Assignment Overview
In this assignment the student will be exploring and describing the John Hopkins model along with identifying how the model will guide, inform, and support the evidence-based practice quality improvement project. Describe area of interest and focus of the evidence-based practice quality improvement project
Describe the Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence Based Practice Model
Describe each component of the model
Restate the clinical/practice question developed in NR520 (Note clinical/practice question might need to be revised)
Identify how the model will guide, inform, and support the evidence-based practice quality improvement project.

Sources older than five years may not be used without the permission of the class professor.
Title page, pagination, subheadings, body of paper, citation of sources, and reference page must follow APA guidelines as found in the most current edition of the manual.
Rules of grammar, spelling, word usage, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure are followed and consistent with formal, scholarly writing as noted in the most current edition of the APA Manual.

Your participation in the discussion forum, including the following:
A response to the initial questions in the discussion descriiption. Your initial post should be 200-250 words in length, and include references and citations.
Responses to at least two other students’ posts. Each response should be a minimum of 100 words in length.
A statement of agreement or disagreement is insufficient for the purposes of scholarly discussion. You must include references and citations in your responses to other student discussions. Your responses must be courteous, and should include specific scholarly information about the topic.
The level of evidence you use to support your statements in the initial and subsequent posts is important and must be evident in each part of the discussion. Your textbook and any article you are asked to locate/read should always be used as evidence. The next level of evidence would be peer reviewed articles, and after that, well known web sites for example: CDC or the AHA. The use of blogs or obscure or non-healthcare related web sites is/are unacceptable in this course and program. Never utilize Wikipedia for scholarly work. Step 1 Choose a current policy or pending legislation to review.
Visit the ANA website or the website for your state board of nursing, and investigate what policies are being addressed and the position the organization has on the policy.
Step 2 Post your response to the discussion board.
Respond to the following question and, if relevant, include your own personal experience:
In your own words, describe the policy you chose and how it impacts your nursing practice.
Explain whether you agree or disagree with the policy and the organization’s position on it.

Annotated Bibliography
The annotated bibliography will assist in advancing your quality improvement project by facilitating critical understanding of the relevant literature. Students will be required to submit an annotated bibliography assignment due at the end of week 2. Each submission should provide annotations for 4 references. 
The annotated bibliography will be a review of the relevant literature pertaining to the proposed problem/project. Carefully select the articles you review to inform and/or support the need for your project, for example:
Does the literature provide supporting documentation of the existence of the problem you have identified? Your project should not be based solely on your own subjective perceptions, intuition, or opinion.
Does the literature support the methodology or “solution” you have selected to address the problem? It can be helpful to have a template/model to follow.
Does the literature point to major gaps that your project can fill? Maybe no one else has done what you propose to do. That’s great! Your study will definitely “add to our (collective) fund of knowledge.”
Are there published reports by others who have already done what you propose to do? If so, critique this literature, and discuss how your project can improve / expand / build on it.
The document must include a minimum 250 word one-paragraph introduction on your topic on page 1 before you begin filling in the annotations. This introduction will be developed with your first submission and then will be used again for your final paper.
Annotated references should include the following four key components:
Introduction – clearly defining a quality improvement initiative related to the nursing profession.
Full and accurate APA citation of reference.
Brief summary and assessment of the reference (type of research, major findings, quality and rigor of the reference, etc.)
Brief reflection of how the reference relates to other references included in the bibliography (How does this reference challenge, or agree with other references cited)

An important concern about APRN certification and licensure is the inconsistency in state rules and the absence of complete practice authority (FPA) for APRNs throughout the United States. Full Practice Authority refers to the unrestricted authority of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to independently practice according to their level of education and training, without requiring supervision or assistance from physicians. This problem impedes Advanced Practice Registered Nurses’ capacity to fulfill the increasing need for primary care services, especially in impoverished regions, and limits patients’ ability to obtain prompt and effective healthcare. Obstacles and difficulties that have impeded the advancement of APRN practice encompass resistance from medical associations, apprehensions about patient safety and care quality, and the impact of antiquated regulatory structures. Physician groups frequently contend that Advanced Practice Registered Nurses possess insufficient training and skill compared to physicians, resulting in opposition to providing them complete independence in their practice. Nevertheless, studies have demonstrated that Advanced Practice Registered Nurses deliver secure and efficient healthcare that is on par with physicians, particularly in primary care environments. To overcome these obstacles, it is required to make legislative and regulatory amendments to update the licensure of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and eliminate unjustified limitations on their professional responsibilities. The APRN Compact is a legislative policy that currently affects APRN practice. The APRN Compact is a reciprocal recognition framework that enables APRNs to work in many states without the requirement of acquiring extra licenses in each state. The objective is to enhance the availability of healthcare services by enabling the movement of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses while upholding regulatory supervision and ensuring patient safety requirements. According to my latest information, a number of states have proposed or implemented laws to become part of the APRN Compact, indicating an increasing acknowledgement of the necessity to simplify the licensing procedures for APRNs. Ortiz et al. (2018) propose that enhancing the independence of nurse practitioners can enhance patient outcomes. Competent and accomplished Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners have the ability to improve the availability and usage of primary healthcare services in rural regions. Increasing the level of independence for nurse practitioners could have positive effects in communities with limited access to healthcare.

Summary Guidelines: 1 page The summary should be written with enough detail so that a reader would not have to look at the original research to understand all the main points. A well-written summary should cover three main points: why the research was done, what happened in the experiment, and what conclusions the author drew.
Why was the research done?
The first section of your summary should include all the important background information and
context. It should also include the author’s purpose for doing the research and the goal or
hypothesis. You should typically be able to pull all this information from the introduction.
What happened in the experiment?
Next, cover what happened in the methods and results sections of the paper. This is important for
letting the reader know what happened in the experiment. Do not mix the author’s analysis with
this section: simply state the facts first. This will keep your summary organized. Also, try not to
include too many specific numbers or details. Only offer what is necessary or helpful in
explaining what happened.
What conclusions did the author draw?
Lastly, write about the author’s analysis and everything they concluded from the experiment. Go
over all the main points that the author makes here, including their conclusion, limitations, and
future directions. Remember that the conclusion is not the same thing as the results. Results are
the outcomes of the experiment, and conclusions are what the author says the results mean.
