  • Title: “A Second Chance” The final act of the play had just ended, leaving the audience in a state of shock and disbelief. The main character, John, had made a decision that ultimately led to his downfall. As the curtains closed

Write an alternative ending to the play and explain why you would change what happened.  This new ending option works best with endings in which you think the character(s) made a bad decision or where the author has done something unsatisfying for you as a reader.  Try to retain the voice and style of the author.  Preferably, this should not merely be an explanation of an alternative ending, but a real narrative that picks up at a specific place in the original.

  • “The Legacy of Jim Crow: Addressing Systemic Inequality and the Role of the Federal Government”

i already written, and my teacher reviewed and gave me bad score, need to resubmit.
teacher feedback: No need to boldface your title. Keep it shorter too. Where is the broad context. African Americans have not been treated fairly. Bring in the Plessy decision that started Jim Crow. Also italicize newspaper titles. Bring in the Latin terms de facto and de jure segregation and his main point. You need to end with your position. Is the federal government obligated to find a remedy. Start with your point. Rothstein is here to support your argument. You do not have a clear position at the end of your introduction. What are your reasons for that position. Each body paragraph needs to start with you. What about the counterargument that it would be unfair to other communities. You are short at least one page when it comes length requirement.

  • “Analyzing Scholarly Articles: A Critical Review of [Article Name] and Its Contribution to the Conversation on [Topic]”

The goal of this type of composition is to summarize another essay, ascertain the thesis and positions
presented in the text, and to present feedback about the efficacy of the text as well as the message it
proposes. Your assignment is to pick one of the scholarly articles that you have either identified in your
annotated bibliography or that you will be using in your Final Research Essay and perform this analysis.
You may also take two articles and discuss how these articles are in conversation with one another,
identifying how they either build on one another by developing concepts, extending concepts, or refuting
claims. To help with the analysis, you can refer to the “Engaging Sources” slide deck to determine how
the scholar creatively agrees or disagrees with the conversation about that subject. You can also examine
the rhetorical tactics that the author uses to make their point, identifying the elements of the rhetorical
ecology involved including audience, purpose, context, exigence, environment/community and/or kairos.
Your paper needs to be at least 500 words typed, double-spaced and must conform to MLA guidelines.

    Instructions
Not all assignments need to be papers and PowerPoints. It can be beneficial to learn new systems and to explore your creativity.
Infographics are used to communicate complex ideas in a visually pleasing, yet simple to understand manner.
Evaluation, create an Infographic that communicates the information you want to convey about either Thales, Pre-Socratic philosopher, or Socrates.
Imagine you are a recruiter for his school or his philosophy. Present reasons I would want to have this philosopher as my teacher.
    This satisfies Course Objective 1.
When creating your infographic, please consider the following:
Use an Infographic program such as Piktochart, Visme, MS Publisher, or MS PowerPoint. For many of these, you will need an account for them to work properly (they will still be free). Do not pay for an account.
Here is an Infographic on how to use Piktochart
Use copyright-free images (included in the Infographic program used).
Include text to explain your argument and describe your position.
Include data to support your argument.
Include at least two sources in the Infographic and include both references at the bottom AND citations on the infographic where the referenced material was used.
Post as either a PDF or a working link. Be sure the link works as I cannot grade what I cannot open.
Have fun with this assignment and be creative!
If you need an alternative format, please contact your instructor immediately.

  • The Tragic Fate of M. Haut: A Victim of Prejudice and Circumstances in 19th Century France

The following story by Anon was located in France and written in the late 1800’s.  During that time, the literary movement of Naturalism was in vogue.  This movement came about primarily as a result of Darwin’s publication Origen of the Species (1859) and other publications relating to Natural Selection and evolution.  The movement caused many writers and artists to depict humans as victims of their heredity and environment rather than individuals with God and free will on their side.  During this time characters were more subject to “Fate” –an uncontrollable force of circumstances into which they were thrown.  As a result, we must ask how much the character we are studying has to deal with Fate or how much he/she can practice free will.  In other words, how much is he/she actually “free” to develop and mature as an individual?
When you write, please refer to the main character as he, not they.
Make notes about the major points as you read, and think about some of the main messages/themes.  Then read the story again. Keep in mind the location and time period of the story.  For example, M. Haut cannot escape with a car or even on a bike.  He has no resources and he lives during a time when there were distinct social classes (low and high, with little middle class) along with all the prejudices relating to birth and status. Reputation was all-important and survival depended on bartering, and a good relationship with the community.
DO NOT LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR ANYONE ELSE’S VIEWS OR INTERPRETATIONS.
    Now write the following essay.
Give a short introduction, with a brief description of the where, when, what and how of the story (just a few lines).  Then end with a thesis that claims, Either:
    A) Haut, a humble peasant, was a victim of prejudice and circumstances beyond his control. There was nothing he could do to save his reputation or resume his life as a respected member of the community. He was fated for failure and death.
Your first paragraph after the introduction will give a summary of the story
Then, paragraph by paragraph, you will develop your thesis.  Think of all the reasons for M. Haut’s struggle, and divide each ‘reason’ into a separate paragraph, making sure you use short quotes from the story inside your own sentences.  YOU WILL HAVE MANY SHORT QUOTES FROM THE STORY. Please do not give ‘floating quotes.’  Lace them into your sentences naturally so the whole sentence makes sense.  There is no need to cite each quote since you are only discussing one story. Remember, a sensitive and accurate interpretation comes from a close study of the words in the story, not from dreaming up theories separate from the stories, or outside in the present world.  Avoid using psychological labels that relate to later times, like ‘paranoid,’ or manic depressive, etc.  This story takes place before Freud.  And remember, just STAY IN THE WORLD OF THE STORY.

  • “The Ongoing Struggle for Native American Rights: A Closer Look at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s Fight for Sovereignty” Introduction: The United States has a long history of mistreatment and oppression towards Native American tribes.

i already written, and my teacher reviewed and gave me bad score, need to resubmit.
teacher feedback: This needs to be twice as long. You need to develop your points more by connecting to the 14th amendment. What about the counterarguments that they already received almost 400 million in a lawsuit and have seven casinos. What about those who say it is unfari to other tribes that have things much worse, like the Pine Ridge reservation.
You should come up with your own title. Italicize newspaper titles. Where is your broad context. We discussed cultural genocide and Manifest Destiny. This is the background you need to introduce first. This info could go in the introduction before you state your thesis. You need to explain how Natives had no idea how to be a homesteader and grow cash crops like a little capitalist.
