  • “Analyzing Production Efficiency in a Manufacturing Business: A Case Study of Lacks Tracks Cycles” Title: Lacks Tracks: Implementing Controls and Total Quality Management for Operational Efficiency

    Purpose
In this project, you will understand the importance of the control function in a manufacturing business. You will compare actual performance with desired production standards, measure progress toward company goals, and address deviations in performance through corrective action.
Outcome Met by Completing This Assignment
Develop measures and assess outcomes against plans and standards to improve organizational effectiveness.
How to Set Up the Paper
Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced using 12-point font.  The final product will be 5-6 pages in length, excluding the title and reference pages.
Create a title page with a title, date, course number and section, your name, and the instructor’s name.
    Scenario
The following chart displays the results of the first year’s production of the, Lacks Tracks Cycles, an electric-powered chopper-style motorcycle produced by Lacks Tracks Cycles to compete with Harley-Davidson’s Electra Glide. The metrics table below was created from data supplied by Lacks Tracks Cycles five (5) plants. The purpose of the table is to provide data for management to decide what controls and actions are needed to increase production efficiency.
You recently joined the Lacks Tracks Cycles’ headquarters staff as a quality assurance associate. Your manager has requested you to analyze the first year’s motorcycle production results.  This information will be used by management to evaluate and improve overall production efficiency.
Lacks Tracks Cycles is known for producing high-quality products at reasonable prices. They plan to compete against Harley’s top-end model by developing superior production efficiency that will allow them to price significantly below Harley Davidson’s Electra Glide model.
The chart below lists the desired production standards and the actual production metrics for each stage of the electric motorcycle’s manufacturing process that must be completed to determine the overall production efficiency at each of Lacks Tracks Cycles’ five (5) production facilities.
A comparison of the production standard to the actual production outcomes using all the relevant metrics allows management to determine which of its facilities is the most efficient producer of the electric motorcycle. This knowledge will help Lacks Tracks Cycles’ management team to determine what controls need to be put into place at their various production plants to match the production efficiency of their most efficient plant. More efficiency means higher production at lower per unit (cycle) costs.

Use only the BOLDED centered and left-justified headings to write your paper.

  • “The Science of Team Effectiveness in Space Exploration: An Analysis and Synthesis of Organizational Dynamics and Leadership Influence”

    Read the article below
The article is written by some of the researchers who are working on the NASA grants. As you read through the article, think about how the concepts the authors talk about relate to the content of the module (teams and conflict), as well as the content from the other modules.
Salas et al. (2015). Teams in space exploration: A new frontier for the science of team effectiveness. Current Directions in Psychological Science, 24(3), 200–207.
STEP 2: Create a discussion post
Your post should analyze, evaluate, and synthesize the materials (both the article and the materials thus far in the course). That is, what can we learn about organizations, leadership influence, motivation, goals, etc. based on your reading?
Analysis means that you should draw connections among ideas that are presented in the article as well as in class. Analysis does not mean pointing to part of the article and saying X is a good example of power.
Evaluate means that you should develop judgments about the value of the materials
Synthesize means that you should reorganize elements into a new pattern or structure) the materials – you should include both the article and the content from the modules throughout the course thus far
STEP 3: Reply to your classmates
Replies should focus on expanding on or clarify an important point, offering an additional argument to support a position taken in an answer, identify areas where you think the writer misunderstood a concept or applied it incorrectly, or disagreeing with a point or position made in an answer.
    All participation should be respectful.

  • “The Ethical Dilemma of a Small Business Owner: Choosing Between Dishonesty and Financial Struggle”

Imagine yourself owning a small business that repairs and refinishes antique furniture. You employ a staff of 15 and have been in business for about 10 years. During that time, you have built a reputation for yourself by only delivering the highest quality restorations. In the past year, you have fallen on hard times because of a slumping economy.
One Friday, your office manager comes to you and says, “We won’t have enough money to make payroll unless we deliver the following five jobs, but the production foreman just told me that they all have flaws.” You inspect the jobs and think you can pass the workmanship off to the customer if you lie and tell them some of the defects were there when the furniture was brought in. Your only other option is to not deliver the jobs and tell your employees you cannot pay them.
What do you do, why will you do it and what will be the outcome of your decision (how will it affect your employees, your business and your view of yourself)?
Rules: It’s an either-or; you can’t borrow from the bank again. You can’t borrow from your friends. You can’t steal the money. You can’t sell your car or do a “go fund me”. You have to make a choice from the two options presented and defend your decision. You will also need to discuss the fallout from your decision and tell how you will deal with it. This is not an easy decision but it is one that many small business owners face and is one that you may face in the future. I ask that you look into yourself before answering this quesiton and answer honestly. Your grade is based upon your level of self reflection and how in-depth you answer the question.
Citations are not needed for this
Please send me your 1.15 spaced, two full page response formatted in Microsoft Word.
