Hematopoietic and Cardiovascular Case Studies: Risk Factors, Symptoms, and Treatment Recommendations Title: “Diagnosing and Understanding Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Case Study of Mr. W.G.”
Hematopoietic:
J.D. is a 37 years old white woman who presents to her gynecologist complaining of a 2-month history of intermenstrual bleeding, menorrhagia, increased urinary frequency, mild incontinence, extreme fatigue, and weakness. Her menstrual period occurs every 28 days and lately there have been 6 days of heavy flow and cramping. She denies abdominal distension, back-ache, and constipation. She has not had her usual energy levels since before her last pregnancy.
Past Medical History (PMH):
Upon reviewing her past medical history, the gynecologist notes that her patient is a G5P5with four pregnancies within four years, the last infant having been delivered vaginally four months ago. All five pregnancies were unremarkable and without delivery complications. All infants were born healthy. Patient history also reveals a 3-year history of osteoarthritis in the left knee, probably the result of sustaining significant trauma to her knee in an MVA when she was 9 years old. When asked what OTC medications she is currently taking for her pain and for how long she has been taking them, she reveals that she started taking ibuprofen, three tablets each day, about 2.5 years ago for her left knee. Due to a slowly progressive increase in pain and a loss of adequate relief with three tablets, she doubled the daily dose of ibuprofen. Upon the recommendation from her nurse practitioner and because long-term ibuprofen use can cause peptic ulcers, she began taking OTC omeprazole on a regular basis to prevent gastrointestinal bleeding. Patient history also reveals a 3-year history of HTN for which she is now being treated with a diuretic and a centrally acting antihypertensive drug. She has had no previous surgeries.
Case Study Questions
Name the contributing factors on J.D that might put her at risk to develop iron deficiency anemia.
Within the case study, describe the reasons why J.D. might be presenting constipation and or dehydration.
Why Vitamin B12 and folic acid are important on the erythropoiesis? What abnormalities their deficiency might cause on the red blood cells?
The gynecologist is suspecting that J.D. might be experiencing iron deficiency anemia.
In order to support the diagnosis, list and describe the clinical symptoms that J.D. might have positive for Iron deficiency anemia.
If the patient is diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia, what do you expect to find as signs of this type of anemia? List and describe.
Labs results came back for the patient. Hb 10.2 g/dL; Hct 30.8%; Ferritin 9 ng/dL; red blood cells are smaller and paler in color than normal. Research list and describe for appropriate recommendations and treatments for J.D.
Cardiovascular
Mr. W.G. is a 53-year-old white man who began to experience chest discomfort while playing tennis with a friend. At first, he attributed his discomfort to the heat and having had a large breakfast. Gradually, however, discomfort intensified to a crushing sensation in the sternal area and the pain seemed to spread upward into his neck and lower jaw. The nature of the pain did not seem to change with deep breathing. When Mr. G. complained of feeling nauseated and began rubbing his chest, his tennis partner was concerned that his friend was having a heart attack and called 911 on his cell phone. The patient was transported to the ED of the nearest hospital and arrived within 30 minutes of the onset of chest pain. In route to the hospital, the patient was placed on nasal cannula and an IV D5W was started. Mr. G. received aspirin (325 mg po) and 2 mg/IV morphine. He is allergic to meperidine (rash). His pain has eased slightly in the last 15 minutes but is still significant; was 9/10 in severity; now7/10. In the ED, chest pain was not relieved by 3 SL NTG tablets. He denies chills.
Case Study Questions
For patients at risk of developing coronary artery disease and patients diagnosed with acute myocardial infarct, describe the modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors.
What would you expect to see on Mr. W.G. EKG and which findings described on the case are compatible with the acute coronary event?
Having only the opportunity to choose one laboratory test to confirm the acute myocardial infarct, which would be the most specific laboratory test you would choose and why?
How do you explain that Mr. W.G temperature has increased after his Myocardial Infarct, when that can be observed and for how long? Base your answer on the pathophysiology of the event.
Explain to Mr. W.G. why he was experiencing pain during his Myocardial Infarct. Elaborate and support your answer. -

In today’s rapidly evolving healthcare, it is crucial to develop innovative projects that address the growing needs of both healthcare providers and the diverse patient population. Focusing on eliminating waste of blood products in the operating room, I have realized that such initiative has the potential to significantly improve efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance patient care. When working through each phase of this project lifecycle, planning, development, implementation and evaluation, I am confident that this initiative will meet the complex demands of modern healthcare.
When planning began, a needs assessment helps to analyze the current workflow process, identifies and barriers, enables staff to be engaged with the discussions and how it is impacted specific patient populations (Association, A. N. (2015). With this information allows to establish the measurable goal for elimination of blood products.
The development phase provides collaboration between interdisciplinary teams, the diversity among each team helps to address the needs of all, especially when using the modern technology to support efficiency and accuracy.
Implementation phase and rollout when establishing a robust training program which addresses various roles, needs among the healthcare system. And provides ongoing support and resources for continuous learning.
BY using quantitative and qualitative data during the evaluation process helps to share the lessons learned, best practices and identifies areas for improvement. This provides data-driven decisions that help healthcare systems make more informed decisions.
As healthcare continues to evolve, this project can contribute to more efficient, safe and patient-centered healthcare system. I realize that such an innovative project will be crucial in meeting the growing and changing needs of our society.

2) Answer the question /contribute with intriguiing conversation to these post with 1 NEW Source (within less than 5 years). Min. 200words. Reflecting deeper, what do you feel are the most important key points to advocacy in the nursing profession? How about as a Master’s prepared nurse? This questions is from post below:
The healthcare profession is always active and must constantly be prepared for change to adapt to new trends and issues. Since the roles and needs of a nurse who graduates from a master’s degree program are constantly changing, it is essential to show competencies that facilitate responding to these needs. My practicum project, which involved developing and proposing a comprehensive Aggressive/Hostile Behavioral Visitation Policy and Procedure Manual, has prepared me to meet these demands, particularly in health policy and advocacy, aligning with Essential VI: Health Policy and Advocacy.
Planning and Development of the Project
This research focuses on the planning and development of the project. In the planning phase of my project, I realized that Jackson Hospital had a severe weakness in the current visitation policy, which needed explicit provisions for handling aggressive conduct. It helped me to define the range of issues I would focus on in my project at its early stage. The lack of a coherent and adequately developed policy was dangerous for the patients, the staff, and all the people visiting the hospital. To achieve this objective, I aimed to improve the hospital’s safety and quality since this area posed a significant problem. This corresponds with Essential VI as it is clear from the above discussion how policy formulation impacts healthcare settings and patients.
Implementation
For this project to be instigated, it was imperative to understand the legal and ethical aspects of patient handling. For instance, the legal limitation of being unable to ‘fire’ a patient due to their inappropriate behavior forced them to seek a solution that would work. Working with the legal consultants and the hospital administration, I devised a policy to protect patient’s rights while ensuring that healthcare facilities were safe for everyone. This process was a clear example of health policy advocacy in that it ensured the policy was legally sound and that all stakeholders involved were protected from harm.
Utilization of Informatics
The application of healthcare informatics is among the critical approaches in this process. Using Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and data analysis, I could register cases of assertive conduct and determine its trends and contributing factors. It helped introduce highly specialized interventions and prevention measures based on numerical information. Informatics also disseminated the new policy among the hospital staff so that everyone knew about the latest developments and how they would enforce the new procedures (Cameron, 2021). Indeed, this application of informatics captures the essence of technology in formulating and applying policies, which forms a core requirement of modern nursing practice.
Advocacy and Policy Presentation
Presenting and submitting the policy to the administration entailed letting the administration know that the policy is needed and works. Risk: I focused on the dangers of the existing policy loopholes and showed how the new policy would minimize such risks. Also, the policy should be posted on conspicuous notice boards in the form of brief overviews of the policy in focal areas of the hospital to ensure that patients, visitors, and personnel are informed. My evidence-based synthesis appreciated this advocacy, where I highlighted the importance of being assertive in handling aggressive behavior. In this phase of the project, the focus is on the advocacy of the nurse, who should advocate for policies that safeguard and improve patient care.
Preparation for Future Trends
Looking into the future is always a sensible and safe practice for a nursing administrator, especially regarding technological developments and new trends in the healthcare industry. For the next 10 years, innovations like artificial intelligence (AI), telemedicine, and high-end data analytics will experience further innovation. These technologies will, in turn, help further the delivery of more patient-focused care and the general outcomes of the healthcare system.
Thus, it is possible to underline the need to practice continuous professional development for these changes. Some of these are taking a training program in the area, collaborating with practitioners from other disciplines, and keeping abreast with the latest innovations in the medical field. For instance, knowledge of how AI can be integrated into the predictive analysis of patient conduct can aid in creating better methods of addressing patient misbehavior.
Importance of Preparation
This is important because it helps the nursing administrators prevent or prepare to handle the changes well in advance (McCullagh et al., 2021). This way, when something comes up, we can act effectively by putting policies and practices in place that will not only solve the problem at hand but also take advantage of the situation to enhance healthcare delivery. This proactive approach helps to guarantee that healthcare organizations will stay solid and capable of delivering the highest standard of care even in the face of new and challenging conditions.
Conclusion
Therefore, my practicum project has helped me gain the necessary tools to deal with healthcare policy and advocacy. By creating and adopting a detailed behavioral policy, the discussed candidate possesses the potential to handle significant problems and enhance the quality of patients’ treatment. Overall, future changes will require further preparation and considerable focus on the tendencies that are likely to continue in the future to ensure the constant provision of high-quality healthcare services. Hence, I am ready to lead and foster change in the ever-evolving healthcare field by embracing informatics, engaging in professional development, and advocating for policy changes.

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to propose the implementation of a comprehensive Aggressive/Hostile Behavioral Visitation Policy and Procedure Manual as part of my MSN Nursing capstone project. The primary objective of this policy is to enhance the quality of care and ensure a safe working environment for both patients and healthcare staff at Jackson Hospital.
After revising the visitation policy on the intranet, I noticed the absence of specified procedures for managing aggressive behavior. This prompted me to develop an expanded policy to address this critical issue comprehensively.
Additionally, during my review, I observed that the current visitation policy requires all visitors to show identification at registration/entrance and obtain a visitor pass. However, I have not seen consistent enforcement of this policy, nor have I observed visitors wearing the visitor pass badges or have been handed by the staff. This lapse in security measures poses a significant risk to the safety of patients, healthcare staff, newborns, and others within the facility.
In addition to implementing the policy, I would like to request permission to display a poster summarizing this policy in key areas of the hospital. This poster would be placed in the lobby, in each patient’s room, and in the hallways to inform patients, visitors, and families of the expectations and consequences regarding aggressive behavior. This proactive measure will help ensure that everyone entering our facility is aware of our zero-tolerance stance and the procedures in place to handle any incidents.
Implementing this policy and the accompanying poster will significantly improve the safety and quality of care provided at Jackson Hospital. It will also foster a more supportive and secure working environment for healthcare staff. I am confident that with your support, we can effectively address the challenges posed by aggressive behavior and enhance the overall healthcare experience for all stakeholders.
If there are any changes needed or key points you have questions about, please let me know. The attachments include the detailed policy paper and the poster. I would greatly appreciate your prompt response.
I look forward to discussing this proposal further and working together to implement this crucial policy. Thank you for considering this important initiative.

I encountered some initial difficulties in this project, particularly concerning the legal aspects of “firing” a patient from the hospital due to behavioral issues, which is prohibited by law. After reviewing Jackson Hospital’s visitation policy, I found it lacked specifics on handling zero-tolerance behavior. This discovery led to the development of my proposal for a comprehensive Aggressive/Hostile Behavioral Visitation Policy and Procedure Manual as part of my MSN Nursing capstone project.
BELOW attachments are the ones i used as a tools (including surveys) to create my project on aggressive behavioral visitation poster and policy and procedure to present to policy committee. -
