The topic is Surrogacy and Reproductive Rights. However, since it’s a group project, my specific focus is on the body of the research paper, which pertains to surrogacy. Thus, I am tasked with writing only 4 pages dedicated to surrogacy, along with citations.”

“Exploring the Global Impact of a Moral Issue on Cultural Communities: An Analysis Using Moral Theories”
a. Identify a moral issue à It will help you immensely if you use your group presentation topic as the moral issue of your ePortfolio paper. This way you only need to do one research project. You can, however, choose a separate topic. NOT EVERYTHING THAT IS CONTROVERSIAL IS A MORAL ISSUE—you must have your topic approved by me before you begin.
b. Determine how this issue affects multiple cultural communities à I am willing to entertain that you may decide to identify these communities along whatever demarcations work best for your existing knowledge, areas of interest, and ease of analysis.
c. Identify the ways this moral issue has had a global impact à Again, I am willing to let you decide what constitutes a global “impact,” however, you must determine these within the scope of the affects on the communities identified in (b) above. You must identify at least two ways this issue impacts these communities. You ought to consider an impact a way in which the moral issue creates additional complications for those communities.
d. Research à Research is more than just doing google searches although starting with a few google searches will help Being by identifying several “key terms” and use them to whittle down your research scope. Scroll through news articles that contain your search terms, watch news clips that discuss your issue, find sources that provide analysis from the perspective of the communities you are analyzing. You must use a minimum of five (5) sources for your essay and you must quote from those sources a minimum of two (2) times each in your essay – that means there should be at leastten (10) citations in your written work. Of your five (5) required sources at least three (3) must be from reputable print sources and all web sources must be equally reputable. Avoid blogs, tweets, tiktoks, personal web pages (unless it is a reliable source). If you are unsure about the quality of a source ask me, another professor, or a librarian for assistance. You will likely need to do research to clearly identify how you want to complete (b) and (c) above.
e. Outline BEFORE you write à Your essay should include sections that clearly focus on and address the requirements of the essay as given. It is much easier to write an essay if you have a “roadmap” to follow. So, a basic outline should look something like this:
1) Introduction – briefly identify your issue, why it is a moral issue, how you are going to evaluate it – identify the two moral theories you are going to use, explain why it matters to current socio-political discourse. (150 – 200 words)
2) Main Idea – explain the moral issue in depth, provide explanations of *both sides* of the issue – apply analysis from your two theories here. What communities are affected? How does this issue have a global reach? (550 – 800 words)
3) Sub-Main Idea – How does this issue “impact” the global community? Remember to extend your analysis here of the main issue to demonstrate how it compounds problems in other areas in moral ways. (150 – 300 words)
4) Sub-Main Idea – What is a likely response to the issue? Why is that response a good moral critique of or position to take on the issue. You need to defend your position here so be sure to provide solid evidence in support of your claims. It is important that you are developing “your claims” and not merely parroting what other people are saying (300 – 500 words)
5) Conclusion – Sum up your position succinctly. However, you should also indicate problems with your proposed solution, areas where additional research may be needed, what might affect your judgement of the issue, etc. DO NOT SIMPLY RESTATE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ALREADY SAID.
f. Write à Your essay should be type-written, 12 pt Times New Roman font, double spaced, appropriately formatted (standard settings in Word), and your citations should follow the guidelines of the Chicago Manual of Style (available free online) -

Title: “A Comprehensive Policy for Addressing the Immigrant Situation at the Southern Border” Policy: The United States government should adopt a comprehensive policy that balances the humanitarian needs of immigrants with the safety and security of the country. This policy should address
Your assignment is to come up with a policy of how to deal with the immigrant situation at our Southern border.
Who do we let in?
How many do we let in?
What do we do with the people when they first show up at the border- some argue we keep them in facilities until we know they’re not coming in for possibly bad reasons. Some say we shouldn’t detain anyone because it’s inhumane. We’ve seen pictures of kids in what looks like cages while they are being processed to make sure they’re with their parents and not being smuggled in for possibly bad reasons (sex trafficking).
This issue is a very difficult one and will require some thought. Look for resources online but I want your answer to be your answer not just a copy/paste of something you found online.
After coming up with your answer, show how your answer fits into or disagrees with the three theories from the Chapter four Matrix. Consequentialism, Deontology or Virtue Theory -
Title: “The Ethics of Genetic Engineering: Examining the Arguments for Creating “Better Babies”” 1. In the article, “Bioethicist Julian Savulescu Argues for Engineering Babies That Will Have an Easy Life,” Savules
cientists have recently made revolutionary advancements in genetic engineering that would allow people to create “better babies” through genetic modification. Scientists could potentially manipulate genes for traits like intelligence, obesity, attractiveness [eye color hair color, skin color, height, etc.], hereditary diseases, and even criminality, violence/ aggression.
Read this article before answering the following questions: https://www.vice.com/en/article/bmv7qa/bioethicist-julian-savulescu-argues-for-engineering-babies-that-will-have-an-easy-life
1. Summarize Savulescu’s argument in the article? What reasons does he give? Be detailed and this must be in your own words. Do not copy from the article.
2. What are two possible societal problems that could arise from modifying the genetic traits of individuals? Be detailed and specific about the problems.
3. We already practice some forms of eugenics when parents screen embryos for Down Syndrome or other genetic conditions, or when women pick the “best” sperm donors from a list of desirable traits. Is modifying the genes of embryos any different than aborting an embryo with Down Syndrome or selecting a smart and handsome sperm donor? Is the basic idea behind it the same? Why or why not?

“Deep-fake Videos and Disinformation: An Ethical Analysis through the Lens of Virtue Ethics”
The Ethics Paper will give you the opportunity to research an ethical issue and present clear and valid moral arguments for and against your position and provide an analysis of the issue using the strengths and weakness of an ethical theory covered in class.
the topic i have chosen is “Deep-fake videos and disinformation”
Deep-fake videos involve the use of AI to create realistic-looking
videos of people saying or doing things they never did.
and the position i am taking is : Deep-fake videos compromise the integrity of media and are unethical in all contexts, as they deceive and sow distrust within society.
the ethical theory i am using is Virtue ethics
Virtue ethics is a philosophical approach that focuses on the character
of the moral agent rather than the consequences of actions or adherence
to rules. It emphasizes cultivating virtuous traits such as honesty,
integrity, and trustworthiness. According to virtue ethics, ethical
decisions are made by considering what a virtuous person would do in a
given situation.
I believe this is the best theory to address my ethical topic because it
emphasizes the importance of character and moral integrity. Prioritizing
privacy, truthfulness, and societal trust aligns with virtuous traits such
as honesty, respect, and responsibility. By considering the virtues
involved in the use of deep-fake technology, individuals and
organizations can make ethical decisions that promote the well-being of
societal and uphold moral principles.
