But, understand this is an essay and should be written in a scholarly manner, not like a conversation.  When relating a real-life example, it is easy to fall into using run-on sentences, incorrect grammar, and slang terms.  So, be mindful that your essay sounds professional.
Understand you are relating real life examples for the PURPOSE of expounding on what you have learned from the concepts in your readings.  You should first describe the assigned concepts and use the examples as a means of linking the concepts in your assigned readings to real life or how the concepts apply to real practice.  Focus less on describing your account of the example and more on relaying your new knowledge.  Look into the description of your assignment for those keywords that tie back to your assigned readings.  Think of writing an essay to someone who knows nothing of the subject you are studying.  Use your example to “show off” your new knowledge. 
Here is a more specific example:  If your assignment called for you to describe types of conflict and provide an example of a conflict you have observed.  You would not run on like you were conversing about the details of the conflict.  You would provide details about the concept of conflict and touch on what you have observed only as a supporting example.

Conflict occurring between people is known as interpersonal conflict and is the most common type of conflict. I personally observed an example of interpersonal conflict as two employees were showing visible signs of hostility towards each other(Folse, 2015).

During this module of study, I hope to learn how to incorporate evidence-based decision-making models in planning for the coordination of person-centered care. By using different cases and examples for study, I understood that effective healthcare management requires not only clinical knowledge but also strategic decision-making that is supported by evidence. For example, algorithmic approaches to healthcare decision-making models would differ in terms of the type and level of complexity depending on situational variables involved in care. Cultural and ethical awareness within the decision-making processes is another aspect that needs consideration, given that this is another essential modifier of patient outcomes and satisfaction. It is necessary to carefully delve into various decision-making frameworks and their applicability to different clinical scenarios to ensure that care is both high-quality and tailored to individual patient needs.
The knowledge of evidence-based decision-making models aligns with Course Outcome 1, which states that healthcare professionals should incorporate these models in planning for the coordination of person-centred care. By acknowledging these models, I aim to be able to understand how the best decision in any given situation can be arrived at, given that the process is grounded on sound evidence and practice. You will prepare an annotated bibliography on technology in nursing. A well-prepared annotated bibliography is a comprehensive commentary on the content of scholarly publications and other sources of evidence about a selected nursing-related technology. A bibliography of this type provides a vehicle for workplace discussion to address gaps in nursing practice and to improve patient care outcomes. As nurses become more accountable in their practice, they are being called upon to expand their role of caregiver and advocate to include fostering research and scholarship to advance nursing practice. Direct patient care technologies require an interaction, or direct contact, between the nurse and patient. Nurses use direct patient care technologies every day when delivering care to patients. Electronic thermometers or pulse oximeters are examples of direct patient care technologies.

Megan,
The course exceeded my expectations as a continuation of what we gained from part one of this course. I anticipated further diving into our research study and constructing it; however, it was more detailed than anticipated. Working up until the last week and leaning more towards developing the research study was different from what we previously focused on. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the class, and it provided a solid foundation for future research. One of the most valuable lessons I learned through the course was completing the institutional review board. Personally, I do not see myself conducting my own research study, but I see multiple valuable lessons within the course. Admittedly, I struggled with the presentation at the end, limiting what to share when we worked for the last sixteen weeks leading up to the final project. Ultimately, I have gained knowledge that will help throughout the remainder of our program. The ability to present a presentation boosted my confidence as I am typically embarrassed to speak in public. Each week, I found the content in the course to be well-developed and thought out; I did not find anything I was unsure about. The statistical section was a little more challenging, but with the additional resources, I was able to comprehend it. If I were to suggest an area for more coverage, I would choose additional resources or examples of the institutional review board application since I felt part of it did not apply to our project, which made it slightly confusing.
Because of this course, how have you changed personally, professionally, and/or spiritually? How can you use research to serve God and humanity in your future role?
Looking back on the last eight weeks, this course has helped me grow and change personally, professionally, and spiritually. At a personal development level, pretending I am conducting a research project and the implications into practice, completing the application and presentation challenged my critical thinking. Time management is typically something I continue to grow in when working full-time and being a full-time student. Creating a balance to allow me to excel in both aspects of my life is important. My time management improvements impact my professional and personal obligations in a positive manner as well. I have continued to completely immerse myself within the course and learning objectives, allowing me to expand my knowledge and professional growth to become a family nurse practitioner. Thinking about all the various aspects involved in conducting and creating an evidence-based practice study provides me with an appreciation for our nurse researchers and the possibility of the future of healthcare. The course ultimately will assist in helping me to understand what it takes to provide quality, evidence-based practice care for my patients. Spiritually, I have grown just as relying on him not to feel overwhelmed and validate why I am working so hard. I have grown on a spiritual level as I am reflecting more often. I can use research to serve God and humanity in my future role in multiple ways. One, I can address social issues and allow with principles of social justice when researching healthcare disparities or seeking out evidence-based solutions. I had developed three goals for NRSG 680. As a refresher, one goal I created was to develop the necessary skills to design and implement research projects further. Another goal was to strengthen my collaboration and communication skills. Finally, the last goal was to commit to the mindset of growth. I feel like I have accomplished these goals throughout the last eight weeks. I can utilize my new knowledge to contribute to professional nursing, my advanced practice career, and lifelong learning. I will be able to contribute by understanding the rigorous protocols and effort it takes to develop evidence-based practice and disseminate quality research. On my lifelong learning journey, having mentors and role models who can support my professional growth is important. One role model I have who inspires me is a recent Olivet graduate who is an APN at my clinic. She is committed to advocating for patient-centered care, which aligns closely with my aspirations for their knowledge in dermatology. I have always admired the way she balanced school and professional work life. I plan to continue to look to her for guidance in navigating. Additionally, I am fortunate to have my physician as a mentor. The practical steps for implementing a study provided a deeper understanding and advanced learning. The inclusion of real-world applications and detailed discussions on each phase of research preparation enriched my learning experience significantly. The most crucial learning experience was understanding the detailed process of developing and implementing a research study from conception to execution. Learning to craft a PICOT question and navigating through the complexities of retrospective study designs, data analysis, and ethical considerations were particularly valuable. These skills directly apply to clinical research and evidence-based practice in nursing, making them indispensable for my future role as an APN. While the course was comprehensive, a more in-depth exploration of advanced statistical methods and software tools for data analysis could have been beneficial. Understanding these tools and their applications in various research contexts would enhance my ability to handle complex data sets and perform sophisticated analyses. Overall, this course has provided a robust foundation in research methodologies, emphasizing practical application in the clinical setting. During week eight of NRSG 679, I set goals to enhance my research skills and apply them to enhance clinical practice. This course has equipped me with the tools and knowledge to achieve these goals. I now intend to contribute to my current nursing career by engaging in research that informs best practices and supports evidence-based care. I also plan to contribute to my future APN career by applying my research skills to develop innovative solutions to clinical problems within my specialty. I am committed to lifelong learning by pledging to continuous education and staying updated with the latest research to maintain a high standard of practice. To support my professional growth, I look up to experienced researchers and clinicians who have successfully integrated research into their practice. I will seek mentorship from my professors, the expert APNs I work with, and clinical researchers who can provide guidance, share their experiences, and help navigate the challenges of conducting impactful research. These mentors will be crucial as I continue to develop my skills and contribute to the field of nursing and advanced practice.
