Developing Your Organization Development Leadership Style

Request for Proposals (RFP): Fresno County is home to more than 1,013,400 people1 and is in the central
San Joaquin Valley. This culturally diverse population has significant health disparities that affect the quality
of life in the county. Recently, Fresno County was awarded $10 million as the result of an air and water
pollution settlement and was challenged to use these funds to improve population health. There were no specific
restrictions on the types of projects that would qualify for Fresno County Settlement Fund. Consideration will
be made for program plans that focus on improving the health and well-being of Fresno County residents and
particularly those that address the health issues impacting residents, families, and/or children in the County’s
poorest neighborhoods. Awards will be for a maximum of $175,000 each year for a three-year funding period
($500,000 maximum for a single agency). Your agency director has charged you with the responsibility to
develop of a program proposal to be submitted for this funding. (Incidentally, the director has indicated that
your position and salary is contingent upon receiving this award. The Project Director’s salary is $50,000 per
year with benefits at 38%. Your agency has negotiated an indirect rate of .15 of MDTC with this funder. The
RFP has been announced with a final deadline of May 13, 2024 (at 5:00 pm). (Please note as with any RFA,
the deadline date is absolute!!! No proposals will be accepted after May 13, 2024, at 5:00 pm.)
To be considered for funding, you are required to submit a nonbinding “letter of intent” that includes a brief
discussion of the proposed organizational sponsors, need and proposed program, and anticipated total budget.
Your letter of intent is due by February 2, 2024.
The RFP states that all proposals must include the following components (pages) and (weighted points) for

In your paper:
Briefly summarize the presented issue.
Describe your thoughts on the role healthcare professionals should play in resolving the ethical issue.

Your paper should be 2–3 pages long. Use APA Style to cite and reference the article and any other optional sources you use. Adhere to APA Style formatting throughout your paper.

Goal: To examine (compare and contrast) competing views on challenges in major age-based social policies (and problems). I am asking you to choose one topic:
1) “Caregiving” and polices and programs to help informal (family), and formal “direct-care” workers. For this topic, The Age of Dignity, can be a major resource. Chapters 3-5 deal with the socioeconomic context of caregivng from unpaid and paid caregivers. They also discuss the advocacy programs created by Ai-jen Poo as well as the state and federal policies that she is trying to bring into law. Other recommended readings are below. 
2) Social Security and policy changes needed to maintain the financial solvency of the Social Security program. For this topic, chapter 17 in Social Gerontology can be a major resource for background and history, as well as some current debates on “solvency” and “privatization.” From the “Social Security Challenge,” you now know about a wide range of financial options to explore. Not all are being discussed in public debates. 
You choose one, not both. Detailed instructions are inside. I also included suggested readings on both topics.
Content Areas:
1.Introduction & Data (5 points): What is the current crisis or challenge that needs to be addressed? How would you define it from social and economic perspectives? This section should include “background” data and statistics to help illustrate the problem or challenges. 
2. Defining the Programs and Policy Issues : (5 points) What policies, programs, or options are already being discussed to address the challenge. What major policies or programs have already been created in this area and what do they contribute to the current situation in terms of services or benefits provided? 
3. Future Issues and Debates: (10 points) This should be an important part of the paper; and not just be a listing of your own opinions. Please look for some solid resources where different opinions are being debated.   What are some of the greatest challenges (politically or economically) affecting the future of this program or service? How many more people are expected to need these services or supports in the future? What changes, if any, might be needed, to prepare for meet demand and sustain these services?  
4. APA-Style Citations & References: (5 points). This is important. I would like to see full and complete in-text citations (as a sign of academic respect and acknowledgment to the work you are using. I also want to see at least five (5) references used and discussed. That does not mean you have to use all sources in equal amounts; some sources can be used to provide useful facts and data, while other sources are needed to explain longer arguments, ideas, and decisions.

Areas for development:
It is unclear what is the leadership challenge in question. You have mentioned several things, but your background does not address a specific leadership challenge. It then moves on to the area of leadership addressed, however the case scenario does not indicate any instances where this was shown. It seems transformational leadership addressed here, better fits the recommendations or even reflection chapters. You need to provide a more focused leadership style where you can identify leadership theories, approaches and styles so you can later link this to the recommendations where a change would be expected. Servant leadership and adaptive leadership are considered more styles than approaches. For approaches you would be thinking of transactional, transformational or situational. The discussion then provides communication strategies and conflict resolution techniques, however this needs to be further explored and critically analysed. It is unclear in what context due to lack of background specification. There is a list of recommendations mostly based in the decision-making framework, there is no mention of recommended leadership styles or approaches. Please remember the reflection chapter is not only on lessons learnt from the case but overall, and how you will use these to inform future practice.

First Aid
1. Math Practice—This is a 5-part project: EMT calls. For this project, use the 2011 and 2013 national

5. Mnemonic: Create a mnemonic to remember the response steps when someone is in shock.

9. Demonstration: Record a video that demonstrates for your class the proper way to splint an arm or leg
and how to apply a sling with a binder.
10. Collage & pamphlet: Create a collage by taking pictures (your own or from the Internet) of poisonous
items that children or animals may have access to in the home. Search the PMI online library and/or
other appropriate resources for articles on how to safeguard the home. Create a parent-education
handout about how to prevent children and/or pets from accessing the items pictured in your collage.
11. Kit: Create a first-aid kit for use at home or in your car. Take pictures of each of the items in the kit
and add captions to identify the objects and why you chose to include them.
12. PowerPoint: Research the two major types of diabetic emergencies. Create a PowerPoint that spells
out the two emergencies including the signs of each, as well as the treatment required in each
situation. Be sure to include a balance of graphics and text.
13. Library research & writing: Search the PMI online library and/or other appropriate resources for
articles about concept of the “Good Samaritan Law.” Write a one-page paper in which you summarize
the underlying principles and give your opinion regarding the importance of the law. Make sure to
supply supporting evidence for your opinion and list your references.
14. Library research & virtual presentation: Search the PMI online library and/or other appropriate
resources for articles and information about anaphylactic shock. Include the causes and effects of this
condition. Record your presentation for the class to educate them on what you learned. Attach a list of
your references when you upload the presentation.
BLS/CPR
1. Math Practice—This is a 5-part project: Heart rate. Record your RESTING heart rate for 3 consecutive
days. The best time to do this is when you wake up and are still lying in bed (for guidance, see

2. Compare: Create a three-column table that details the different ways that basic life support/BLS is
administered for infants, children, and adults.
3. Library research and writing: Search the PMI online library and/or other appropriate resources for one
or more articles about the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Write a one-page essay on
whether you think a member of the general public should be allowed to use an AED. Use the
information from the articles to support your opinion. List your references at the end of your paper.
4. Library research and virtual presentation: Search the AHA web site (www.heart.org) for information
about the statistics for and history of CPR. Present your findings to your classmates by recording a
video of your presentation or using a PowerPoint – for the history portion, select 3 to 5 key
