Essay
Assignment Requirements:
Mark’s
behavior seemingly escalated over the course of the fall and eventually
resulted in his classification as a child with “Emotional Disturbance”.  For the purposes of this assignment, complete
a 500 word essay addressing the following:
1.    
Define
Emotional Disturbance according to IDEIA.
2.    
Identify
the characteristics in the above vignette that led to Mark’s classification as
Emotionally Disturbed.
3.    
Based
on the information presented, identify the type of emotional disturbance that
Mark is manifesting.
4.    
In
the context of the emotional outburst that led to Mark’s suspension by the
principal and the objections to this action by the family, discuss the
provision of manifest determination and the legalities regarding suspensions
and expulsions of students identified with special needs.
5.    
Determine
what the behavioral issues are as well as what classroom strategies you would
employ to address those behaviors and as well as improve Mark’s ability to
successfully participate in his current inclusionary classroom placement.

3 valid arguments provided to discuss the ways in which Differentiated Instruction caters for the needs, interests and pedagogical profile of learners in the secondary school context. Arguments must be supported with relevent examples. Bloom’s taxonomy’s action verbs must be used, multiple intelligence by VAKT and many other education, pedagogical and psychological related theories must be included.

I am an elementary teacher giving a graduation speech to high school seniors. The speech should be around 10 minutes. My ideas are embracing change and perseverance/resilience, and maybe something else??? 
Background- I have been teaching elementary school for 33 years. I grew up in this community, moved away, and am now living and teaching here again. This community has changed- the population as well as the size of the city has grown since I grew up here. I gave a high school graduation speech 36 years prior to this one as a senior…only this time it is in a brand new high school building. The community is a farming/ranching and oil community.
