  • Title: The Impact of Stress, Physical Activity, and Divorce on Chronic Illness and Mental Health in Middle and Late Adulthood

Respond to these questions with at least 150 words and support each answer with an academic article
As discussed in chapter 14, chronic illnesses and overly normal amounts of stress is endured during one’s midlife. Do you think stress can influence the development of a chronic illness? Why or why not?
Dementia and Alzheimer’s are disheartening diseases which may impact our older loved ones physically involving the brain, but also mentally as it can trigger mental health complications such as immense anxiety. • Title: The Impact of Pharmacological and Nonpharmacological Measures on Pain Control in Adult Hospitalized Post-Surgical Patients within the First 48 Hours Post-Operatively: A Nursing Perspective

Question: In adult hospitalized post-surgical patients, how does the use of pharmacological measures compared to nonpharmacological measures affect pain control within the first 48 hours post-operatively ?
Significance of the Study to Nursing
    · Describe the importance of the study to nursing and justify the need for the study through clinical experience and through a review of the literature.
    · Include primarily nursing literature, although literature from other disciplines can be used also.
o Example: This study is being conducted in an attempt to provide empirical data that will contribute to Nursing’s evidence-based practice. While nursing studies have been conducted to empirically investigate factors that influence African American women in following the breast cancer screening guidelines each have concluded that a qualitative study is indicated (Cullen, 2007, Anderson, 2008 and Smith, 2009).
    Research Questions and/or Research Hypotheses
A study can designate either to have research questions or research hypotheses. The researcher will decide which one is appropriate depending on the research problem statement.
    Research Questions:
    · Write the research question(s) clearly concisely.
    · The questions need to contain the population to be studied, the setting, and the variables of interest.
    · The relationship between the problem and the research questions needs to be clear and indisputable.
    · Connect the questions with the identified dependent and independent variables
o Example: In African American women ages 30 to 65 living in the Southeastern region of the United States, how does lack of insurance affect having a mammogram?
    Research Hypotheses
    · Write each hypothesis to state the expected outcome and indicate how this will be measured.
    · You can write a simple hypothesis, which is a hypothesis that expresses an expected relationship between one independent and one dependent variable.
    · A complex hypothesis refers to a prediction of a relationship between two (or more) independent variables and/or two (or more) dependent variables.
o Example: More African American women ages 30 to 45 who participate in a breast cancer education will get a mammogram than African American women ages 55 to 65 who receive only printed literature.
    Theoretical/Conceptual Framework
In this section select a nursing or other theory that describes the problem being identified.
    · Describe fully the theoretical or conceptual framework you selected to guide the development of the study.
    · Explain the theory in sufficient detail to allow the reader to follow the logical flow between the theory and the proposed study.
    · Make a conceptual map identifying the linkage between the problem, the theory, the interventions and the expected outcomes.
o Example: The theory that will be used to guide this research is Imogene King’s Theory of Goal Attainment (King,1981) because this theory states that individuals have the capacity to think, make choices, and select alterative courses of action that influence the goals they set and attain.

  • Title: “Improving Healthcare Organizations through Strategic Leadership and Policy Implementation: A Case Study Analysis”

Understanding the responsibility and concerns of healthcare is important in creating policies that leadership can use to streamline success. If strategic leadership is not realized over time, healthcare organizations’ political influences may face challenges and create public disinterestedness in health policies. These issues create restrictions  on the healthcare organization’s ability to meet its financial budget, gain community’s trust and involvement, and secure political influence(s). This negatively impacts the overall performance of the healthcare organization. The ideas of process innovation, risk taking, health building analysis, and governance greatly impacts “sense-making” for those being led. These ideas bring understanding to the role of governance in the organization. Review the case study “Australian Surgery Indicator Makes the Front Page” in Chapter 15 of your textbook and discuss the following questions in a minimum of 250 words:
After your review, do the conclusions you draw from the case justify the headline? Why or why not?
Discuss the indications found in Table 15-1 and their effect on the health care organizations efficiency in elective surgery.
Evaluate the avoidable rate of canceled surgeries and develop an implementation plan to overcome the concerns.
Develop a mini policy to address the issues between the doctors and the organization.

  • “Navigating Healthcare Costs: Impact on Hospitals, Physician Leaders, and Cost Allocation Methods”

Respond to the question responses with 200 word responses.
How will the four forces that are likely to affect healthcare costs during the next 5 to 10 years make a difference to costs for a 500-bed hospital with a level-4 trauma center?
The four forces that are likely to affect healthcare costs during the next 5-10 years will influence changes in costs for a 500-bed hospital with a level 4 trauma center by costing more money. The technology will expand as will the requirements to keep the technology up to date, the rate of inflation will likely continue to rise adding to costs, environmental factors (such as pollution and weather changes) will likely negatively impact patients and make the cost of treatment expand. Short staffing will also become an issue for healthcare systems as they are currently working with short staffing which in turn will impact patient care and patient outcomes.
How can physician leaders become involved in cost control? Provide two examples.
Physician leaders become involved in cost control by utilizing machines that will prove to be financially worth the cost as time progresses. In the Lakeside case study, in the end the renal machines were worthless and couldn’t even be used as scrap machinery and had no resale value. Physicians working with vendors and manufacturers of machines to be used in patient care can determine what to spend the most money on that will return the benefit over years. Physicians can also ensure that the machinery purchased is retrofitted in the even that the healthcare system cannot purchase brand new state of the art equipment and software, sometimes the money that isn’t spent is more valuable than the cost.
What is the difference between a cost object’s direct cost and its full cost? Provide an example in a healthcare organization context. Be specific about the type of healthcare organization that you are referring to (e.g., hospital, clinic, a department within a hospital and so on).
The difference between a cost object’s direct cost and its full cost is that direct cost is the margin of contribution for each product and full cost is the combination of both variable and fixed costs to products (2023).
Identify and discuss three points that must be considered when using the step-down method of cost allocation in a healthcare organization. (e.g., hospital, clinic, a department within a hospital, and so on).
Three points that must be considered when using the step-down method of cost allocation in a healthcare organization are shared resources and support between departments that will benefit multiple departments in one organization and their interdependent relationship, each dept will have a more accurate assessment of their own indirect and direct costs and they’ll be able to see where costs can be saved or expanded to benefit the many departments that share resources and support, and the ability to make better decisions in regards to resources and cost is the final point of using the step down method of cost allocation.
