  • “Exploring Leadership Strengths and Opportunities for Growth through the Four-Frame Model”

    Part one
Take the Leadership Orientations Self-Assessment developed by Lee Bolman and Terrence Deal, who devised the Four-Frame Model to assess where your leadership strengths figure most prominently.
Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:
In which frame—structural, human resources, political, symbolic—did you rate the highest? Were you surprised by this result?
Describe an example of when you clearly exhibited an orientation to this frame.
How can you use your strengths in this frame to persuade or negotiate change?
How can you bolster your performance in the frame for which you rated the lowest to persuade or negotiate change?
PART TWO Respond with 175 words (C. Oowie Whitmore)
    Greeting Peers,
I received my results. Scored higher as a Structural Leader and lower in Symbolic Leader. I excelled in creating and implementing systems, processes, and strategies that ensure efficiency and effectiveness within an organization. An example of when I exhibited an orientation to this frame would be when I led a project to reorganize a department for better workflow. I identified inefficiencies, redesigned processes, and implemented new structures to improve productivity.
To persuade or negotiate change using my strengths in the structural frame, I can focus on presenting clear, logical arguments supported by data and evidence. Highlight how I can propose changes will improve efficiency, save costs, or enhance overall performance. Emphasize the concrete benefits and outcomes of my proposals to gain buy-in from stakeholders who value these aspects.
To bolster my performance in the symbolic frame, where I rated lowest, I can start by understanding the importance of symbolism and culture in driving change. Focus on building relationships and fostering a sense of shared purpose and identity among stakeholders. Communicate my vision for change in a way that resonates emotionally with others, using storytelling and symbols to inspire and motivate.
Part three respond with 175 words:(Charmayne Butler)
    Hey everyone,
So, I just got the results back from the Leadership Orientations Self-Assessment by Bolman and Deal, and let me tell you, it’s pretty interesting. My highest score was in the Political frame, I got a 19 out of 24, which puts me in the 90-100th percentile. That means I’m pretty good at understanding and navigating organizational politics and dynamics. You could say I’m comfortable with conflict and advocating for my unit or organization’s objectives.
Following closely behind, I scored a 17 in the Symbolic frame, which puts me in the 70-79th percentile. This suggests I effectively inspire and motivate others through vision and symbolism. I emphasize storytelling, symbolism, and creating a sense of meaning and purpose within the organization.
My lower scores in the Structural and Human Resources frames surprised me a bit. I scored a 10 in the Structural frame and a 14 in the Human Resources frame. I’ve always valued clear structures and systems, but maybe I haven’t been emphasizing them as much. As for the Human Resources side, I guess I haven’t been focusing as much on interpersonal relationships and teamwork as I thought.

    Final Project Topic Proposal
This week you will be submitting your topic proposal. Your topic proposal is meant to ensure me that your research topic is relevant, and will be enough to complete an 8 page final project paper. https://myclassroom.apus.edu/d2l/common/dialogs/quickLink/quickLink.d2l?ou=188292&type=coursefile&fileId=Assignments%2fFSMT498+Required+Research+Topics%2fUSFA+2022+Summit+on+Fire+Prevention+and+Control+Roundtable.pdf

Impact of Climate Change (p. 15)
Fire Service Apprenticeship Program (p. 17)
Impact of Occupational Cancer (p. 19)
Impact of Behavioral Health (p. 21)
Parity with Law Enforcement in Federal Policy Development (p. 23)
Impact of Codes and Standards (p. 25)
Title Page: APA 7th Edition formatted title page.
Introduction: Your first paragraph is the introduction. The introduction must accomplish the following:
    Introduce your topic
Provide a summary of the problem your paper will address
Discuss the main ideas or points you would like to present in your Week 8 paper
Relevance: This section of your topic proposal is where you explain why your research is necessary, the literature available on the topic, and how it relates either to the fire service as a whole or to your own fire service organization and community. Arguments: This section of your topic proposal is where you will discuss the main arguments and counter arguments on the topic, and where you will try to convince the reader to support your position. A compelling position paper will have arguments for and against the topic. A strong position paper takes a stance on a topic where people can disagree. Without arguments, the position paper would be boring.
Conclusion: The conclusion will briefly summarize your topic proposal and reinforce your research’s stated purpose.
References: This is the last page of your proposal. It serves as a listing of all references that you mentioned in your paper. Please use APA 7th Edition style when completing this list.
    Assignment Requirements:
    1. Two (2) Full APA Formatted Pages (This does not count the title page or the reference page)

(Note from client: This is a research paper. I have added the pdf document for you to go over. It is broad and should give you a good topic to go over. You only have to choose ONE topic from the pdf document. This paper is to be written like an essay.)

  • “Satire and Politics: An Objective Analysis and Recommendations for a Hot Topic Issue”

As the youngest member of an editorial staff (President’s speech writers, magazine, newspaper, online news source, social media PR, etc.) who is preparing for an upcoming press conference/publication, you are tasked with providing an objective perspective/position on one of several current hot topics that are the focus of satirical commentary/publications. You must research both sides of the issue, present your findings, and give a personal recommendation as to which side has the most defensible stance based on available public information on the issue. Because satire is often used to reflect on political and social issues in order to inspire change the staff wishes to make sure that they have a clear understanding of the topic so that they can have a significant impact on the political/social landscape.
Now that you have completed your research on your political cartoon, it is time for you to form a stance based off that research. Take the articles you have discovered and formulate the position you think has the most merit based on your research.
-Be careful that your position is based on research and not personal bias. (Every claim needs to have evidence and you don’t express opinions as facts).
-Come up with 3 recommendations as to how the company/party that you are representing should proceed. What stance should they take? Why is the event in question good or bad? What actions should they take in response to it?
-Every claim you make MUST be backed up with evidence from your research.
-Each piece of evidence you use must have an explanation for your reasoning as to how it proves your claim(s).
-You must have an introductory paragraph and a conclusion paragraph.
-Your introductory paragraph must have a thesis that tells what your official stance on the issue is and what steps you recommend for your company/party to take in response to it.
-Each body paragraph should explain your reasoning for why you think your company/party should take certain steps.
-Your conclusion paragraph should summarize each of your main points and reiterate the next steps you think your company/party should take.
