This assessment provides the opportunity to apply the use of high-level evidence in clinical
practice (knowledge translation). construct a research question in relation to an area of practice and conduct a search to identify
evidence to answer the question and make recommendations for practice. You will also discuss
the barriers to evidence-informed practice that may exist in your clinical setting, and strategies to address these barriers.
Assignment structure
• Introduction – provides a road map for the paper (what are you
going to discuss in 1-2 sentences)
• Paragraph 1
• Explain the reason why you have chosen this question (criterion 1)
• Main body of paper – address the remaining criteria in the
rubric. Note the criteria with the highest marks allocated –
this should get more focus in your paper
• Brief 1-3 sentence conclusion summarising what you covered
in the paper
Criterion 1: Identifies and briefly describes a specific
aspect of practice. (10%)
• Why have you chosen this question?
• Suggest providing data or other reasons to support
this discussion (these need to be referenced)
Criterion 2: Develop a specific research question & conduct
the appropriate search for high level evidence.
• Content for weeks 8 – 11 relevant to this criterion
• Question needs to be clear and answerable
• Need to undertake a search & provide brief descriiption so the
marker understands how and where you searched & terms used
• Identify the three highest pieces of evidence, demonstrating
your knowledge of levels of evidence – attach the abstract/s or

A 70-year-old male patient presented to your clinic with complaint of a “ productive cough” x 2 weeks. Confirms fever, mild dyspnea on exertion, chills, tachycardia, and chest congestion. Describes cough as productive with clear to yellow sputum. Medical history includes  nicotine dependence for 30 years smoking 1 pack per day.  On inspection, patient appeared to be tachypneic with respiratory rate at 30,  HR at 104, febrile with temperature of 101,  02 saturations at 91% on RA with crackles heard in all lung fields. An important element of the delivery of nursing care is the professional practice model (PPM)within which it is framed. These models define the structures and processes within which care is given. It can delineate the degree of autonomy within which nurses can practice that leads to a higher quality of care. While these frameworks are informed by nursing, organizations must support implementing these models.
Regardless of the type of facility, the nursing practice should be framed within a specific nursing professional practice model. Most PPM have components that include the nursing vision/values, nursing practice standards, teamwork, recognition and advancement, evidence-based practice/research, nursing care delivery model, shared decision-making, and some type of reflective practice.

The student will conduct a functional assessment interview on an older adult. The student will identify the category as on the following age brackets: young elderly (65–74 years old), middle elderly (75–84 years old), and frail elderly (85 years old and older).
