    You will conduct an analysis of an organization that focuses on a particular phenomenon you learned in class this semester. The theory of phenomenon should be of the appropriate scope (i.e., not too broad or too narrow). You should do background research on the organization you choose then conduct a semi-structured interview of a subject matter expert to obtain detailed information for your write up. Your write-up should include three major parts. The first part is similar to a traditional term paper. It should be an overview of the theory you are covering and give enough information to demonstrate your understanding of the topic.
    The second two parts of the term paper should be very different from a term paper. For the second part, you are to interview a job incumbent and do a diagnosis of the organization regarding the theory you covered in part one. This means you assess the functioning of the organization around the theory you chose. In the third part, you are to take what you know of the theory and your assessment and make specific, actionable recommendations for improvement. The latter two parts of the paper should be written with the audience of a CEO or a VP of HR in mind, such that the layout and accessibility of the information should be geared toward a busy executive who doesn’t have time to read a dense report. This includes the effective use of tables and appendices.
