Title: The Effects of Social Media Use on Mental Health: A Critical Analysis of Empirical Research Research Question: How does social media use impact mental health? Header: The Effects of Social Media Use on Mental Health Page Number: 1
Title Page: research question, header, page number, title (your research question), your name, professor’s name, class and date of submission
Annotated bibliography. Four peer-reviewed, empirical articles required. Read & analyze the articles using the annotated bibliography rubric at Blackboard. The analysis will be several short sentences below the reference (see example attached). You must attach the first page of each article that includes the abstract.
Summary. A stand alone paper, 2-3 pages typed, double-spaced in APA format (verify length requirement w/instructor) that answers your research question using
the results from your articles. What can be concluded from the research? What problems did you see with the studies you read? is there future research you could do to further answer the research question (bonus for some professors)? Do not plagiarize! You must use your own words (reword article findings) when summarizing your answer. Do not use your opinion. Cite the articles correctly (see example). -

Debunking the Myth: The Truth About Brain Usage “Myth Busting: Exploring the Mind-Body Connection and Adherence to Ethical Standards in Psychological Research” “Addressing Assessment Purpose: A Guide to Effective Writing”
Write a 3–5-page paper debunking a myth about the brain using evidence from
scholarly sources.
Myths about our brain abound. You’ve probably seen at least a few of them
in movies, books, or TV shows. For this assessment, you’ll select one of the
following myths to debunk.
We only use 10%
of our brain.
Brain training
will make you smart.
The brain
perceives the world as it is.
Right-brained
people are more creative.
Adults can’t
grow new brain cells.
The brain is a
computer.

Find one flawed source of information on the Internet. To find a flawed
source, look for one with a substantial number of errors.
Read what the
textbook says about the myth.
Use the myth
you chose and use it as your search word or phrase on the Internet.
Look for
sources that are not accurate based on the information in your textbook. If you don’t
see a flawed source on the first page of results, skip to the third page
of results or further.
Tips for
finding flawed sources: Scroll through
your social media feeds.
Scroll through
your results and look for sources that are NOT: .gov
websites.
News or press
websites.
Then find and read two peer-reviewed journal articles on the topic. You
will use these articles to help debunk the myth through their research
findings.
Write a 3–5 page paper that includes:
A brief summary
of the myth and evidence provided by the website (your flawed source).
Challenge of
the myth: provide evidence the myth is not correct. Identify
assumptions that underlie or support the myth.
Include the
research findings from peer-reviewed journal articles. For each
source Discuss the
methods, participants, and results.
Explain the
reliability, validity, and generalizability of the sources.
Discuss
whether the research is ethical based on the 5 APA ethical principles
of psychologists. Refer to the specific principles and cite the APA
Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.
A discussion of
how the brain and body work in relation to your myth, using your textbook
and other scholarly sources to support your statements. We only use

theory: Based on your research, what do you think is correct?
Use headers to organize your paper. You should have at least three
headers.
Written
communication: Written communication is in professional style with correct
grammar, usage, and mechanics.
Resources: Use a
minimum of five sources: your flawed source, your textbook, the APA
Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct, and two
peer-reviewed journal articles
APA formatting: References
and citations are formatted according to APA style and formatting. Use Academic
Writer for guidance in citing sources in proper APA style. See the Writing

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:
1. Considering the multiple articles you have read during this term and in conjunction with
the 1 or more articles chosen specifically for this assignment, what are the main,
take-away points about well-being within your specific area of focus? Identify at least 3
main points.
2. Why are these points important, especially in terms of understanding or building
well-being? List at least 3 indicators of importance.
3. How does your research relate to one or more of the assigned class articles? Be sure to
demonstrate application, analysis, or evaluation.
After your presentation, please be sure you also address the following:
4. Explain the criteria you utilized to verify the peer-reviewed status of your chosen article
(refer back to Hint from work product 1 if needed).
I strongly encourage you to consider your own areas of interest, personally and in your future
anticipated career, and use this assignment to learn more about something interesting or
important to you! Be sure to demonstrate critical thinking in your work.
NOTE that I strongly encourage you to create a PowerPoint presentation and add verbal
narration to the slides, then convert this to an .mp4 video file (takes quite some time to convert),
then upload your video to YouTube and share the link. However, others have gotten creative with
how to create the presentation. For example, a student presented a PowerPoint presentation in a
Zoom call that they recorded. Another used Prezi, though I won’t be much help if you go that
route as I am not as familiar with it. If you absolutely cannot find another way to make your
presentation, you can submit two separate files – a PowerPoint presentation and an audio file, but
you will need to clearly note when to advance the slides in your narration. -
Title: The Impact of Social Media Use on Study Habits: A Small-N Design Study Objective: The objective of this study is to determine whether altering one’s social media use has an impact on their study habits. Method: This study will
Instructions
Imagine that you want to use a small-N design to test the impact of social media use on your own behavior. You plan to alter one of your social media habits (for example, stop or start Facebook or start or stop Instagram) and measure your mood, study habits, social life, or some other measurable aspect.
Decide on a question that interests you (mood, study habits, social life, or some other aspect that may be impacted by social media use), and reflect on the small-N designs. Create a small-N study that would test whether changing some aspect of your social media use impacts the behavior you are interested in. Select from one of these designs:
Stable-baseline design (Fig. 13.12)
Multiple-baseline design (Fig. 13.14)
Reversal design (Fig. 13.15)
Write and attach an APA-7 formatted abstract using MS-Word (250 words max, 12pt font, double spaced) of your study. Include a graph, based on Figures 13.12, 13.14, or 13.15 to show that the intervention worked. Your abstract should include labels for Objective, Method, Results, Conclusion per Section 1.10 (p. 13) of the Concise Guide to APA Style (attached). No cover or references page for this assignment. Be sure your submission is in .doc or .docx format!
It is not necessary to actually perform the experiment, though it might be interesting to do so after you complete the assignment. -
Analyzing Developmental Milestones and Recommending Modifications for the Vtech Count and Sing Bakery
***This assignment utilizes Turnitin. When you submit this assignment to the assignment drop box, it will automatically be submitted to Turnitin. You will receive an Originality Score along with an Originality Report that should be carefully reviewed. If revisions need to be made to your assignment, you will be able to submit your assignment up to three (3) times before the due date, and you will quickly receive updated Originally feedback. It is important to plan ahead so that you have enough time to review your originality feedback and make any revisions to your assignment before the final due date. Please see instructions for using Turnitin in the Course Welcome module under Useful Resources.
NOTE: In the event you must submit your assignment AFTER the due date (with approval and consent of instructor), please note the following:
Turnitin will only provide ONE attempt for Originality Feedback for late submissions.
Please refer Late Assignment Policy in the Syllabus for questions related to a request to submit a late assignment.
Topic Selection: The instructor will post a document early in the quarter that will give each student a choice of two possible toys to complete this assignment. You must complete the assignment on one of the two topic choices assigned to you.
Assignment Overview: In this assignment, you will analyze a children’s toy or game based on cognitive, physical, and/or psychosocial development of infants, toddlers, or middle childhood. You will analyze how the toy/game aligns with major developmental milestones and normative behaviors for its intended target age range and that age range’s cognitive, physical, and/or psychosocial needs. You will also recommend at least one modification that would improve the toy/game and provide a rationale on how this modification would enhance at least one of the developmental domains (cognitive, physical, or psychosocial). You will support your analysis with relevant concepts from developmental theories.
Assignment Instructions: follow the attached questions. Pick ONE toy. My toy choices are either Vtech Count and Sing Bakery OR Scoop and Serve Ice Cream Counter
You will need to create the assignment about one of the two toy choices listed next to your name on the list. It is not due until the end of Week 5 but I thought some people might want to select their topic early. The instructions and rubric are in the syllabus (and on the dropbox page) and I have an additional explanation resource video in the Faculty Added Content module. The only resources needed to complete this assignment are the textbook and a website that has basic information about the toy – usually a manufacturer or retail store website will have sufficient information to complete the assignment elements that ask for information about the toy (ex. age range recommended, target gender if any etc.) – and your creativity! From time to time a specific toy listed is no longer being sold, in which case you can find something similar or contact me to problem-solve. -
Title: “Understanding the Differences between Traditional Literature Reviews, Systematic Reviews, and Meta-Analyses in Evidence-Based Practice”
Week 2 – Discussion 2
Reviewing the Literature & EBP
In our assigned textbook readings and video presentations this week, we learn about systematic literature reviews and meta-analysis and how both differ from the traditional literature review.
How would you describe the difference between the traditional literature review and a systematic review?
How does a systematic review differ from a meta-analysis?
How can systematic reviews and meta-analyses be used singularly or in combination in order to create an unbiased synthesis of the literature regarding a particular topic or research question? -
“The Psychology of Sacrifice: Understanding the Motivations Behind Protests for Distant Conflicts and the Impact of Gender Identity on Society’s Future”
Given the current state of unrest at our schools around the country concerning the protests about the Israeli Gaza war, I would like you to address the question of why these people are sacrificing everything for hey event that is happening 1000 miles away. What psychological factors do you think are playing a role and how you know why do you think they differ from “average people”?
In this class we talked about many different topics evolving gender. Which ones do you think are the most important to curate gender identity for most people? Assumption is that it is a multiple and multivariate issue. So without in mind what are the ones that you feel are the most important and why?
What do you think the future of gender is and our culture? Are we moving to a place and space. where there is only one gender, no gender, or everyone has their own individualized perception of what gender means to them? Please be thorough in your answer and explain using discussion points in class. -
“Uncovering the Legacy of B.F. Skinner: An In-Depth Analysis of the Father of Behaviorism”
The course paper is an in-depth research paper on Burrhus Frederic Skinner. Your sources are to be only from the professional literature (journals) and professional books. Cite all sources in the body of the paper in APA citation style, with an APA style Reference page at the end of the paper containing a minimum of 3 professional journal references in addition to other sources. Do not quote from your source, but simply put it in your own words and cite the reference. While quality of content and writing is most important, the paper should be a minimum of 5 pages (best quality) to a maximum of 7 pages. The paper must be prepared on a word processor and use Arial or New Times Roman 12point fonts only, double space between lines, and with 1inch margins on all 4 sides. This is an opportunity for you to really learn what is known (and not known) about this topic.
