“Overcoming Challenges in Researching Scholarly Articles for the Capstone Project: Strategies and Resources”
CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES FOR RESEARCHING SCHOLARLY ARTICLES
There are often two primary challenges when researching a problem: an overabundance of articles that result from the search process, or very few articles that result from the search process. Search strategies involve specific keywords so that your problem is the central focus of the articles that you find. The Walden University Library has helpful materials for how to search for your sources. The librarians are also available to answer your questions about finding the articles that you need. Since the Capstone Project is a research paper, nearly all of your sources should be peer-reviewed articles. One simple way to research peer-reviewed articles is to check this box when creating a search in the Walden University Library. For this Discussion you will explain some of the challenges or strategies that you used in your search for scholarly articles.

“Examining the Use of Neuropsychological Tests in Individuals with Neurological Disorders”
Hello, thank you for sharing the material you presented within your initial discussion post. I believe the topic of examining concussions in children is interesting in relation to their cognitive development in comparison to adults. I found research, which utilized neuropsychological tests. Long et al.(2023) presented research which focused on examining executive functions in ndividuals diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The study had adult participants who utilized computerized neuropsychological tests, namely the Cambridge Neuropscychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB) (Long et al., 2023). According to Long et al.(2023) three core areas were measured to determine the neurocognitive ability of each participant, which include being able to absorb and store visuospatial information, to be able to redirect focus on stimuli and one’s capability to respond. The results indicated the participants diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder didn’t have any concerns related to utilizing the variety of computerized tests (Long et al., 2023). In general, do you feel it’s assumed individuals who have been diagnosed with a neurological disorder, would struggle with utilizing assessments? Why or why not?

“Chapter 2: Literature Review Draft” Chapter 2: Literature Review Draft Introduction and Purpose: The purpose of this literature review is to examine the current research on the effects of technology on children’s cognitive development. With the increasing prevalence of technology
This milestone is all about drafting a much as you can of your Chapter 2: Literature Review.
Remember, as discussed in class, you should begin by drafting the body sections of your literature review. Every body section will have its own Level 2 heading. It is up to you if you want to break that section into smaller pieces with Level 3 headings. Then, as you write each of the body sections, each section should have its own mini introduction, supporting details from your sources (paraphrase, cite, state the so-what), and then a mini conclusion.
After you finish your body sections, you may then draft the one paragraph “Introduction and Purpose” section to the chapter.
Finally, you can then draft your “Conclusion” section, where you tie all of the information together, recap major points, and indicate where more research should be conducted. -

Exploring the Intersection of Psychology and Criminal Justice through Applied Psychology in Criminal Justice Journal
Applied Psychology in Criminal Justice is published twice a year and publishes research on the intersection of psychology and criminal justice as well as the social and psychological aspects of human behavior. It covers a lot of different topics such as diversity, social organization, crime victims, social networks, recidivism rates, murder trials, police legitimacy and many more topics. What I noticed about the topics is it made me question where psychology comes into different topics such as recidivism rates and police legitimacy. I read two articles to gain a better idea of the research, “Perceptions of Criminal Responsibility through the Lens of Race” and I was intrigued by these articles to see how they pertained to the topics that are covered in the journal. A brief description of “Perceptions of Criminal Responsibility through the Lens of Race” is racial disparity in the criminal justice system and how it affects the outcomes of cases in court (Gamache et.al, 2021). On the surface of this article, I did not see how it is related to forensic psychology but after deeper thought and reflection I realized the decision-making in racial disparity has a role in psychology as it is related to the social aspect of human behavior. The article “Cheese It, It’s the Fuzz: Testing the Belief That Guilt Predicts Police Avoidance” discusses the purpose of the fourth amendment and how it pertains to lawful searches and seizures and how it affects the role of law enforcement. It further discusses how guilt can create an avoidance to police and what constitutes reasonable suspicion as a person flees from the police based on seeing a uniformed officer.
I would say I was surprised by the broader topics of forensic psychology that this journal covers. As I learn more about forensic psychology, I gain knowledge of how it pertains to diversity, social organization, and police legitimacy as listed above. Each of the topics that this journal covers creates a reason to dive deeper into forensic psychology and gain more knowledge. According to the topics and the research within the articles this journal is aligned with my career objectives. My main objective is to work in investigative and police psychology and these topics cover investigative practices and how they intersect with psychology.

Are there tables and figures included in the Results section? Describe what is shown in one or more of these tables and figures. Did you notice a figure legend at the top or bottom of the Tables/Graphs? What type of information did it contain?
Do you think the results supported the researcher’s hypothesis? Why or why not?
Name two things you found most interesting about the contents of your Results section and two things you found most challenging. -
Exploring the Intersection of Forensic Psychology and Victimology: A Critical Analysis of Recent Research and Practice
When looking at the psychology journals, the Journal of Forensic Psychology Research and Practice. The Journal of Forensic Psychology covers numerous academic fields: Research and Practice, including clinical psychology, law, criminology, sociology, forensic psychology, counseling psychology, and sociology. Promoting justice and social change gives forensic psychology practitioners a place to debate recent developments and research, fosters the original study, and critically examines new information (Taylor & Francis Online, n.d.).
An article titled Coherence in Children’s Reports of Sexual Abuse: Age, PTSD, and Questioning Style by Miragoli et al. (2019). The article covers an analysis of 82 child witness depositions, which revealed that age and narrative coherence were positively correlated, but age and post-traumatic symptomatology were negatively correlated. Coherence was affected more favorably by free invites and closed-ended questions than by open-ended ones. Understanding these factors is essential to enhancing child victims’ safety and assistance (Miragoli et al., 2019).
Victimology is a rapidly expanding field of study that combines sociology, criminology, psychology, and criminal justice to investigate the reasons behind crime. The majority of the data used in Victimology comes from the National Crime Victimization Survey, with a focus on nonheterosexual people, children, women, the elderly, immigrants, and victims of violent crimes (Troshynski, 2022). As a future forensic psychologist, I plan to focus primarily on Victimology, and the journal I looked at showed a lot of articles surrounding Victimology. Learning about these things allows you to see what you could enter or see within the field.
