  • “The Power of Perception in Flannery O’Connor’s A Good Man is Hard to Find: An Argumentative Analysis”

The final essay is a response to A Good Man is Hard to Find.  In the old days this is how argument was most often taught.  Students would read literature and make an argument about some element of the creative work.  This is what I want you to do.  This will involve some opinion you hold about the story.  But you opinion must be backed up by the text itself.
However, that doesn’t mean no research.  You can provide voices that agree with you, expert voices.  Not peers or non-experts of literature. I want you to find one academic book are article at the library.  Seek journals.  I want 3 sources minimum.
Now, there are aspect of this story that you might be able to interview some one local.  Not a peer.  But as you read the story, and you see some aspect, ask me about who you might interview for that aspect.
As before, the essay must be written in third person.  Always.  It must be 1800 words minimum.  It must be in MLA form and MLA documentation.  You need a debatable argumentative thesis.  Nothing has changed from the other essays in terms of what I expect.

  • “The Impact of Little Shop of Horrors: A Performance Review” Little Shop of Horrors is a musical comedy that was originally created by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken in 1982. The play was later adapted into a film in

Please paraphrase the paper in the attached doc, and make it to a full 3 page paper. The instruction for this paper is:
write a 3 pages paper for the play you watched at school, called “Little Shop of Horror”
Specific steps for writing a performance review:
    1. Summarize the play (briefly) and your initial response to it. What is its context, starting point, and aims?
    2. Find two specific elements that struck you and analyze how those two elements were represented. How did the message come across: specific lines, actions, technical means (lighting, sound effects, music, props, etc.? Were there any significant actions or gestures that contributed to the play’s meaning?
    3. Utilize the concepts and terminologies that we learned throughout this semester. You can also make a comparison in terms of plot, characters, language, genres, and styles between the performance and any plays) that we have read for class.
    4. Describe audience composition in terms of race, gender, ethnicity, age, full house or not. What was the audience’s response to the performance? Did you sense approval, disapproval, or some other response?
On what basis and at what specific points) in the performance did you sense this?
    5. Conclude with a reflection on if and how this performance changed the way you view theater.
