  • “The Deccan Plateau and Hindu Kush: Exploring the Geographical and Cultural Significance of Two Diverse Regions”

I have attached the instructions on the document “Research Paper 1301.” The two locations assigned are the Deccan Plateau and the Hindu Kush. I have also included all of the lecture slides and a few sample pieces for reference to the writing style used in the past.

  • Annotated Bibliography for Final Presentation on the Geographic Concepts of [Topic] Title: Annotation of Three Sources for Presentation Development

This is part of a 3-PART SERIES OF ASSIGNMENTS on the SAME topic. Assignment #1 – the Bibliography (submitted Week 3). Assignment #2 – the Outline – is due Week 5. Assignment #3 – the Final Presentation – is due Week 7. You’re building this project throughout all three Assignments, using the same or similar topic.
For this project, you’ll choose a topic and then research how four geographic concepts are related to and affect your topic. Instead of presenting your research as a traditional paper, you’ll use PowerPoint to create a narrated presentation. Your presentation will be structured like a paper, including a title, introduction to the topic, main body, summary and conclusions, and references. Creative use of properly cited graphics and photos from the Internet relevant to your topic is required.
First, choose a topic! Topics must be a food item, cuisine, invention, or idea with a SUPER CLEAR REGION OF ORIGIN. Do some investigation of the 4 required elements (see below) before you settle on one topic. If you’re not sure if your desired topic is appropriate, please feel free to ask!
Your topic must be analyzed through these 4 required elements to determine how each of these geographic concepts affects or is related to your topic: 1. Regions 2. Cultural Landscape 3. Diffusion 4. Distance decay. The first two concepts are covered in the first chapter of your textbook. Diffusion is covered in Chapter 8, Section 2. Distance decay refers to the fact that influence and interaction between locations decreases as the distance between them increases. As such, it has a significant influence on how things change as they diffuse away from their point of origin. Be sure to address these specific geographic terms and concepts in your work. You don’t need to address them in this order, but you do need to address all of them. You may use “subsets” of these definitions (e.g., contagious diffusion) if such subsets exist. Be sure to refer to your text and other reliable resources to ensure you completely understand these concepts. You should be detailed in your treatment of these concepts – for instance, you should explain both how and why your choice varies by region, and how and why it has been affected by distance decay. Remember that geography, as an academic discipline, seeks to explain why things vary from place to place, not just describe how they do.
FOR ASSIGNMENT #1, you will complete your annotated bibliography. Completing the project in separate assignments allows you to work your way up to the final presentation and provides opportunity for feedback along the way.
Assignment Objective: Assess sources for your research for your final presentation (for credibility, reliability, and relevance) and list references in proper APA format through the creation of an annotated bibliography.
Assignment Instructions: An annotation is a summary and evaluation, and your annotated bibliography will include a summary and evaluation of some of the sources (or references) you will use for your presentation.
To prepare for this assignment, I recommend that you do the following:
    Read these directions carefully.
Review the sample annotated bibliography provided to you below.
Read the grading criteria below. The grading criteria is a detailed evaluation that I will use to assess your performance. It also will help you understand what is expected of you as you prepare your assignment.
    Email me with any questions!
The reason the annotated bibliography is included as part of the research project is that writing an annotated bibliography provides excellent preparation for the final presentation. One of the issues regarding any type of research is the credibility of the sources used, particularly those obtained from various websites. By evaluating your potential sources carefully, the annotated bibliography helps you determine if the sources you chose are credible and relevant to your topic. It will also help you understand the topic better, which will help you develop your presentation.
For this project, you will assess three sources to include:
a complete citation for each source,
a summary of each source, and
    an evaluation of each source.
Three sources are required for this assignment (i.e., you are to write an annotation for each source). However, you must use five or more sources in Assignment #2 and 3.
Use the TEMPLATE below to summarize and evaluate each of your three sources.
    Citation:
Written in APA reference list format. For more help with formatting, see APA handout.
    Summary:
What is the purpose of the source, review article, original research? What topics are covered? This section is generally 3-5 sentences that summarize the author’s main point. For more help, see this link on paraphrasing sources.
    Evaluation:
After summarizing the article (or research paper or book), it is necessary to evaluate it and state where you found it – its source (e.g., journal, website, etc.). Briefly answer the following questions in 3-5 sentences:
What is the format or type of source (e.g., peer-reviewed journal paper, website, book)? How reliable is the information in the article, and how credible is the source (e.g., website’s sponsoring organization, journal or book publisher) and the author(s)?
For more help, see this handout on evaluating resources.

  • “Improving Eye Care and Access to Eye Glasses in South Asia: A Feasible Service Project Proposal”

The project must be feasible in scale and scope for a
student’s time and budget. Choose a specific location rather than a grand scale
    project like ending world hunger.
Service project: Specific Location- South Asia Service-
    Eye Care/Eye Glasses
Plan must be 1,000–1,250 words, use Times New Roman
12-point font with 1-inch margins, include a cover page, the required 10 sections listed in attachment, a reference page, a map, and a realistic budget. Cite at least five
scholarly sources in current APA format.
Paper will be scanned for AI and to turnitin for Plagiarism.
    Three sources below to start:
Here’s how we can provide better eye care for the world | World Economic Forum (weforum.org)
    https://globaleyehealthcommission.org/app/uploads/2021/02/The-Lancet-Global-Health-Commission-on-Global-Eye-Health_Release_No-embargo.pdf

  • “Interpreting Landscape History: A Journey Through the Past and Present of [Place]”

The final paper is a chance for students to exercise the knowledge and skills learned in this class. This paper will require students to utilize the themes, tools, and perspectives studied in this course to present the place and related topic/issue from the research proposal.
Final: Based on the place and issue/topic chosen in your research proposal, write a brief essay discussing your interpretation of some aspects of its landscape history, using themes, tools, and perspectives we have studied in class. The paper should successfully tell a story that will explain to the reader how this place came to have the shape and qualities it has today. You should think of this paper as an exercise in historical, geographical, and environmental interpretation, asking you to read a small patch of landscape as a document of past social and environmental change. Your paper should illustrate one or more of the important themes covered in the course. So think carefully about which course themes can help you to interpret the history of your place, and which aspects of your place can illustrate the themes of the course.
Google Slide: Each student will be required to design a (1) “scrapbook-style” slide about their research topic on a collective presentation linked below. This way, everyone may see and learn what their peers are researching. This will also be a chance to exercise creative liberty, as students are encouraged to include photos along with main points and/or quotes from their paper
the project proposal has been attached so if you could write the paper and slides around that. there are also citations to scholarly articles you can use. feel free to add any other sources you need.

  • Title: The Impact of Climate Change and Ozone Depletion on Antarctica: Causes, Effects, and Solutions

My research topic of choice should relate to the material in chapter 13 in the attached world regional geopgrahy pdf textbook.
Climate change and Ozone depletion in Antartica (causes and effects)
    1000-1500 words (4-6 pages of text-double spaced)
Double spaced, standard fonts, and margins
    Include at least one map
Include at least one associated graphic, such as a table, a photo, or a graph
Need to include a minimum of 4 college level sources properly cited.  (in-text citations and the corresponding reference list). Sources must be from a credible source, and academic in nature.  (no Wikipedia, etc.)
Make sure the paper is as objective and as academic as possible. Academic writing should be in the third person (not the first person). The reader should not be able to tell what the authors opinion of the topic is. It should start with a thesis statement and then expert/credible sources should be quoted and examined in order to prove the thesis statement. An easy way to tell if it is the first person is if the word ‘I’ is in the paper.
    APA STYLE
Papers with more than a 15% originality match to any one source, or an overall score of 30% or higher from all sources, will not be accepted and will need to be re-written, and re-submitted. Plagiarism is checked through Turnitin.

  • “Reducing Our Environmental Footprint: A Proposal for Implementing Recycling Practices in the Workplace”

My topic is pollution prevention but I’m going to focus on recycling
The semester project is designed to get you to think about a topic in sustainability, dealing with the problem it presents and the solutions that may exist. Let’s frame it this way:
You are a sustainability officer for a company. You need to write a proposal for your corporate executive that deals with an issue of sustainability that you see within the company. Begin by describing the problem, move to why it is a concern, and then what are potential solutions to the problem.
The proposal must have formal styling, as this is your boss you’re writing to, and long enough to describe the issues being faced with detailed information on how we can potentially solve the problem. To help you frame this aspect, it needs to be 3-5 written pages in length with size 12 Times New Roman font, 1in margins.  Additionally, you need to provide a cover page and a page of references. These sheets do not apply to your page counts.
    – argue for the to persuade the company
    – a solution
    – background information
    – resources

  • Title: Key Lime Pie: A Globalized Dish from Florida, USA Key Lime Pie, the official pie of Florida since 2006, is a beloved dessert that has become synonymous with the state’s identity. However, this iconic dish is

Food is an indicator of cultural identity and change. In fact, many scholars consider food an expression of national/local identity. Considering the example of a traditional dish, in this case, Key Lime Pie (the official pie of Florida since 2006), answer the following question using key definitions related to this topic and included in the course textbook (Getis et al. 2017), including but not limited to cultural diffusion and its two major types: expansion diffusion and relocation diffusion (including the most relevant example of relocation diffusion: “The Columbian Exchange”), globalization, etc.:
Can Key Lime Pie (from Florida USA) be considered an expression of globalization?
Any geographically-based essay must answer three broad questions: Where? Why? (and how?), and, So what? (or, why is this important?).
For example, where is located the center of domestication of the plants and animals (ingredients) included in a Key Lime pie: wheat (crackers), lime (juice and zest), chicken (eggs), sugarcane (sugar), cattle (butter, whipping cream, condensed milk)? [map Centers of Plant and Animal Domestication (Getis et al. 2017).
Why (and how) were these ingredients introduced to the country where this dish was developed (Florida, USA)? [cultural diffusion and in its two major types: relocation and expansion diffusion.]
The “So what?” or, in other words, “why is this important?” question is an overview of the principle elements that can explain how this recipe was developed in this country and must include a conclusions paragraph of your analysis. Your answer should reflect knowledge of the topic applying the concepts learned in our course, and, most importantly, using your own words. Working in teams is not allowed. Explain your answer in NO less than 500 words and no more than 800 words. Essays that are less than 500 words in total will lose points. The word count does not include your name, PID, the title of your essay, Bibliography, or if you copy the question posed in your work. Your work must also include at-least a one-page image (picture) related to the examples provided, and a reference of the source where we can find this information, both in your essay (next to the picture) and in your bibliography page.

  • “A Journey of Migration: Tracing My Cuban Roots from Africa to South Florida” A Journey of Migration: Tracing My Cuban Roots from Africa to South Florida Migration is a fundamental aspect of human history, and my family’s story is no exception

In this assignment, you will compose an essay based on your family’s history of migration, starting from the ancestral origin of our species in Africa in a process described by de Blij and Muller (2010: 282) as the first round of globalization: “Africanization.” This took place several tens of thousands of years ago. Your essay must also describe the background of both of your parents’ families. Regardless of your ethnic background or family origin, all people living in the Americas (North, Middle, and/or South America) are descendants of migrants or are recent migrants. Even the ancestors of Native American populations came to the Americas crossing the Behring Land bridge (today’s Behring Strait) more than 14,000 years-before-present. It is interesting to note that in Canada these groups are known as “First Nations.” You must include references of your family’s [or your own] migration to the United States or to South Florida starting in our ancestral homeland (Africa), and the push or pull factors that may have influenced or contributed to their/your migration. You may describe your family’s originating country and culture, and how living in the United States has influenced or changed various tenets within that culture.
Your answer should reflect knowledge of the topic applying the concepts learned in our course, and, most importantly, using your own words. Please note that it is not allowed to work in teams. You must explain your answer in NO less than 500 words and no more than 800 words. Essays that are less than 500 words in total will lose points. The word count does not include your name, PID, the title of your essay, Bibliography, or if you copy the question posed in your work.
You must also demonstrate knowledge of this theme by using key definitions related to the topic of this assignment: migration, push and pull factors, etc., and included in our course textbook. Any geographically-based essay must answer three broad questions: Where? Why? (and how?), and, So what? (or, in other words, why is this important?). For instance, you can answer the following questions: Where did your father’s family (or his last name) originated? Where did your mother’s family (or her last name) originated? Why did your father’s/mother’s family migrated from their homeland? [push – pull factors?] In answering to the “So what?” question you must use the information you have included in the first two sections (Where? and Why?); this is an overview of your family background. It is also important to mention that if you don’t know much about your family background, you can include references to your ethnicity, and their path to migration to this country we know today as U.S.A. You can also make reference to the origin of the last names of your parents. Since this essay is based on the topic of migration, we would suggest you to start your essay by introducing this topic and its key definitions (i.e., what is Africanization, migration, push and pull factors?). In any case, it is very important that your essay mentions all aspects related to the “Africanization of the world”, as part of what de Blij and Muller call, “…the first great wave of globalization.” (2010: 282), and other aspects related to the major waves of human migration in the process of world colonization mentioned here.
    Ethnicity: Cuban from both parents.
