  • “Securing Stakeholder Support for Successful Project Implementation in Healthcare Settings” “Stakeholder Engagement in a Change Proposal for Preventing Surgical Site Infections and Falls in Healthcare Settings” “Utilizing Information and Communication Technologies to Enhance Implementation and Outcomes of a Fall Prevention Program” “Overcoming Barriers to Technology Adoption in Healthcare: Strategies for Successful Integration and Improved Patient Outcomes”

Your response posts should be a minimum of 100 words  and include one reference. You do not have to answer the question.
    Topic 5 DQ 1
    This is the question
Stakeholder support is necessary for a successful project implementation. Consider your internal stakeholders, such as the facility, unit, or health care setting where the change proposal is being considered, and your external stakeholders, like an individual or group outside the health care setting. Based on your assessment, identify two internal and two external stakeholders. Why is their support necessary to the success of your change proposal? Identify one unique strength (as a person/nurse) that would help you secure support from stakeholders in order to develop effective interprofessional relationships.
    These are the posts
    1. Without understanding the stakeholders viewpoint for implementing a new project it can be difficult for the project to be implemented. In order to help the implementation process, the stakeholders must be aware of the potential change. The first step in garnering stakeholder support is to analyze the good and negative consequences of your concept on the project (Borgianini, n.d.). Stakeholders do not always have to be present at the organization. There are two types of stakeholders some of which being internal and the others are external. Internal stakeholders that would benefit from the implementation of my EBP project would be the nursing staff on the unit and the health care setting as a whole because with thorough Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) education it will lower the readmission rates for patients that have been diagnosed with CHF. This project would also benefit the nursing staff because the patients that are admitted to the hospital with CHF exacerbation are admitted to the unit and this would likely lower the patient load as well as the nurses will have a different type of patient load. External stakeholders include patients, insurance firms, pharmaceutical companies, and medical equipment manufacturers (Nowak, 2021).  2 main external stakeholders that would be supportive of this change would be the patients and the insurance companies of the patients who have CHF. The support from these stakeholders is necessary because without this change practice proposal all of the stakeholders would be individually affected in different ways. One unique strength that I would say that I have and it would benefit the EBP project because I would gain their support is being easy to approach for questions, concerns or willing to help anyone. This trait shows that I am willing to help everyone that I can as well as show that change is necessary in order to better the care practice.
    -Faith
    2. The contributions by stakeholder partners have resulted in impacts to studies’ acceptability, feasibility, rigor, and relevance in evidence based practice projects. Evidence-based surgical bundles can be difficult to implement and sustain due to complex bundles, patient and process variation, poor compliance, workflow and communication obstacles, and other barriers (Dukes et al, 2024). The internal stakeholders are the nurses, PCTs, Managers, surgeons and the external stakeholders are the patients and financial institutions. To implement 2 CHG showers, proper education should be provided to all the health care professionals and the cooperation between them is essential. Policy should be changed accordingly and electronic record should include the CHG shower documentation. The manager and the supply management should make sure the availability of the CHG product with the approval of product committee. The leader of the surgical unit is to lead implementation by disseminating the project effectively among the team.
Nurses and PCTs are the most essential internal stakeholders who implement or execute the project by providing CHG showers, making sure to comply with the policy and documenting in the electronic records. This implementation is cost effective, but with proven result in preventing Surgical Site Infections. Nurses communicate directly with the patient and family regards to the importance of CHG showers before surgery. The leaders in the unit facilitate and keep the nurses accountable by quality check and maintain sustainability (Maurer et al, 2022).
    -Nigel
    3. “Stakeholder engagement is increasingly common in health research, with protocols for engaging multiple stakeholder groups becoming normative in patient-centered outcomes research” (Concannon, Grant, et al., 2019). Internal stakeholders for my change proposal would include the nursing staff, unit managers, and hospital administration. The nursing and unit management staff’s support is crucial because they are directly involved in implementing the proposed changes, while the administration’s support is necessary for allocating resources and implementing policy changes. “More detailed descriptions of how stakeholders influence the research process, the specific ways in which that influence affects the planning and conduct of a study, and the contributing factors and approaches to engagement that determine the nature of influence that stakeholders might have would strengthen this knowledge base” (Maurer, Mangrum, et al., 2022).  External stakeholders could include community organizations and regulatory agencies. Community organizations are important for providing support and resources to complement the proposed changes, while regulatory agencies play a key role in ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. As a nurse, my unique strength lies in my ability to empathize and communicate effectively with others. This allows me to build trust and rapport with stakeholders, fostering positive and productive relationships. Additionally, my firsthand experience in patient care gives me insight that can help stakeholders understand the practical implications of the proposed changes.
    -Aislinn
    4. Stakeholder support is critical for the successful implementation of a fall prevention program. For this proposal, two internal stakeholders would include nursing staff and hospital management. Nursing staff are directly involved in patient care and are essential for executing the fall prevention strategies. Their support ensures that the program’s protocols are followed consistently, enhancing patient safety. Hospital management’s support is necessary for allocating resources, such as funding for training and equipment, and for endorsing policy changes required for the program (Donnelly et al., 2020).
Two external stakeholders are patient advocacy groups and community health organizations. Patient advocacy groups play a crucial role in voicing the concerns and needs of patients, helping to ensure the program aligns with patient expectations and improves patient outcomes. Their support can enhance the program’s credibility and acceptance among patients. Community health organizations can provide additional resources and support, such as educational materials and expertise in community outreach, which are vital for raising awareness about the program and engaging the broader community (Turner et al., 2021).
The support of these stakeholders is necessary for several reasons. Nursing staff and hospital management ensure that the program is integrated into the hospital’s daily operations and that staff are adequately trained and motivated to implement the program. Patient advocacy groups and community health organizations help to ensure that the program is patient-centered and that it reaches a wider audience, thereby increasing its effectiveness and sustainability.
A unique strength that would help secure support from stakeholders is my ability to communicate effectively and empathetically. As a nurse, I understand the concerns and challenges faced by both healthcare providers and patients. This empathy allows me to build trust and rapport with stakeholders, facilitating open and constructive dialogue. By demonstrating a genuine commitment to improving patient safety and outcomes, I can foster strong interprofessional relationships and secure the necessary support for the fall prevention program (Donnelly et al., 2020; Turner et al., 2021).

    Topic 5 DQ 2
    This is the question
Technology is integral to successful implementation in many projects, through either support or integration or both. Name two information/communication technologies that could improve the implementation process and the outcomes of your capstone project. How would this technology be appropriately applied during the implementation phase of your project? Describe one potential barrier that could prevent the use of this technology.
    These are the posts
    5.    An information technology that would improve the implementation process is the use of message pop ups in Epic (the electronic health record used at my practicum site). When the preop nurse goes into the patient’s chart under the “preop checklist”, a message could pop up on the screen asking if they have applied active warming measures before surgery. This would serve as a reminder for the nurse. A barrier to this may be the time it takes to make a change like that happen in Epic. Epic can be customized to a healthcare organizations specific practices and procedures, leading to multiple benefits (Cap Minds, 2023). In Epic, patients must be scanned before scanning a medication. What if the active warming method barcode needed to be scanned. This would ensure that the active warming method is being used during periop. This is something that could be used at my practicum site but would need to get organizational leadership behind it and may take some time to get updated in Epic.
A communication technology that would improve this project’s implementation is email and written material. Email is a way to reach all people who will be affected by the practice change. It allows the information to be communicated to all involved, gives the recipients time to read the content and understand it, and they can reference the email if they have any questions (Ariel Group, 2024). Written material can also be provided so that people who do not regularly check their email will be informed of the change. Having two communication methods will reach more people and provide them with the information twice.
    -Morgan
    6. Two information and communication technologies that could significantly improve the implementation and outcomes of a fall prevention program are Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and mobile health (mHealth) applications.
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) can be crucial for tracking patient data and identifying those at higher risk of falls. EHRs can be used to integrate fall risk assessments into routine patient evaluations, ensuring that every patient’s risk level is documented and easily accessible to all healthcare providers. Alerts can be set up within the EHR system to notify staff when a patient is identified as high risk, prompting immediate preventive actions. This integration allows for continuous monitoring and updating of patient information, facilitating timely interventions and reducing the incidence of falls (Kruse et al., 2020).
Mobile health (mHealth) applications can be employed to engage both healthcare providers and patients in the fall prevention program. For healthcare providers, mHealth apps can offer training modules, updates on best practices, and a platform for reporting and sharing information about fall incidents in real-time. For patients and their families, these apps can provide educational resources, reminders about safety protocols, and tools for reporting concerns or incidents directly to healthcare providers. This level of engagement ensures that both providers and patients are actively participating in fall prevention measures (Jimenez et al., 2021).
One potential barrier to the use of these technologies is the resistance to change among healthcare staff. Some staff members may be reluctant to adopt new technologies due to a lack of familiarity or perceived additional workload. Overcoming this barrier requires comprehensive training and demonstrating the benefits of these technologies in improving patient safety and outcomes. Providing ongoing support and addressing concerns promptly can help in mitigating resistance and ensuring smooth integration of these technologies (Kruse et al., 2020).

  • Title: “The Impact of Nursing Theory on Ethical Decision Making in Global Nursing Practice”

As nurses gain experience and learn more about the science of nursing and nursing theory, the expected outcome is that nurses will have a deeper understanding of the discipline of nursing that will inform their decision making.
Nursing ethics are driven by the values that nurses hold as a collective, but the context of the situation will dictate how those ethics are applied.
In this Discussion Board, look back upon this course. Do you see nursing theory applicable to all planetary applications addressing nursing practice?
