“History in the Making: A Creative and Collaborative Exploration of Primary Sources” Overview: In this assignment, students will work collaboratively to analyze and interpret primary sources related to a historical event or period. Through this process, students will develop critical thinking Minimum Standards: Evaluating Submissions
Your goal in this assignment is to create an innovative and creative assignment for a college-level History course. You need to clearly explain the overview, outcomes, instructions, skills used, and grading structure of the assignment. The final submission needs to be well-edited, correctly formatted, and proofread. You are scored on your creativity, clarity, professionalism, and scope. Although this is a separate assignment, your score replaces the GIP. Therefore, your grade will be recorded in the GIP grade column.
Submission Instructions
-Create an interesting and innovative assignment that would be suitable for a college-level History course.
-You will submit your paper through this assignment page on Canvas.
-All submissions must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf extensions.
-Submissions must be proofread and edited. Professional appearance and formatting counts!
-This assignment is due on the same date and time as the GIP.
Formatting and Necessary Fields
1. Your submission must contain, at the very least, these four fields: Overview, Instructions, Objectives/Educational Skills, and Grading Rubric
2. Fill out the corresponding fields with detailed information. Be descriptive. Give examples, if necessary.
3. Separate and format the fields to your liking. Make your submission look professional and polished.
Explanation of the Fields
-Please watch the following video for further clarification of the Overview, Instructions, Objective/Educational Skills, and Grading Rubric.
-Objectives are generally in two parts. The first part is just what will be done. For example, “The student will do _____.” The second part is the outcome. Here, it is more like, “By doing this the student is using ______ skills.” You can write this however you wish, but make sure to explain what part of the assignment uses which skills.
-Here is a large, but by no means comprehensive, list of Educational Skills. Your assignment should include quite a few of these:
******time management, critical thinking, group work, public speaking, written skills, verbal skills, planning, multitasking, collaboration, editing, organization, note taking, peer review, source evaluation, data analysis, research, studying, test taking, academic argument, presentation, reading comprehension, statistical analysis, teaching, tutoring, and goal planning*****
Grading Rubric
-Since this is an optional assignment with lenient grading, I am keeping the rubric fairly simple. When it comes to making your rubric for this assignment, though, you should carefully consider how you place the points. The GIP is worth 200 points (this replaces its score), so the scoring rubric will equal that amount. Please do not just copy this rubric. Think about it and create your own.
Your grade on this assignment comes from how well you complete these four directives: creativity, clarity, professionalism, and scope. Each has equal weight of 50 points.
Creativity: The uniqueness, originality, innovation, and/or stimulation your assignment.
Clarity: How well you explained the overview, instructions, objectives, and grading rubric of the assignment.
Professionalism: Proofreading, formatting, and overall editing of the assignment submission.
Scope: The detail, information, and general boundaries of the assignment. How well your assignment incorporates various Educational Skills.
These categories are subjectively scored. Each will receive points ranging from 0 – 50. Here is a breakdown of these points:
A: 45 – 50 points. An excellent submission in this category. Exceeds expectations. Great insight and ideas, very well written, engaging, thought-provoking, and/or original.
B: 40 – 44 points. A good submission in this category. You explained your points, the submission was well-written and largely free from errors, there was extra information, and innovative ideas.
C: 35 – 39 points. A satisfactory submission in this category. You completed the assignment to, at least, the minimum standards. Your submission was decently written, there may be a few grammatical and syntax errors, but, for the most part, it was proofread and professional. Satisfactory ideas and originality.
D: 30 – 34 points. A poor submission. You submitted the assignment but it had several issues and/or errors. This could include incomplete fields, irrelevant information, basic ideas, etc.
F: 0 – 29 points. You know why you received this. -
Title: “The Exclusion of Native Americans from Liberty and Rights in Early America: Resistance and Legacy”
United States History to 1877
Voices of Freedom
Give Me Liberty
1600 words
Pick an era in US History (Beginnings to 1877) and address this Big Picture Question: Who was
granted the liberty and rights, and who was excluded? Your paper will want to analyze the
following questions and prompts based on your selected Voices of Freedom document(s):
What specific rights and liberties are you going to address?
Who did not have access to these freedoms and why were they excluded? In other words,
what was the justification for their exclusion? [Note: I highly suggest focusing on one
group/demographic, rather than trying to address several groups.]
How did those that were excluded respond? Go beyond the exploitation, marginalization,
and oppression. Instead display their agency, detailing how they were active agents of
change.
Address their legacy: What accomplishments did they make (think short- and/or long-
term)? As Margaret Mead stated, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed
citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
It is important to understand that successful writing requires students to write a coherent essay, create an effective introduction, organize a “storyline,” and come to a conclusion. In addition, all assertions must be justified with evidence. Remember, everyone has a right to their own opinion, but must backup it up with real evidence, and real evidence requires citations.
Essays are to be 1,500-2,000 words and double-spaced. All papers must have a title, integrate specific cited evidence from your Voices of Freedom and Give Me Liberty books. You are not required to cite other sources. Students may use additional sources but must submit them with the Phase I deadline. Keep in mind, they must be credible and academic sources (that means no Wikipedia!). Do not be shy and seek the help of our wonderful research librarians. Finally, use the same citation format/standards as you did for Discussion Boards and Short Essays and include a works cited page at the end.
If you are having difficulty choosing a topic, ask yourself the following questions:
What era interests me? What era do I want to learn more about?
What topics interest me? What do I want to learn more about?
Politics and government? Women’s Rights? Civil Rights? Foreign Policy? Culture and
Society? War? Racial and ethnic minorities? Economics? -

“The Unrecognized Heroines of the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment: Exploring the Contributions and Challenges of Women in Shaping the History of Science and Ideas” Title: The Importance of Proper Citation and Referencing in Academic Writing
Note: The University Course is called “The Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment”
I have chosen my topic for this final paper and a short summary of the content:
The Role of Women in the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment
The paper will explore the contributions of women during the Scientific Revolution and Enlightenment
period. It will discuss the lives and work of notable female scientists, philosophers, and intellectuals such
as Émilie du Châtelet, Maria Sibylla Merian, Caroline Herschel. Secondly, the paper will aim to provide
insights on the role of women in advancing scientific knowledge and promoting Enlightenment ideals of
reason, equality, and education. This will be done through an analysis of their achievements, challenges
and impact on science. Lastly, it will explore the societal and institutional harriers faced by women in
scientifical and intellectual pursuits during this era, and their lasting impact on shaping the history of
science and ideas.
These are the instructions for the final paper from our syllabus:
Final Exam
Two comprehensive questions, one analytical question (analyze a primary source, students are allowed to use their
laptop for this final question AFTER submitting the first two comprehensive questions).
Final Research Paper
1,250-1,500 words* + Bibliography + 150 word-abstract. Self-chosen topic.
* Quality is more important quantity. If the paper is of high quality, also less words are acceptable. However, the
professor has read a few thousand papers in her lifetime and recognizes the differences between a good paper and
“I-just-want-to-be-done”-paper. The use of AI, ghost writer and the like is strictly forbidden will lead to the failure
of the class and a report.
Students will have to conduct research on the self-chosen topic. They have to provide a bibliographic list of
consisting of ten academic (!) publications, APA. They have to prove here that they understand how to research
literature, how differentiate between academic and non-academic literature, and how to quote literature according
to a specific style guide. They are allowed to use reference management systems (e.g. Zotero, Citavi). Furthermore,
they have to submit an abstract of 150 words.
AI Policy
The use of Artificial Intelligence is forbidden for writing the midterm and final paper. All writing must come from
yourself. The responsibility for the content lies with yourself. In case of doubt, the teacher reserves the right to ask
you to provide evidence (like showing the research folder with the stored research literature) that you are the sole
author of the paper. You are obliged to store used literature or a screenshot of it in a folder until the final grades are
entered.
You are allowed to use AI for inspirational purposes (like ideas on structure, research literature). You are obliged
to acknowledge when, where and how you used AI and specify the AI tool. Please note that AI often produces
inaccurate, superficial, biased, and even invented (“Hallucination”) content. It takes time and effort to create
something meaningful out of it. Again, you are responsible for the content you are submitting.
Violation of this policy leads to the failure of the class and report to the academic services.
Point Deduction
• Unexcused late submission of the paper (accepted excuses: illness, illness or decease of a family member,
act of nature beyond control) – -10% day after deadline, -50% third day after deadline, 0% fifth day after
deadline;
• No title – 5% Mid-Terms, 10% Paper;
• Not applying style guide or using wrong style guide – 5% Mid-Terms, 10% Paper;
• No Bibliography – 10% Paper;
• Citing Wikipedia or non-academic internet sources – 30%
• Not citing sources at all = Plagiarism = failure.
• AI, ghost writers etc = failure and report.
Lastly, these are some specifications mentioned by the teacher in an email:
FINAL PAPER:
– Deadline this Sunday, May 5.
– Structure: Title, name – Introduction – Main Body – Conclusion – Bibliography. Source references in footnotes.
I am not picky on words. If it is 100 words more or less, I do not care. I care about quality, not quantity.
All these instructions are also attached in files as screenshots. -

I need you to describe why 1950 was the worst year in history. After you go into detail about
that you need to say why years 1877, 1896, 1932, 1968, and 1973 weren’t as bad. I learned about all six of these years and I need to choose one that I think was the worst and explain why, but also follow up with why the other years were bad, but not as bad as 1950.
