  • Title: Addressing the Increase in Mental Health Boarding in Emergency Departments: A Critical Appraisal of Nursing-Sensitive Quality Outcomes and Evidence-Based Recommendations

Problem: Over the last year there has been an significant increase in mental health boarding in the emergency departments.
Textbook reference: Patient-centered care has been defined by the institute of medicine(2001)as “providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preference, needs, and values, and ensuring that patients values guide all clinical decisions.” Patient centered care is an important feature if EBP(Evidence-based practice).
Textbook: Nursing Research, Generating and Assessing Evidence for Nursing Practice
    Denise F.Polit Cheryl TatanoBeck
Submit a 300 to 500-word paper describing a topic related to nursing-sensitive quality outcomes for critical appraisal.
As part of this work, you will include literature that you have critically appraised as an appropriate foundation for “best practice” recommendations. Include literature (at least one each) from 1. primary research and systematic reviews, 2. QSEN, and 3. EBP Guidelines. Five (5) references are required and must be recent, relevant to your topic, and clearly integrated into your paper. (Do not just cite a source without indicating why it is there.)
The paper should be submitted as a Word document. (no pdfs, scanned images, or google docs) using APA 7 format and include a title page and reference page. (No abstract is required for this assignment) The paper should be between 300 to 500 words with at least 5 scholarly references (from within the last five years), including the textbook. (Include textbook page numbers in citations) The paper should be well-organized with an introduction, conclusion, and other appropriate headings and subheadings (at least two levels).
What is the primary topic you are addressing? Phrase as a problem statement. Example: “There have been increased patient falls in the ABC unit over the past 6 months”
What is your analysis of the evidence on this topic? What does the evidence say about best nursing practices related to this problem? (Include literature (at least one each) from 1. primary research and systematic reviews, 2. QSEN, and 3. EBP Guidelines.
What are your recommendations for an intervention based on your own experience and from your analysis of the research? Formulate this into a rough draft PICOT question by answering the following questions:
What is the population most impacted?
What appears to be the most recommended intervention (based on your literature search) for this problem for this population? (Be sure to support your recommendation with the sources from your analysis above).
What is the impact (outcome) you anticipate because of this intervention? (This is also your hypothesis)
Explain the quantitative design method that you anticipate might be best used for an EBP or Nursing Research proposal on this topic.

  • “Ethical and Policy Considerations in Care Coordination: Implications for Community Organizations and Support Groups” “Maximizing Audience Engagement: Tips for Captivating Presentations”

Select a community organization or group that you feel would be interested in learning about ethical and policy issues that affect the coordination of care. Then, develop and record a 8-10-slide, 20-minute presentation, with audio, intended for that audience. Create a detailed narrative script or speakers notes for your presentation, 4-5 pages in length.
    For this assessment:
Use the Assessment 02 Supplement: Ethical and Policy Factors in Care Coordination [PDF] Download Assessment 02 Supplement: Ethical and Policy Factors in Care Coordination [PDF]to select the community organization or support group that you plan to address.
Develop a PowerPoint with typed speaker notes (the script for your voice recording) and audio voice-over recording, intended for that audience. Video is not required.
Note: PowerPoint has a feature to type the speaker notes directly into the presentation. You are encouraged to use that feature or you may choose to submit a separate document. See Microsoft Office Software for technical support about the use of PowerPoint, including voice recording and speaker notes.
For this assessment, develop your presentation slides and speaker notes, then record your presentation. You are not required to deliver your presentation to an actual audience.
    Presentation Format and Length
You may use PowerPoint (recommended) or other suitable presentation software to create your slides and add your voice over. If you elect to use an application other than PowerPoint, check with your faculty to avoid potential file compatibility issues.
Be sure that your slide deck includes the following slides:
    Title slide.
    Presentation title.
    Your name.
    Date.
    Course number and title.
References (at the end of your presentation).
Your slide deck should consist of 8-10 slides, not including a title and references slide with typed speaker notes and audio voice over. Your presentation should not exceed 20 minutes.
    Supporting Evidence
Cite 3–5 credible sources from peer-reviewed journals or professional industry publications to support your presentation. Include your source citations on a references page appended to your narrative script.

  • Title: Statistical Measures for Skill Development in Research Design and Data Analysis

For this week’s discussion students will reflect on the usage and significance of statistical measures for skill development in determining the appropriate statistical measure based on the research design. The goal in data analysis is to achieve accuracy and consistency through a systematic process to ensure the information gained in the analysis was adequate and bias-free.
Explain why a researcher would do a one-tail t-test compared to a two-tail t-test and the significance of a p value being utilized to determine the outcome.
Describe why a Pearson’s r would be performed and how it would be reported. Compare and contrast the Pearson’s r and Confidence Interval (CI). Discuss how both may be used in a research study.
Compare measurement errors which may influence quantitative data quality. Discuss the difference between Type I and Type II errors and actions which could be taken to avoid each type of error.
Describe how you plan to analyze data for your proposed evidence-based practice (EBP) research project. Include a discussion related to your ethical and spiritual responsibility in analyzing and reporting data. Identify one biblical principle that would apply to this situation.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO IDENTIFY PICOT IN DISCUSSION POST FEEDBACK.
