressing the problem
Whether there are current applicable policies that need to be expanded, adjusted or eliminated
What actors are currently involved with the issue and where support currently exists
What your recommendations are and how you would propose moving the policy forward (i.e., what support needs to be built, what channels does it need to go through, which of the options listed above are most feasible, etc.)
Remember that any recommendations for new programs need to include how you will pay for them in a sustainable manner.
Do not complete the template attached below with bullets or broad lists. This should be a detailed analysis of each element discussed above. Write this issue brief as if you were handing it to the state governor, the head of an agency, etc. They should understand your policy, your recommendations, and the policymaking process of this issue through review of your issue brief. It shouldn’t need elaboration from you.
Be sure to draw from our course readings and to use at least three scholarly sources. -
Title: Post-Covid Commute Trends Fact Sheet Front: As the world continues to navigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, one aspect that has significantly changed is the daily commute. With lockdowns and social distancing measures in place,
Write a concise one-pager (Front and back) fact sheet regarding the post-Covid commute trends. No need for detailed analysis, just a backgrounder on the current trends; PAY ESPECIAL attention to the rise of remote work and WFH.
I’ve attached some literatures, but feel free to use additional sources on the web. -

“Exploring Causal Inference: A Case Study on the Impact of Minimum Wage on Employment”
Apply causal inference to a case study
A topical economic policy debate in many regions centres around the effect that introducing a minimum wage has on employment. Having engaged with the notes in this unit, you are encouraged to expand your thinking around the problem of causal inference and how it influences the design of research on this topic. This exercise provides an opportunity to practically apply the theory that you have learnt.
Step 1: Read the influential article by David Card and Alan Krueger (1994) on the impact of a minimum wage on employment. You are also encouraged to read a critique of the Card and Krueger study, as well as reviews of later developments in research on this topic, such as the article by the Economic Policy Institute on study design in minimum-wage research.
Step 2: Spend some time investigating and reflecting on the following four questions:
Why did the authors choose this research design?
What confounding variables are the authors trying to avoid?
Do you agree with the conclusions they have drawn from the data?
If you were a policymaker, would you feel confident using this research as the foundation for your policy? Why, or why not?
For your own enrichment, discuss your answers to these questions in the class-wide discussion. This provides a good opportunity to engage with your fellow students.
Navigate to the class-wide discussion to join the discussion.
