  • Title: “Exploring the Advantages and Drawbacks of Restricting SAAF Grants to Stabilistan-based NGOs and Assessing the Rights- and Needs-Based Approach in Fragiliwest Context”

Stabilistan is one of the largest ODA funders in the world. It channels its funding through StabilAid. StabilAid funds multilateral operations as well as work done by Stabilistani NGOs. Many Stabilistani NGOs are global leaders in their respective fields. One of StabilAid’s flagship funding mechanisms is the Small Agency Action Fund (SAAF). In January 2018, StabilAid issued Guidelines for Applicants, for a new round of grants to NGOs.
Fragilisave (a diaspora organisation in Stabilistan) and DEF (an organisation in Fragiliwest) have jointly prepared a Concept Note. If this Concept Note gets accepted, Fragilisave and DEF will have to produce a more detailed proposal.
Please read the Guidelines for Applicants and the Concept Note, and answer the following questions.
Section 6.1 of the Guidelines for Applicants and Section 1.2 of the Concept Note template stipulate that only Stabilistan-based NGOs are eligible for SAAF grants. Please describe, in no more than 500 words, the advantages and drawbacks of such a restriction. [For context: Stabilistan is a rich donor country, much like the UK.]
Is this concept note based on a rights-based or a needs-based approach? In not more than 500 words, please explain your answer, and assess whether or not this is an appropriate approach to take in the particular context of Fragiliwest. If you are not yet familiar with the rights- and the needs-based approaches, this will require some background reading.
Please strengthen this Concept Note, using Track Changes. You can insert questions, comments, suggestions and additional useful information, if available. Ideally, you go beyond a bit of text editing, and point out inconsistencies and weaknesses, and perhaps fill a few gaps. Do not exceed the length of the Concept Note by more than 1000 words.

Your articles should have enough substance to sustain the analysis, so stay away from short blurbs.

  • “Japan’s Strategic Role in the South China Sea Dispute: Upholding Stability and International Law in East Asia”

Japan’s strategic role in the South China Sea dispute is a critical component of the complex power struggle and geopolitical dynamics in the region. As a major economic and military power in East Asia, Japan has a vested interest in maintaining stability and security in the South China Sea, which is a crucial waterway for global trade and commerce.
Japan has been a vocal critic of China’s expansive territorial claims in the South China Sea, particularly its construction of artificial islands and military facilities in disputed areas. Japan has also ramped up its own military presence in the region, conducting joint exercises with United States allies and supporting freedom of navigation operations to challenge China’s excessive maritime claims.
In addition to its military stance, Japan has also been actively involved in diplomatic efforts to resolve the South China Sea dispute through multilateral forums such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United Nations. Japan has emphasized the importance of upholding international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in addressing territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
Overall, Japan’s strategic role in the South China Sea dispute reflects its commitment to upholding a rules-based international order and promoting peace and stability in the region. By navigating the complex power struggle and geopolitical dynamics in the South China Sea, Japan plays a crucial role in shaping the future of East Asia’s maritime security landscape.

  • “The Impact of the Rise of Far-Right Parties in the EU Elections on Minorities and Migrants’ Human Rights: A Case Study of Palestine and Sub-Saharan Africa”

I was thinking something about the rise of far right in the recent EU elections and how doesit affect minorities or pose threat to migrants human rights from countries in crisis like Palestine or sub saharan africa. i need primary sources, a lit review and a methodology sectionaswell.

  • “The Threat of Far-Right Rise in the EU and its Impact on Environmental Standards and Human Rights: A Case Study of the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice”

    my topic suggestions:
    1. How the rise of far right in the EU latest elections poses a threat on safeguarding:
    a) environmental standards with EU as the world leader advocate of evironmental preserv.
or b) minorities and migrants human rights living in the EU or future immingrant from countries in need like Palistine or sub saharan Africa
2.Combating Extremism: The Role of the EU’s Digital Services Act in Regulating Anti-Muslim Rhetoric and Christian Fascist Propaganda on Social Media
I am leaning more towards 1.a or 1.b but i’m open to discussion. I need primary research with at least 15 academic sources. Our professor urged us to use cases from the ECTHR or theECj if possible -ckeck websites like hudoc. I have a 3,1 gpa so write in a rather casual way and dont use things like regression models to avoid raising concerns. I would also need somekind of a draft within 10 days

  • Title: Understanding the Use of Force, Self Defense, and Proportionality in International Conflict Law: A Case Study of Cabal and Anarchy’s Conflict

    1. When is use of force permitted and prohibited?  What is self defense and how is it applied in international conflict law?  What is proportionality and why is it important in the international arena?
Use at least one source from the attached readings.
    2. Cabal has now joined the United Nations as a full member state and Anarchy refuses to recognize its status.  If the State of Anarchy launched a military attack on Cabal, what is Cabal’s right of self defense?  If the State of Boring was interested in joining sides in the war, would it be justified?  Would it depend on the side it joined? Would it need approval from the United Nations?  Try to justify your position based upon your status as an ambassador in line with the country which you represent.
(find simulation explanation in the attachements)

  • Title: Preventing Cabal’s Nuclear Weapons Program and Testing: The Role of Boring and the United Nations

    Instructions
The war between Anarchy and Cabal has now ended.  While neither side won, both have agreed to peaceful relations.  The State of Boring decided to stay out of the military fighting, but had sent resources (food, medical supplies, ammunition, etc.) to Cabal in support of its defense.
During the rebuilding of Cabal, the government decided that, in order to maintain the peace and prevent further attacks by its neighbors, it would build a nuclear arms program and begin stockpiling nuclear weapons.  While Cabal has no immediate intention to ever use the weapons against its neighboring countries, it does plan to begin testing them on surrounding islands without any residents, as well as in the ocean.  As a new member state to the United Nations, it is not a signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.  However, Anarchy and Boring have both signed the treaty.
    Please read the following articles:
    https://www.un.org/disarmament/wmd/nuclear/npt/
    https://www.ipinst.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/pdfs_koreachapt2.pdf
    https://www.armscontrol.org/act/2015-07/features/there-future-npt
If you are an ambassador for the State of Anarchy (A) or Boring (B), what if anything can your country do in order to prevent Cabal’s use of nuclear weapons?  Is there anything the United Nations can do to prevent Cabal’s use of nuclear weapons?  Are there any legal arguments that could be used to stop Cabal’s nuclear weapons program and testing?
You are state of Boring (B)! Find the explanation for the simulation in the attachement.
Use at least 2 sources from the above websites and/or attached reading.
