practices of one of the cultures listed below and then answer the following questions. Please
choose a cultural group that is different from your own. 
To complete this assignment, you are to use at least 4 credible, scholarly resources (no websites).
You are to include the questions in your assignment and answer all questions in complete
sentences, with proper spelling and grammar. This paper is to be formatted as per the 7th edition
of the APA manual. The length of the paper should be no longer than 4-5 pages, excluding title
page and reference page.

1. How is pregnancy viewed in your chosen culture? Are there any specific traditions or
customs involved in conception or pregnancy 
2. Are there specific beliefs about medication in pregnancy, such as the use of an epidural,
or medications to treat pregnancy conditions? 
3. Who is involved in the delivery? How are they involved? For example, does their culture
encourage the partner to attend the birth? If not, how does the nurse respond to this? Are
any other family members expected to be there? How do we, as nurses, respectfully
encourage family centered care within their culture? 
4. Describe any customs that are done when the baby is born. Are there any difficulties that
may arise in the delivery room between the hospital’s procedures and the cultural
traditions of birth? 
5. What are the postpartum customs for the mother? Newborn? 
6. Assume that you are the nurse caring for a patient from your chosen culture, how would
you advocate for your patient and their culture with the rest of the healthcare team?   

PUBLIC HEALTH ESSAY ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS 
OVERVIEW
The purpose of this assignment is to help you consider your public health career goals and answer the question, “What is public health?”. This is also an opportunity to explore how public health fits into your life. If you are a Master of Public Health student, this paper will meet your Gate 2 requirement. This assignment meets course learning outcome A. 
INSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment, you will write a 5–7 page research-based paper, not including the cover page, abstract, and reference page, describing the practice of public health and how a public health degree relates to your career goals. The paper must provide insight into your understanding of the scope of public health practice and the importance of community interventions to solve population-based problems 
The paper must use current AMA format and include at least five peer-reviewed or governmental sources. Sources must be less than five years old.
In a 5-7 page AMA style paper, excluding the title page, reference page, and abstract:
• Describe the scope of public health practice. (Hints: Review the 10 essentials of health.)
• Provide a summary of your professional goals and how your thoughts about how a public health degree relates to those goals and might advance a career in public health. (Note: If you are not a public health major, how might public health knowledge help you in your career or life?)  
• Include 5 peer-reviewed or governmental references required that are less than five years old.   

Within the Discussion Board area, write 400-600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Select a low-income community and major health issue related to poverty pair from the list below.

Choose one health behavior change theory from among those in E-Lecture 2B (e.g., Health Belief Model).
Briefly describe the community’s cultural and economic background. Apply the selected theory to understand health behaviors influenced by poverty.
Strategy Proposal:
Propose one practical intervention using the health behavior change theory you have chosen to address the health issue in the community you have chosen while considering its potential economic impact on the community. Ensure the intervention is culturally appropriate and feasible within the community’s economic constraints.
Reflection:
Reflect concisely on the potential effectiveness and broader impacts of your proposed intervention. Discuss possible challenges and the ethical considerations of implementing your strategy.
