For this assessment, you will develop an 8 slide PowerPoint presentation with thorough speaker’s notes designed for a hypothetical in-service session related to the improvement plan you developed in Assessment 2.
    Scenario
For this assessment, build on the work that you have done in your first two assessments and create an agenda and PowerPoint of an educational in-service session that would help a specific staff audience learn, provide feedback, and understand their roles and practice new skills related to the safety improvement plan you created.
    Instructions
The final deliverable for this assessment will be a PowerPoint presentation with detailed presenter’s notes representing the material you would deliver at an in-service session to raise awareness of your chosen safety improvement initiative focusing on a specific patient safety issue and to explain the need for such an initiative. Additionally, you must educate the audience as to their role and importance to the success of the initiative. This includes providing examples and practice opportunities to test out new ideas or practices related to the safety improvement initiative.
Be sure that your presentation addresses the following, which corresponds to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. Please study the scoring guide carefully so you understand what is needed for a distinguished score.
Describe the purpose and goals of an in-service session focusing on a specific patient safety issue.
Explain the need for and process to improve safety outcomes related to a specific patient safety issue.
Explain to the audience their role and importance of making the improvement plan successful.
Create resources or activities to encourage skill development and process understanding related to a safety improvement initiative.
Communicate with nurses in a respectful and informative way that clearly presents expectations and solicits feedback on communication strategies for future improvement.
There are various ways to structure an in-service session; below is just one example:
    Part 1: Agenda and Outcomes.
Explain to your audience what they are going to learn or do, and what they are expected to take away.
    Part 2: Safety Improvement Plan.
Give an overview of the current problem focusing on a specific patient safety issue, the proposed plan, and what the improvement plan is trying to address.
Explain why it is important for the organization to address the current situation.
Part 3: Audience’s Role and Importance.
Discuss how the staff audience will be expected to help implement and drive the improvement plan.
Explain why they are critical to the success of the improvement plan focusing on a specific patient safety issue.
Describe how their work could benefit from embracing their role in the plan.
Part 4: New Process and Skills Practice.
    Explain new processes or skills.
Develop an activity that allows the staff audience to practice and ask questions about these new processes and skills.
In the notes section of your PowerPoint, brainstorm potential responses to likely questions or concerns.
    Part 5: Soliciting Feedback.
Describe how you would solicit feedback from the audience on the improvement plan and the in-service.
Explain how you might integrate this feedback for future improvements.
    Additional Requirements
Presentation length: There is no required length; use just enough slides to address all the necessary elements. Remember to use short, concise bullet points on the slides and expand on your points in the presenter’s notes. If you use 2 or 3 slides to address each of the parts in the above example, your presentation would be at least 10 slides and no more than 15 slides (not including the title, conclusion, or references slides).
Speaker notes: Speaker notes (located under each slide) should reflect what you would actually say if you were delivering the presentation to an audience. This presentation does NOT require audio or a transcript. Another presenter would be able to use the presentation by following the speaker’s notes.
APA format: Use APA formatting for in-text citations. Include an APA-formatted reference slide at the end of your presentation.
Number of references: Cite a minimum of 3 sources of scholarly or professional evidence to support your assertions. Resources should be no more than 5 years old.

  • “Managing Caregiver Role Strain and Complications of Epilepsy: A Nursing Perspective”

Please respond to each post with a thought-provoking question and a reference to each post.
    POST 1 VICTORIA
As the caregiver of my patient with multiple sclerosis, I have developed the nursing diagnosis: Caregiver role strain as evidenced by the caregiver’s reports of feeling overwhelmed related to the client’s increased need for care.
My SMART outcome for the caregiver is:
The caregiver will identify one person or resource to assist with at least one aspect of the client’s care at the next visit in 1 week.
Multiple sclerosis also referred to as MS is chronic, progressive disease affecting the myelin sheath.  By damaging the myelin coating around nerves the impulses are interrupted causing impaired muscle and cognitive function.  (Althoff et al, 2023)  A client with MS can have difficulties with ADLs, walking, speech and memory loss causing the client to require extensive care.
Providing ongoing care for a loved one can cause stress on the caregiver.  This increased stress can negatively impact the caregiver’s mental and physical health.  The caregiver my experience a decrease in social activities and ignore their own health causing a decrease in quality of life.  As the health of the caregiver decreases so does the care that is provided. (Liu et al, 2020)
It is important to recognize caregiver role strain both for the health of the caregiver and the client.  Encouraging the caregiver to discuss feelings of being overwhelmed, social isolation and stress can help the caregiver feel as though they are not alone.  The nurse can not only help the caregiver identify role strain but assist in finding resources, developing a support network and developing a plan for self care. (Mayo, 2024)
    POST 2 STEVE
PES – Acute alterations in mental status as evidenced by decrease in consciousness and inappropriate response to stimuli.
A caregiver for a patient suffering from Epilepsy must be concerned with several complications as a result of the disorder. Epilepsy is a condition in which a patient has an acute onset of an altered level of consciousness that may also be accompanied by muscle twitching or jerking (Mayo Clinic, 2023). This sudden change can be very dangerous to the patient and will require the caregiver to pay close attention to their behavior. These patients are prone to falls, can cause car accidents, and are even at greater risk for drowning (Mayo Clinic, 2023). The caregiver must take precautions for patients with known seizures to prevent them from falling and causing additional trauma (Mayo Clinic, 2023). This may include assisting them when ambulating around, placing a tray table across them when sitting in a chair, and keeping the bed at the lowest level with the side rails raised. The patient can help control the frequency of seizures by identifying their triggers and also maintaining a proper medication regiment (Mayo Clinic, 2023).
A SMART outcome for this patient could be – The patient will demonstrate proper medication adherence by keeping a daily log for one month to be reviewed with their provider on the next office visit.

*****NO AI , PROFESSOR WILL CHECK******
You are helping out at a community health facility’s immunization clinic.  You have a pediatric patient (11 years old) and mom arriving to the clinic, with mom stating her child needs their 11-year-old shots for school.  When asking mom on what vaccines the child needs, mom states she is not 100% sure but believes she needs tetanus, and meningitis.  Unfortunately, mom does not have the child’s vaccine record available during the visit but needs them administered so the child can go to school tomorrow.  How would you respond to mom and what would you do to help the patient receive the vaccines they need?
