  • The Role of Social Responsibility in International Business: An Analysis of Philosophical Approaches to Ethics

Write a 375-500 word analysis in which you examine several philosophical approaches to ethics and the role of social responsibility in international business.
    Collapse All
    Introduction
An organization’s approach to business ethics is a critical aspect of international business operations. Managers must understand that success may hinge on an astute analysis of ethical business practices and how a particular philosophical approach to ethics can affect an organization’s ethical standing abroad.
    Ethical Business Managment
    Complete the following:
Use the Capella library or Internet to research the following philosophical approaches to ethics—sometimes referred to as “straw men.” Some ethics scholars consider these approaches as exemplifying the inherent challenges in determining guidelines for ethical decision making in a multi-national organization.
    The Friedman Doctrine.
    Cultural Relativism.
    The Righteous Moralist.
    The Naive Immoralist.
Write an analysis of the role that social responsibility plays in doing business internationally. To guide your analysis, consider the organizational structures and hierarchies of any organization involved in international business. In your analysis, address the following questions:
What effect does an organization’s ethical standing, or reputation, have on its business abroad?
Will any of these philosophical approaches to ethics work in the organization you have in mind? Why or why not?
How does a particular philosophical approach to ethics reflect on an organization and its managers?
Support your analysis with references from the Capella University Library, GlobalEDGE website, or other Internet sources.
    Additional Requirements
Use the following guidelines when writing your analysis:
    Length: 250–500 words.
Writing: Your analysis should be free of grammar and spelling errors, demonstrating strong written communication skills.
Format and References: Use proper APA-formatted references and in-text citations when identifying your sources.
    Competencies Measured
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the course competencies through the following assessment scoring guide criteria:
Competency 1: Analyze cultural communications that affect international business.
Determine how a particular philosophical approach to ethics reflects on an organization doing business internationally.
Competency 2: Evaluate patterns of global organizational structure and hierarchies.
Determine whether a particular philosophical approach to ethics is practicable in an organization doing business internationally.
Competency 3: Analyze the role of international business culture in the negotiation process.

  • Organizational Problem and Root Cause Analysis: A Christian Perspective

    NO PLAGIARISM
    STEP 1:
The purpose of this assignment is to identify an organizational problem to solve within your current workplace or industry and use an affinity diagram to brainstorm the root causes of the organizational problem and potential solutions for addressing it.
For this assignment, the first step is to identify an organizational problem to solve within your current workplace or industry. This is an opportunity for you to apply your learning while addressing a real-world problem. After you have identified a possible organizational problem, complete the “Brainstorming With an Affinity Diagram” resource to help you narrow and specify the root cause for the problem. Completing the affinity diagram will not only help you identify the root causes for the problem but also to determine the scope of influence you can have in reaching a potential solution. Keep in mind that this exercise is meant to identify a viable solution within the scope of influence in which you are directly involved and will ultimately allow you to be an agent of change.
Complete the affinity diagram action steps outlined in the “Brainstorming With an Affinity Diagram” resource, including the Five Whys Root Cause Analysis section. This can be done using online mind mapping resources like those found in the study materials, by using post-it notes, or through the use of Excel or Word documents and tables. When constructing the affinity diagram, be sure to complete all six steps described on the resource. You will reference these root causes again within your final business proposal in Topic 8.
    STEP 2:
The purpose of this assignment is to construct a problem statement from the organizational problem you have identified previously in your current workplace or industry.
Now that you have identified a potential problem, brainstormed the root causes, and determined how you might be able to influence change, you will construct a problem statement that can be used as the basis for an action research project. The problem statement must clearly articulate the single goal of the action research project and consider the influence of the organizational change that will occur.
Part of completing an action research project and enacting organizational change includes understanding how the problem is tied to the mission, vision, and values of all the involved stakeholders and how these will drive decision making. The change that is enacted should be done to enable positive progress for your fellow coworkers and the organization at large. When developing your problem statement, you will also be asked to address the organizational problem and the potential solutions through a Christian worldview perspective.

After viewing the video read the assigned project material, you must write a report to Mr. Harried covering the information requested below. For the report, you are using only the Spotify video and course materials.
Use the following center Bolded and left-justified Bolded headings and instructions to complete the project.
    Introduction

    Review the Paper
Read the paper to ensure all required elements are present.
The following are specific requirements that you will follow. Use the checklist to mark that you have followed each specific requirement.
    Checklist
    Specific Project Requirements
Proofread your paper. Ensure your topic heading matches those above.
Read and use the grading rubric while completing the report to ensure all requirements are met to lead to the highest possible grade.
Third-person writing is required. Third-person means that there are no words such as “I, me, my, we, or us” (first-person writing), nor is there use of “you or your” (second-person writing).  If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link:  http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person.
Contractions are not used in business writing.
Paraphrase instead of quoting to show a greater understanding of the topics. Paraphrasing means you do not use more than four consecutive words from a source document. Put a passage from a source document into your own words and attribute the passage to the source document.  Using more than four consecutive words from a source document would require direct quotation marks.
You are expected to use the provided weekly course materials to develop the analysis and support the reasoning. There should be a robust use of the course material. The material used from a source document must be cited and referenced.  A reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa. Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.
Use in-text citations and provide a reference list that contains the reference associated with each in-text citation.
You may not use books in completing this problem set unless they are part of the course material. Also, do not use a dictionary, Wikipedia or Investopedia, or similar sources.
Provide the page or paragraph number for in-text citation of quoted material. Since the eBook does not have page numbers, you must include the chapter title, section heading, and paragraph number.
For citations using a video, you must provide the minutes and second of the cited material.
