  • Title: Fatah’s Perspective on the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict: A Discussion of Two-State and One-State Solutions, Settlements, Land Swaps, Borders, Recognition, and Jerusalem Introduction The Palestinian-Israeli conflict has been ongoing for

Write a paper 4-5 pages that investigates and presents the perspectives of the party that you represent(Fatah). What does your party (Fatah) think about a two state solution? A one state solution?  Settlements and their dismantlement? Land swaps? The use of 1967 borders as a starting point for negotiations? Recognition of Israel as a Jewish state? The status of Jerusalem?  In your paper grapple with these questions and fully engage with your party (Fatah) a perspective on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
    Please note a few things:
Even though you represent a party, you may also include and discuss the views of prominent party members.
Your paper must include both citations and references.
Please organize your paper into ideas or topics.  This is a descriptive rather than analytical paper but it should still have structure.

  • “The Debate on Affirmative Action in Public Universities: A Call for Continuation”

    POSITION PAPERS
For this assignment, you need to choose a position, either for or against, on two of the following statements or resolutions (one from each section, due on different dates). Then, in no less than 1,000 and no more than 1,200 words for each (double-spaced, 12 point font), you need to state and defend it using evidence and a logical and coherent argument that also anticipates criticism from opponents and attacks their point of view. In some ways, I view this assignment like debate preparation. It’s as if you are putting together an opening or closing statement before going in front of the Oxford Union (for more on these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEchkn3unl8).
Be careful as you research. Make sure your source is reputable. Let me know if you need guidance. You can use parenthetical references (with a citation page), endnotes or footnotes when you reference other people’s work, but please be consistent throughout the paper. If you cite from the Internet, you must give me the URL and full citation.
Citations are only required if you provide a direct quotation or refer to a unique and important idea or contention. Do not quote facts or material that is unrelated to the surrounding text. Do not use lengthy quotes. You may use the first person. Please signify which resolution you are addressing. There is no need for a title or a title page.
Please feel free to contact me as you write your essay. I can help you find sources and to think about your argument. When you write, make sure your argument is backed up with evidence. Why do you say what you say? Don’t use generalizations without providing evidence to bolster your claim. The more systematic (and less anecdotal) your evidence the better, although colorful and appropriate anecdotes can make your argument more interesting.
Also, please please proofread! No matter how long students have to do their paper, I always receive assignments riddled with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. These inevitably hurt the author’s ability to get the point across and, besides, I want to reward good writing. If you want to be successful in life, you need to learn to write well.
A final tip: Don’t just sit down at your computer and start to write. Plan your essay by listing the points you wish to make and arranging them in an order that makes sense. Then fill out these points and connect them in a manner that allows the essay to read smoothly.
Please note the comments about plagiarism and AI-generated text in the syllabus.

the key factors that have contributed to the success or failure of the ICC’s efforts in
    preventing genocide in the region?”Your final essay shall include the following components;

should give readers a quick overview of the paper’s content. (appr. 250 words)
    – 3-5 Keywords
    – Introduction (1-2 pages): The introduction sets the stage for the research by providing
background information, stating the research question or hypothesis, and explaining the
    significance of the study.
This part should also summarize the structure of your paper (a guide to the reader; for
example, you can tell in the first part that you reviewed the literature around four schools
of thoughts/concepts/theories – depending on your research design; then you can tell in
the second part you made your analysis around different themes or may be different
countries if it is a comparison, again depending your research design, finally indicate
your main findings in a few sentences) (1-2 paragraph)
    – Literature Review (5-8 pages): This section reviews relevant literature and research
that has been published on the topic. It demonstrates the author’s understanding of the
existing knowledge in the field and highlights the gap that the current research aims to

techniques used in the study. It should include details on data collection, sample
selection, design, and any statistical analyses. You can also discuss limitations here.
    – Results/Analysis and Discussion (8-12 pages): The results section presents the
findings of the study in a clear and organized manner. You can have different subtitles
depending on your design, but do not overload the number of your subtitles; be precise.
In terms of discussion, you should interpret your findings. For example, do not simply
say that a relationship exists but also explain how this mechanism works discuss their
implications, and relate them to your research question
    – Conclusion (1 page): The conclusion summarizes the key findings of the study and
    discusses their implications.
    – Bibliography2: The references section lists all the sources cited in the paper.
Please carefully prepare your in-text citations and final references, be consistent
    throughout the paper.
    – Appendices (optional): Additional material that is not essential to the main text but
provides supplementary information, such as raw data or your interview questions.
Remember that this is a general outline, and the specific requirements for each section may vary
depending on the field of study. These are mainly suggestions; you do not have to follow exactly

the same patterns; however, somehow, you are expected to touch upon all these components,
even if it is in different formations. Also, the given lengths can be longer or shorter; they are
provided to give you an idea, but make sure that you give a proper and complete insight about
    each part.
Remember, there is no copy-paste pattern when doing research, but while grading, these
instructions will be taken into consideration, and your performance will be evaluated based on
those criteria, so you should carefully read.
Overall, your essay is expected to be around 15-20 pages (without references). You can use
Times New Roman, 12 punto, 1,5 space.. Write with
clear sentences, and avoid complicated phrases. Establish the linkages between different
    parts and show your meticulousness.
    – Research writing is formal! Avoid personal opinion and informal language. Support
statements with citations and/or empirical pieces of evidence.
    – Find a research article that you like the structure and follow that.
    – Identify a puzzle. (If you are doing a descriptive study, make sure that this is a brand
new topic; otherwise, why do we need that information?) Design outlines and consider different dimensions of your topic
summarize the general outlines and discussions of this literature as a whole.

  • “The Effectiveness of the United Nations: Addressing Criticisms and Understanding its Capabilities”

    ONLY USE BOOK I LINKED
Assignment Name: Assessing the Effectiveness of the United Nations (over BBQ chicken and macaroni salad)
Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to assess whether you understand what functions the United Nations performs, the authorities it possesses and its limits in seeking to solve world problems. By completing this assignment, you will acquire a better appreciation for the strengths and weaknesses of the United Nations as a tool for global governance and be able to better differentiate between legitimate and illegitimate criticisms of this institution.
Skills: Students will develop the following skills
Analyze the powers and authorities of the UN and their limits
Critically evaluate criticisms leveled at the United Nations
Explain why the UN often fails to realize the goals the organization and its member states seek to achieve
    Knowledge:
Students will be able to identify some of the central functions of the United Nations as an international organization
Students will be able to assess criticisms of the UN in light of their knowledge about the limits of the UN’s power and authority
    Task:
Imagine the following hypothetical scenario: you are visiting your cousin’s house for a BBQ on July 4th. After several servings of BBQ chicken and macaroni salad, your cousin turns to you and says: “So I hear you’re taking a class on International Organizations in college. Maybe you can answer a question for me: what good is the United Nations if it can’t prevent a country like Russia from invading a country like Ukraine? The UN strikes me as nothing more than a useless, bloated bureaucracy that is all talk and no action. I think the US should just pull out of the UN since it is obviously useless for solving global problems.” How would you respond to your cousin?
Write a two-page memo (double-spaced, 12-inch font, 1-inch margins) which summarizes the response you would give to your cousin. Focus on addressing all the points that your cousin raises about the UN, noting where their criticism is legitimate, where it rests upon a misunderstanding of the power and purpose of the UN, and where it is simply untrue. You do not need to defend the UN in your response, but you should discuss what the UN is capable of doing, what roles it is designed to play in world politics, and what are the limits of its power and authority.
    Criteria for Success:
In order to do well on this assignment, you must demonstrate that you understand the power and authority the UN has been given and the limits of that power. You should, for example, clearly explain the role the UN and its various organs is intended to play in preventing war and promoting international security and why the UN was unable to prevent the Russian invasion of Ukraine. You should also discuss whether you think this means the UN is a “useless” organization. You should also address your cousin’s criticisms that the UN is a bloated bureaucracy that is all talk and no action. What elements of this criticism are true? What elements are overstatements or simply false?
Finally, be sure you also address your cousin’s claim that the US should pull out of the UN. Does the US derive any benefits from remaining a member of the UN? Is the UN useless as your cousin claims?

  • Title: The Impact of Bureaucracy on the Everyday Citizen: A Critical Analysis

How does bureaucracy affect your life and freedom as an ordinary citizen?

3 sources needed: 2 scholarly and  1 from textbook

  • Media Coverage of American Foreign Policy and War: A Critical Analysis

The paper should be a minimum of 7 pages, not including a cover page.
Topic: How do the American media cover foreign policy and war? And WHY do they cover
    them in that way/those ways?
To answer this question you must do five things.
    1) Discuss the Chomsky reading (chapters 2 and 3), which provides a theoretical perspective on how the media cover events in different
    foreign countries.
    2) Discuss Entman’s cascading activation model, which is presented as a contrast to Chomsky’s hegemony model).
    3) Discuss AT LEAST ONE of the following case studies from the readings: the KAL/Iran Air case, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Libya, Iraq.
    4) Discuss AT LEAST ONE of the following readings: Graber chapter 6, 34, or 27 (on amateur journalism, censorship in war, or sanitization of war) or Haigh, “A Comparison of Embedded and Non-Embedded Print Coverage.”
    5) Read and discuss 2 newspaper articles of your choosing that deal with US foreign
policy or wars. The articles can come from national or local papers, so long as they are AMERICAN news sources.
The articles you choose must be HARD NEWS stories, NOT editorials or opinion pieces. Ask if you are not sure. Non-hard news
stories often specify “editorial” or “opinion” or “commentary.” If it says “news analysis,” it is hard news.
Some suggestions for article topics: current situation in Ukraine, US relations with China, US fight against ISIS, international climate change negotiations. At the end of the paper, include a separate bibliographical page for your newspaper articles. It should list a) the author of the article, b) title of the article, c) newspaper name, d) date of publication.
You don’t have to put course readings in the bibliography. Only put books or articles if they are something you read outside of class.
** FORMATTING: You should use margins of 1.25 on each side and on the
top and bottom. Make sure to use a 12 point font, preferably Times New Roman.
The paper must be DOUBLE SPACED and the PAGES MUST BE NUMBERED.
If you cite from an assigned course reading, please use the following format:
“The media is a propaganda machine for the government.” (Herman and
    Chomsky, p. 59).
If you cite from an outside source, use the same format and include the
source in your bibliographic page after your newspaper articles.
Below are some of my personal “pet peeves” when it comes to writing, to keep in mind when you write your paper. (I have conveyed these already on some past papers for this class). These are concerns other professors share, so it’s not just me you will be pleasing by focusing on these things.
    1. Avoid paragraphs (and sentences) that run on and on. Find “natural”
places to separate your ideas, and give the reader a break before he/she starts
another paragraph. It is hard to follow someone’s ideas when they ramble on for,
say, two pages straight with no break point. My rule of thumb is no paragraph
should be longer than one page. And as you learned in K-12, you should try to
connect the paragraphs with a transition sentence, so that you don’t just randomly
leap from discussion of one topic to discussion of a totally unrelated topic.
    2. Make sure your sentences are really sentences, not just phrases.
    3. Pay attention to use of singular versus plural; make sure your subjects and
    verbs correspond.
    4. Use spell check and grammar check, but also read over the final version
once. Some mistakes don’t show up on spell check; a word may be spelled correctly
but be the wrong word for that sentence. It doesn’t take that long to proofread your
paper once and I promise you will catch at least one error, and the final product will
    read better for your efforts.
