  • “Promoting Gender Equality through Corporate Social Responsibility: A Critical Analysis and Evaluation”

These are my professors notes on the thesis: I finished reading your draft and enjoyed it.
I think you write well. Below some feedback and questions that the second assessor can ask or raise:
references are missing or not frequently done. In some sections the text looks like an long essay without references. This might raise red flag as some readers might think that AI has been used in the thesis is sometimes. Make it more academic with many more academic and updated references. Do not separate sections.. Thesis should flow as one big text, not 3 different essays. Link each section to the previous and the next one. Ideas should flow organically, naturally and logically.
Having said that the CSR sections are a bit out of place. Even artificial. I don’t see any criticism or reflection. I don’t see much analysis. Try to develop a stronger argument: Why is CSR a useful principle for gender equality? Or vice versa? Right now the main argument is lost in many nice but generic paragraphs that everyone can find if they Google it. Finally, the CSR should be linked to gender mainstreaming or equality better. Aren’t our current/existing other legislation not enough for issues related to gender (such as company law, social and economic rights, other texts that are about gender rights)? To put it in other words: Why do we need your thesis? What’s its added value? You should convince the reader better that this thesis is important, useful and relevant. Moreover this issue requires a critical analysis. Try to analyse it critically. Right now it is mostly informing the reader. Not analysing it. Method section is not developed well. Try to improve it. What’s your method here? Case law, and academic literature analysis? Why not using report, interviews or media for instance? How will you choose your literature?
Please use references that are more recent, reference Oscola style as well
Some of the sentences/paragraphs do not make sense. Rewrite these.

  • “GameStop: A Case Study on Risk Management and the Power of Social Media in the Financial Markets”

The focus of the Case Study is the student’s analysis.
Do not limit your research to catastrophes,
disasters, and other risk management failures. Consider writing a case study on a strategy that
successfully mitigated risk. Argue for change, make a
compelling argument for government regulation, make a compelling argument for deregulation,or persuade industry leaders to adopt different methods
My abstract: Taking a closer look
at the early 2021 GameStop incident serves as a good case study to examine risk
occurrences as well as responses in the financial markets. In addition to being
able to peer behind the scenes into what went wrong and what should have been
anticipated, it allows us to learn from this experience. This article explores
the GameStop narrative, with a focus on the risk event that was created by a
concerted effort on social media platforms by retail investors, leading to a
significant rise in the stock price of the struggling video game retailer. The
reactions that followed from a wide range of stakeholders including regulators,
brokerage houses, and hedge funds showcase both the effectiveness and failure
of current risk management practices. According to this study, although the
catastrophe revealed shortcomings in conventional risk management methods, it
also showed the value of community involvement and the need for flexible risk
management strategies in today’s dynamic financial environments.

  • Title: Designing a More Perfect Union: Organizing and Prioritizing in a New Constitution

Question 1 (150 points). How would you want to organize the government to form a more
perfect union? Should it be parliamentary, unitary, republican, include separation of powers,
how many branches, and so forth? As you describe the organization/structure of your
anticipated government, and reflecting upon what you have learned throughout this course,
please explain the reasons behind your thinking (including, where appropriate, pointing to:
class discussions, readings, historical events that displayed weakness or strengths of particular
government structures, experiences during our time in London, and current events).
Question 2 (150 points). What 3-4 matters should be specifically addressed in a new
constitution? Of course, there will likely be more than 4 matters contained in a new
Constitution, but what are your top 3-4 priorities? For each, please explain why it is a top
priority. For each of your priorities, please include a draft section to be included in the
Constitution (note: these draft sections are included within the 1000 word minimum response
for this question), along with an explanation of how each section addresses a particular priority.
An example of a section from the current US Constitution is:
    15th Amendment, Section 1
The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged
by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous
    condition of servitude.

  • Title: The Controversial Sentence: A Case Study in Criminal Justice Ethics

Research and summarize a real criminal case that culminated in a controversial sentence. Provide a link to information on the case that you chose. Analyze the appropriateness of the sentence using one of the ethical principles (virtue ethics, formalism, or utilitarianism). Which of the four purposes of criminal sanctions (retribution, incapacitation, deterrence, or rehabilitation) did the judge appear to be trying to accomplish? Critically examine the postings of your peers and provide at least two (2) substantive replies. Critically examine the postings of your peers and suggest how the sentence might have been different if an alternative ethical principle were used to determine the sentence. How might the sentence have been different if an alternative criminal sanction goal was the focus?

  • “Addressing Police-Community Relations: A Memo on Solutions for a Hypothetical Police Department” “The Evolution of Compstat: A Critical Analysis of Its Impact on Policing Strategies and Practices”

You are required to write a professional-style memo (400-600 words) on a problem facing a hypothetical police department, and your proposed solutions. You may take the perspective of any stakeholder (a concerned individual, an organizational representative, or a member of a particular interest group) and can address your memo to any party who may influence, or be influenced by, police activity. You can ground this memo in any historical period (including, but not limited to, the Prohibition period, the Civil Rights era, the 1990s crime drop, etc.) .
If writing from a perspective other than a contemporary one, please draw from the material presented in weeks 2 and 3, and/or related sources.
If writing from a contemporary perspective, please be sure to ground your hypothetical problem in at least one of the theoretical frameworks presented in weeks 4 and 5)
A professional memo is meant to communicate information succinctly, often with the goal of achieving a specific desired outcome. It’s important for this message to be targeted to your intended audience, and for the sender’s perspective and voice to be made clear. The problem you describe may be experienced at the individual level (e.g., “I was subjected to excessive force in a police stop.”) or an institutional level (e.g., “Our police department is facing an officer shortage.”) but the suggested solutions should be appropriate to the nature of the problem.

  • Title: “Navigating the Intersection of Media Law and Ethics: Exploring Solutions for Contemporary Issues”

The purpose of this essay is to explore a contemporary issue related to Media Law and Ethics and analyze it for potential solutions. You have broad latitude here, so you should choose a topic with which you are interested.
You need to pitch your topic to me in writing. You’ll submit a one-page proposal on Canvas. This is similar to an abstract for research papers. Briefly describe the contemporary topic you want to explore, why it’s an important issue related to Media Law and Ethics and list a few potential sources of information. I encourage you to visit with me during Zoom Office Hours (or schedule an appointment) or during an optional grad chat to discuss potential topics. There’s no specific deadline for this, but I suggest getting approval from me in the next few weeks (no later than early April) to give yourself amble time to research and write your Final Essay. Getting started early allows for adjustments if necessary.
As a piece of academic writing, this essay should conform to research papers you’ve done in other classes. Since some of you come from different academic backgrounds, I’m not a stickler for any particular format, so use the one you want or are comfortable with. As long as you write in complete sentences, cite your work with footnotes or endnotes and have a bibliography, then that works for me.
III. Analysis of the topic – Using what you’ve learned this class about free speech and free press principles, analyze the topic to explore how precedents and legal interpretation can or should help resolve the topic. If it’s a novel topic, then you might explore how past decisions could be interpreted to apply to your topic. In this section, you can offer a solution or potential resolution. However, keep in mind that this is an objective piece of writing, so don’t use personal pronouns (such as I or we). You may try to be persuasive here, but it should be based on your research and experts, not your personal opinion.
IV. Conclusion – A brief summary of the topic, the importance of the issue and your proposed solution.
Also, you’ll include a bibliography. You should aim to have at least seven (7) to 10 sources such as book sources (including “Mass Media Law”), individual cases, news sources and organizational statements).
Use a standard 12-point font and double space your essay. Proofread your essay for grammar, spelling and punctuation.
