The final paper (10 pages plus references) is designed to show thought and reflection and synthesize course material supplemented with outside research.  The final paper will be an analysis of an emergent issue in emergency medical services, building on and utilizing concepts and materials identified in class and previous assignments. All topics with an outline must be approved by the professor prior to writing.  Students will address the topic of a) human resource challenges; budgetary challenges; or overall system design; in application to a County or municipal EMS system, or specific EMS agency.  Please use no larger than 12 font, double-spaced with either APA or MLA citations.
For my final paper, I would like to explore the human resource challenges faced by municipal
EMS systems in recruiting, training, and retaining qualified personnel. I am particularly
interested in examining the impact of factors such as high turnover rates, burnout, and the
increasing demand for EMS services on the recruitment and retention of EMS professionals. I
plan to analyze case studies of specific EMS agencies or municipal EMS systems to understand
the strategies they employ to address these challenges and propose recommendations for
improving the recruitment and retention of EMS personnel in the face of growing demands and
evolving healthcare landscapes
