The Trait Model of Personality

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, review the following:

The article Personality Stability and Change: A Meta-Analysis of Longitudinal Studies
The Big Five Personality Test; complete the free, confidential personality test that is based on the Big Five theory. The results of this test will be used to aid in the completion of this assignment. Note that you do not need to register or provide personal information to obtain your results from this website.
This site lists a $29 charge to take the assessment, but that is only if you want the Premium Report. You do not need the Premium Report and do not have to pay anything to complete the online assessment. After you have completed the assessment, select the ‘No, just give me my results’ link. This link will take you to a page that will tell you how you scored on each of the five traits in the Big Five theory.
In addition to the required resources, go to the University of Arizona Global Campus Library and research a minimum of one scholarly source on the trait model of personality (part one of the paper) and one scholarly resource on the big five theory of personality (part two of the paper).

In the first part of your paper,
Provide an overview of the trait model of personality in which you identify at least one principal theory and its theorist (i.e., Allport, Cattell, or Eysenck) associated with the model. (Please note that the trait model is more than just the Big Five—this part of the paper should cover the general history and evolution of the model.)
Compare and contrast the basic assumptions of the trait model and the basic assumptions of one of the three models discussed in Weeks 1 and 2 regarding the theorist’s explanations of personality development.

Read the case study of Marcus and answer each of the following questions in a paper. The paper should be an essay, not in question/answer format. The questions are there to guide you in developing the essay. The essay should be formatted properly using APA guidelines and include a title and reference pages.

Short Paper and 20 min Presentation
Each student will select a disability that they have no first-hand experience with. Your job is to “live” with that disability as much as possible for 1 week. By that I mean, spend time reflecting on how your everyday experience would be different if you had that disability. For example, at the end of each day, write down what you did. How would that activity have gone differently if you were disabled? What aspects did you take for granted that someone with a disability might not be able to? Would you have needed support to achieve everything you did? What supports would you have needed, and are those things that are accessible to you? If you’re able, you may also want to follow disabled individuals on social media to gain a better understanding of what navigating daily life is like for them, and so that you’re able to see the breadth and heterogeneity within the group of “disability.”
At the end of the week, you should write a short paper (4-5 pages double spaced) that provides a brief background of the disability you focused on including its prevalence, symptoms, challenges faced by those with the disability as well as your own personal reflections on how your life would be different if you were living with the disability. You will present what you learn in an ~20 minute class presentation.

In this course, we talked about attraction, relationships, love, and how people become couples. Several television shows try to take a different look at coupling. Shows such as 90-Day Fiancée, Love is Blind, Married at First Site and a new show called Naked Attraction, take the concepts that we’ve discussed and double-down on them or totally ignore them.
I’m curious to know what concepts from this course would you apply to ONE of these shows to help explain the show. You do not have to have watched the show to answer the question. You can simply use the descriptions below to get an idea of the show.
The premise of Love Is Blind is that the contestants cannot see each other, which means they can only speak with a partition between them. After speaking with multiple people, contestants picked people they wanted to keep talking to and producers helped arrange dates if two people selected one another.
The series, 90 Day Fiancé, is an American reality television series on TLC that follows couples who have applied for or received a K-1 visa, available uniquely to foreign fiancés of U.S. citizens, and therefore have 90 days to marry each other. They have 90 days to spend time together before they get married or choose not to get married.
The series, Married at First Sight, features three to five couples, paired up by relationship experts, who agree to marry when they first meet. They do not get to know each other before the wedding and meet at the altar.
Naked Attraction is a British series that involves one person selecting from 6 potential dating partners. The difference between this show and dating shows is that all six potential dating partners are naked and the person selecting is clothed and sees each potential date naked, revealed from the feet up to the head. They select one person from the original six to date.

Tip 1: Peer-reviewed journals may also contain items that are not peer-reviewed, such as letters to the editor, opinion pieces, and book reviews. Even if you check the peer-review limiter box, you still need to examine the items carefully to be sure they are articles.

Guidelines for Personal Observation Paper “Lurking” is an information technology term referring to passively observing others’ electronic comments. Your assignment will be to search out and observe specific blogs and postings by persons who have mental health-related diagnoses (you will choose ONE category of disorders to follow – i.e. depression, OCD, Schizophrenia, etc). You will look into their comments and postings, learning about their specific disorders (i.e. mood, anxiety, psychotic, substance abuse, personality disorders, etc) and how those disorders affect their emotions, relationships, academic/occupational performance, etc.
You will NOT identify yourselves to the people you observe, nor will you post your own comments to these sites. At the end of your observation period, you will write a 10-12 page paper documenting what you learned about this particular disorder and the people who suffer from it. This is not a traditional research paper per se, but you will need to do some research concerning the nature of the disorder you are following and compare the symptoms described in the electronic posts to the diagnostic criteria and characteristics of the disorder as described by clinical and research sources.
