These concepts are essential building blocks in the basic foundation of behavioral psychology. As you read and reflect on these ideas, please respond to the following prompt for this week’s discussion:

1. As discussed in the book and in the powerpoint presentation, there is the myth of adolescence being a time of strife and turmoil,. Do you agree? What was your adolescent period like?

For this Assignment, you will write a 3–4-page expository essay analyzing two different group therapy models as they are used in addiction settings. Use at least two other scholarly sources to support your ideas too.
In your essay, assume that you are an addiction professional who will work with clients in an Intensive Outpatient/IOP addiction treatment program. Choose two of the group therapy models from your assigned reading (may discuss integrated treatment of co-occurring treatment) and:
Analyze the group therapy models providing a brief explanation of the model, discussion of their use in treatment settings, and an analysis of how each model is similar and different from each other.
Write a short scenario demonstrating one of the group therapy models that you chose for the first part of the paper. In the scenario, use at least two interventions that are unique to the chosen model.
Explain how the Integrated Model of Care is best suited for use with clients in co-occurring treatment programs.
Examine at least two ethical considerations that are important to group therapy confidentiality.

The VIA (Values in Action) Classification of Strengths is a questionnaire inventory online. It is free to you, but you will have to register. You are to write a discussion describing your experience with the survey. When you have posted your results, be sure to respond to at least 2 classmate posts. The following points should be covered in your post.
Before going online to do the VIA, think about what you feel your strengths are and what you might see as areas that are not so strong. Study the following list and pick out 5 strengths in which you think you are strongest. Also find 3 that you think may be those you do not use as much. Remember, everyone has a combination of strengths they are using right now and ones they use less frequently. Record your selections on a paper.

Philosophy is an important component to the foundation of the discipline of Psychology. When we think of famous philosophers, more often than not, the names and faces that we see are white and almost exclusively male. Does that mean that there weren’t philosopher women or philosophers of color? Of course not! So, here is where you have an opportunity to do a bit more digging into the history of philosophy and search out those philosophers who don’t share the characteristics that society typically associates with philosophy. Here is an opportunity to uncover the contributions of those who may have been overlooked or erased in our usual telling of history.
For this homework assignment, research a philosopher who was a woman, a person of color, or from another historically underrepresented group and write a brief biography (1 page) about that individual. Be sure to include:
Biographical details as well as a summary of their philosophical thinking
Something from their philosophy that you can directly link to a concept or idea in contemporary Psychology

Scenario 2-Personal
It’s the time of year when you gather with friends and family. Recent events in the news that impact different cultures have caused differences of opinion related to issues of justice and fairness, creating conflict with those you care about. You are hosting the next holiday celebration with your family members and friends with diverse thoughts and opinions. Conflict #2 – Feeling excluded from your friends
You and your group of friends have different abilities and come from different cultures. You’ve recently experienced a life change and, as a result, you are feeling more increasingly excluded from your group of friends. You used to hang out together all the time, but now you find yourself left out of their plans and conversations. Whenever you try to join in, they seem to ignore you and brush you off.

You will first conduct an assessment to collect important information about her condition so that you can then create a treatment plan. By the time that you have completed the assignment, you will have used the Biopsychosocial model of addiction, the DSM-5-TR (university library), and the ASAM placement criteria (p.403 of your text).

Listen carefully to the audio recording of a client discussing her concerns. It is recommended that you listen a few times. Typically, clients do not explain all of their concerns in a logical order, so you will need the information gathered in your notes. It is recommended that you listen for:
Biological factors: symptoms (complaints of physical or psychological discomfort)
Psychological factors: presenting problem (why is she coming to treatment, not always
because a client wants treatment), cognitive problems, or emotional problems
Social factors: relationship problems, strength of social support system, and
employment status
Complete the Treatment Plan template using your notes, the DSM-5-TR, and ASAM placement criteria. The goals and interventions should be appropriate to the Biopsychosocial Model of addiction. The Treatment Plan should consist of:
A summary of the client’s reported biological, psychological, and social problems
At least three specific SMART treatment goals that relate directly to the scenario
Proposed interventions for each goal
The given diagnosis is Alcohol Use Disorder, 303.90 [F10.20]. Using the DSM, provide support as to whether the given diagnosis is correct. If it is not, explain why and what may be missing or is needed to make the correct diagnosis.

Be sure to use your notes from listening to Cheyenne’s Scenario. If you feel that some of the information is missing, you may create additional details about her case. However, be certain that it is not first provided in the audio interview and that you include those new details in your summary section.
