genarted. Writing is my weakest so i will provide what i have …
Here is the promt
Think about an event or circumstance in your past that has influenced who you are today. Write a well-organized essay that clearly explains this event and the reasons it has been significant to you.
The passing of a loved one can deeply impact us and leave a lasting impression. The death of my grandfather was a significant event that has played a major role in shaping the person I am today. Within our family, my grandfather stood as a pillar of strength, imparting wisdom, direction, and unconditional love. His presence was a source of comfort and reassurance, and his absence left a profound emptiness. His passing plunged me into deep grief. Despite this sorrow, I discovered inner resilience; recognizing the need to not only succeed for myself but also in honor of him.
In the aftermath of his death, I uncovered newfound strength and resilience within myself while navigating through waves of grief with cherished memories and support from loved ones. Although the ache of losing him never fully faded away, I found determination to continue living purposefully and authentically in tribute to his memory.
His departure underscored life’s fragility and emphasized cherishing moments with those we hold dear. It cultivated in me profound gratitude for meaningful relationships as well as seizing opportunities without delay – leading me to pursue enrollment in Pre-Nursing.
Through this journey following his passing, I emerged as a more enduring individual; confronting challenges with bravery drawn from my grandfathers’ unwavering perseverance amidst adversity – reshaping my character with purposeful intent.
Today represents carrying forth his legacy by upholding it through actions aimed at making him proud – embodying values he instilled while treasuring memories shared together. Though dearly missed ,I embrace gratitude for how deeply he shaped who I have become.” -

“My Personal Research Journey: A Reflection on the I-Search Process”
Paper
NON INTERNET SOURCES! For this essay, you will be doing a version of an essay usually known as the “I-Search.” This type of assignment combines research, analysis, and narrative; you will use first-person as you explain your way through the research process. Remember: not only do you get to use first-person, but for this essay you will interject yourself continually. You are writing about yourself and your personal experience with researching a specific topic. You are investigating and interacting, so this paper is as much about you as it is the sources! What’s going on in your head as you progress?
Part I, your introduction, will also introduce the reader to any knowledge, experience, or background you already have about your topic, before you start researching. What do you already know about the topic? This can include some of what you have learned from your previous essay on internet sites, but try to personalize it. What attracted you to the topic? Was there anything about your topic that touches on previous interests you have? Perhaps you’ve seen a movie that mentions the topic, or you remember as a child hearing a story about your topic. Perhaps you didn’t know much about your topic when you signed up for it, but the little you have done on the internet has deepened your interest.
Part II will detail what you want to find out about your topic. List questions you have come up with since you began looking into the topic. These are the questions that you find most interesting, that you are most curious to have answered. What are the perspectives you are looking for, and how do you want to examine them? Are you hoping to come to a firm conclusion about your topic? How difficult of a time do you anticipate having in forming a strong opinion? This section should help focus your search because you are not randomly combing through sources but seeking for specific information. Not only will these questions guide you as you research, but in all likelihood they will determine the types of sources you choose in the first place.
Part III is the search itself and will consist of a section on each source. First, how did you find the source? What kind of source is it? Report on what this source has to say about your topic, using summary, paraphrase, and quoting, but also be sure to include your opinion on the source. Do you find it persuasive? Were you skeptical when you first began reading but eventually had your mind changed? Were you excited at first by what looked to be a great source but came to disagree with it? Does your source go any way towards answering your questions? Are you satisfied with the results of this search, or do you believe you will have more research to do before your fifth paper, the final one on your topic?
Part IV will function as your conclusion and summarizes what you have learned. Reflect upon the research process and explain not only the knowledge you have gained but how your perspective may have been changed or confirmed. Think of the process as a journey, a quest for truth. How far have you come? How much farther do you need to go? Are you satisfied with the progress you’ve made, both on your topic and as a researcher? -
“The Validity of the Yes Viewpoint on the Death Penalty”
My topic is the death penalty . The question is: Is the death penalty the worst sentence possible yes or no. This paper will be the viewpoint of the yes point of view.
In MLA format
Validity of Viewpoint A (1000 words, 3 sources minimum; one side, no personal stance)
Think of Viewpoint A as the yes to your controversial question. Write this section as if you are presenting research to those who disagree with View A, or are undecided, to help them make an informed, educated decision. Ex: Address those who are pro-life and present a researched argument to help them see the validity and main interests of those who are pro-choice. Present viewpoint fairly and accurately; discuss their main message, reasoning, and motivation. Use your knowledge of moral reasoning to effectively appeal to this part of your audience. -
“Brainstorming and Advocating for Change at CCC: Nearpod Reflection”
Mind: Zoom Class Session 1 of 3 (Asynchronous Alternative)
If you attended the Zoom class session and fully participated (which is tracked in the Nearpod assessment reports), you will receive full points. In that case, you do not need to do anything to complete this assignment.
For anyone who missed the Zoom class session, please see the directions for the alternative Zoom class session below.
As a “Mind” support for building our critical thinking skills through visible brainstorming that shows what is typically our invisible thoughts in our minds, we discussed how there is not a wrong way to show your brainstorming as long as someone else understands what you mean. In other words, if your brainstorming was just a drawing of red square and blue circle, that would take too much work to interpret. Your brainstorming, no matter what form you choose in the classes you take needs to clearly communicate what you have been thinking about. With that in mind, we reviewed and completed engagement checkpoints with the Nearpods below. For those of you who were absent, you need to complete all of the steps below.
Nearpod Link for Brainstorming Opinion Topic that is Focused on One’s Self. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming self-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
Nearpod Link for Brainstorming Opinion Topic that is Focused on Community. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming community-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
Nearpod Link for Organizer Research with a Web Organizer. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming research-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
In 3-5 sentences answer the following question. Given that we just learned about brainstorming and advocating for community change through writing, what is a change you would like to see at CCC?
Submission Guidelines: Submit a .docx or .pdf file in MLA format that answers all four steps above, and be sure to number each of the four steps. Therefore, your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on the self will be numbered 1. Your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on community will be numbered 2. Your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on research will be numbered 3. Your 3-5 sentence response about community change at CCC will be numbered 4. This assignment will be approximately 1 double-space page long.
