Literacy Narrative
For this essay, I want you to use any text of interest to
you. How did this text impact you? How did it challenge your assumptions? How
has the encounter with this text changed your cognition or way you see the
world? Do you think this text has shaped you into a more cognizant individual? Think
critically and offer strong insights. Your essay must be a
minimum of 800 words. Your
voice should be in the first person. I will allow the use of contractions
within this paper. Quotations from the text are encouraged but not required.
Audience
Imagine your audience is college-educated. This audience
expects to see evidence in support of claims as well as engaging, clear,
careful writing. It values precision and specific points rather than broad
generalizations.
Grammar and Style Requirements
-Your paper should have no sentence errors (fragments,
run-ons).
-Your language should be engaging, precise, and concise
throughout.
-Your paper should use appropriate and precise signal verbs
as you introduce quotations.
Format and Citation Requirements
-Your paper format should follow exactly the model of the
“Sample Paper in MLA Format” file posted in Blackboard.
– All documentation and in-text citations should use MLA
Format. You only need to cite the texts you are discussing.
– Your Works Cited page, the last numbered page of the
paper, should be correctly formatted in MLA style and should provide a correct
entry for the article being used.
– Your paper may include quotations from the source you
are using, and the quotations should be punctuated correctly and accompanied by
a correct in-text citation.
