  • “The Battle of the Brain Hemispheres: Left vs. Right and Their Impact on the Human Experience”

Left Brain Versus Right Brain Discussion
    7575 unread replies.7575 replies.
In the readings the idea of hemispheric lateralization was discussed in detail, especially with respect to temporal lobe functions. From the left hemisphere we have language, mathematics and logic. From the right hemisphere we have intuition, music, art, spatial abilities and the capacity to commune with nature. So the question I would ask is which do you think is more important to the overall human condition, left hemisphere functions or right hemisphere functions. Consider how these abilities are used and how they apply to our lives. For example, left hemisphere functions are primarily involved in the development of science and technology. Right hemisphere functions are involved when we listen to a favorite piece of music or take a hike in the woods. In your own experience, which do you value more?
Yes, this is rather philosophical. Would you rather discuss details of brain chemistry and anatomy? I’m thinking this is a fun way to get you to think about what different areas of the brain do. I’ve also been up all night. That may play a role as well. Submit your initial response sometime this week, then reply to a couple of your peers by 11:59 pm on Sunday.
