An analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted to compare the average hours of sleep among college students across three different study majors: Psychology (N = 50, M = 6.80, SD = 1.50), Biology (N = 50, M = 6.50, SD = 1.40), and Engineering (N = 50, M = 6.20, SD = 1.30). The overall F-test results revealed a significant difference between the groups, F(2, 147) = 4.27, p = .016, indicating that the students’ majors had an influence on their average hours of sleep.

  • “Exploring Social Situations and Identifying Independent and Dependent Variables” Title: “Analyzing Social Behavior: Identifying Independent and Dependent Variables in Everyday Situations”

For this class discussion in your initial post describe a brief social situation. The video posted in this module about how people stand in an elevator is an example of a social situation. You should then write a hypothesis about why you think people behave however they are behaving in this social situation. Please post this by the 4th day of Module 1. Next, select two of your classmates’ posts. Respond to them and describe what you think the independent and dependent variables are in these hypotheses. Please do this by the 6th day of Module 1. At the end of this exercise, each person should have two responses. I will make comments on these responses when people post their IVs and DVs. In the Module Overview I have also posted a brief video explaining independent and dependent variables. These concepts are also explained in Chapter 1.
Here is an example related to behavior on an elevator. (You cannot use this example!) The social situation is that when people get onto an elevator, they turn around and face the door. I hypothesize that if someone gets on the elevator and faces the back, the person already on the elevator will look at the floor. In this case, the IV is whether or not the new person entering the elevator faces the front or the back. The DV is whether or not the person already on the elevator looks down at the floor or looks straight ahead.
The purpose of this assignment is to get more practice creating hypotheses and identifying independent and dependent variables.
Below are links to two videos which are optional to watch. The first video describes independent and dependent variables. Feel free to watch this if it would be helpful! The second video is a brief clip of a social situation: what happens when people get on an elevator. This is an example of an everyday social situation.

  • “Ethical Dilemmas and Multicultural Competence in Counseling: A Reflection on Working with a Client in a Correctional Facility”

    Assignment Instructions:
This assignment should be at least 5 double-spaced pages in 12-point font.
I don’t need extensive citations and you may write in the first person. However, this should be MORE formal
and MORE organized than your mini-self-reflection assignments.
Read the article below and use your empathic skills to put yourself in the place of a counseling student or
early career counselors working in this setting. Think about the most effective actions you might take and why, trying to balance ethical responsibilities while also being mindful of working as part of a team and the larger context. You will not be graded on your heroics or your social justice bona fides, but I am looking for an authentic account of your thoughts, worries, who you might consult, when, why, and how you might take certain steps, or not. Please note if there is a discrepancy between what you think you should do and what you think you might actually do, and why.
For this assignment, you will be asked to integrate several topics that we have discussed so far, including ethics, the clinical record, and supervision. Please integrate the following resources into your assignment:
    1. ACA Code of Ethics
    2. Text chapter 6 on Supervision plus in-class discussion and lecture on supervision and institutions
    3. BB folder on the clinical record plus in-class discussion and lecture on the clinical record
    4. Multicultural readings, textbook readings, and in-class lectures and discussions on cultural competence
This is the article: THE MAIN ARTICLE PDF ATTACHMENT
The rest of the attachments are references & information provided from class.
(Articles that are not included in the attached files are “Multicultural Encounters” & “Counseling individuals of African Descent” from the American Counseling Association website)
Please include a plagiarism report with the final assignment.
