Assignment: Running an ANOVA Test
Unit Outcomes addressed in this assignment:
Apply statistics to a healthcare problem.
Formulate hypotheses based on a healthcare problem.
Complete an ANOVA test using statistical software.
Interpret ANOVA results.
Summarize the meaning of the results in a brief report.
Course Outcomes addressed in this assignment:
HS345-4: Analyze a dataset using a computerized statistical package for insight into a health-related problem.
GEL-1.02: Demonstrate college-level communication through the composition of original materials in Standard English.
Assignment Directions:
In the data collection discussion from Unit 1, collect the data that students provided for Variable 1, Variable 2, and Variable 3. Build an Excel file with two columns. Column 1 will be categorical data labeled “Group #” and will use the numbers 1, 2, and 3. Column 2 will be continuous data labeled “Score” and will use the values provided for Variable 1, Variable 2, and Variable 3.
Group 1 will use data from Variable 1. Group 2 will use data from Variable 2. Group 3 will use data from Variable 3. For example, in the introduction, if the student wrote Variable 1 = 289, Variable 2 = 297, and Variable 3 = 346, your Excel columns would look like this:
Continue adding all the values provided by the other students for Variables 1, 2, and 3. Be sure to group the variables together so that all values for Group 1 are together and all values for Group 2 are together, etc. Here is an example of what your completed Excel spreadsheet would look like, but with different data and fewer values than you will have:
As a mental health provider, you suspect that pairing new patients in your clinical practice with more experienced patients will help improve scores on their mental health assessments. To test your hypothesis, you develop an innovative mentoring program that has three groups. Group one will be the control and will consist of randomly selected participants receiving no intervention. Group two will be patients who meet in person weekly. Group three will be patients who regularly interact through social media and texting but never meet in person.
Analyze the scores in the data you collected with ANOVA using appropriate statistical software, such as PSPP or SPSS.
Evaluate your findings and make recommendations. Write a report that summarizes your conclusions. In the summary, include the relevant ANOVA test results as part of your narrative (not just in a table), your recommendation, and its justification.
Requirements
Write at least 500 words and include a heading with your name, date, assignment, and course.
Any references should come from credible sources and use APA documentation.
Include a highly developed viewpoint that is free from plagiarism.
Organize your paper with subheadings.
Proofread to be free of grammar and spelling errors.

“Improving Labor Conditions and Patient Safety in Nursing Practice: A Community Awareness Presentation”
The purpose of this assignment is to raise awareness of issues in nursing practice related to improving labor conditions and patient safety. You are working as a nurse in a health care facility that is about to strike due to the unsafe patient-to-nurse ratio. The board plans to hire nurses to cover shifts during the staffing crisis. You have been asked to design a deliverable that will be presented to the community to increase awareness of the inadequate patient-to-nurse ratio, as well as develop solutions for patient safety. Choose one of the following deliverables to complete this assignment: A 6-8-slide digital presentation, including presenter’s notes with documentation of resources and a title slide. A 2-page infographic, including documentation of resources. Using the deliverable of your choice, be sure to address the following: Summary of the issue One or two real-world examples from relevant literature that highlight a specific situation in which an unsafe patient-to-nurse ratio resulted in a poor patient outcome. Solutions for improving the unsafe ratios. For example: budgets, current nursing shortages, or patient satisfaction. Opportunities for community involvement and advocacy. Support your deliverable with a minimum of two scholarly resources (not including the textbook). While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion. You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

“Exploring Substance Abuse Treatment Strategies for Justice-Involved Individuals: A Case Study Analysis and Intervention Plan”
Various models of substance abuse prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation are available for the delivery of support services for justice-involved individuals with addiction and substance abuse issues. It is important to understand how and when these various models can be applied to various diverse populations. Much information about a client’s situation can be obtained through intake interviews with the client. In this assignment, you will explore the types of information you can learn about your client through an intake interview, and discover how to apply substance abuse prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation models to such a situation. Continue in your role as an intern with the substance abuse facility. Review the Intake Assessment Form. As part of your internship, you have been asked by program managers to complete an intake assessment. Create a fictional history of an inmate or offender who has an alcohol or substance abuse disorder to use for this assignment. Create a 12- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation on what you have learned from the questions asked during the intake assessment. For your presentation, you should: Describe the inmate or offender with an alcohol or substance abuse disorder who is seeking treatment at your correctional facility (e.g., prison, jail, parole, probation, or diversion). Describe this inmate or offender’s life experience through their initiation of substance use, prior treatment, and any periods of sobriety. Describe and analyze at least 2 models of substance abuse prevention, intervention, and/or rehabilitation that could be used in the delivery of support services for this client. Outline the treatment strategies you are proposing for the inmate or offender. Identify 2 treatment goals you will work on with the inmate or offender. Include at least 2 references. Format any citations in your presentation according to APA guidelines.

DIKW Paradigm in Healthcare Informatics
In the era of cloud computing bringing patient information from paper to electronic has opened avenues of collecting an intensive amount of data. Healthcare data involves a variety of complex steps to extrapolate valid data that supports evidence-based practices. The complexity of extrapolating data from multiple disciplines and interprofessional collaboration builds that foundation that contributes directly to the coordination of care. The disciplinary approach for understanding informatics is the data, information, knowledge, and wisdom (DIKW) paradigm, which is the knowledge of the core elements of informatics.

To make analytical decisions concerning health care information the data must be retrievable, accurate, relevant, verifiable, and timely. Informatics allows data to be extrapolated from different platforms providing the knowledge and giving insight to the wisdom when making decisions that support improved patient outcomes.
Before you begin, be sure you review the following resources:

Discussion Topic
For this week’s discussion review the two videos and discuss the process of DIKW to the following scenario.
Mike P. is a medical assistant who works in a small clinic providing patient check-ins, immunizations, and laboratory procedures. Today, Mike P. is screening a patient who has multiple health challenges – asthma, multiple sclerosis, kidney disease, and auditory deficit. The patient lives with his parents and presents today without hearing aids. Mike P prepares for screening the patient by review the patient’s record through EHR. He notes patient has not had a flu vaccine and needs an updated medication reconciliation. The clinical decision support system (CDSS) lists him as having an auditory deficit and requires sign language. As Mike P prepares to screen the patient, he calls the patient back to the screening room using sign language. Mike notices the patient is showing signs of respiratory difficulty and consults with the physician.
In your original post, answer the following:
Apply the DIKW to the above scenario, explaining each step in the DIKW paradigm.
How is this applicable to informatics and evidence-based practices?
