It is well understood that in early childhood education the child-centered, child initiated, and hands-on approach used in early education classrooms is paramount to create developmentally appropriate learning environments for young children. Some early childhood educators fear that this approach, which is so crucial to quality early education, may be in jeopardy as 4 year old children transition into the more academically geared classrooms of TK/Kindergarten.

What is your view? What, in your opinion are the possible pitfalls of trying to “bridge” from a hands-on developmental practice approach in early education to the more “academic” based foundation as indicated in the video clips?
Does this approach align with the guiding principles of the Preschool Learning Foundations and Framework? Why or why not? Explain
