Title: Understanding Child Development: An In-Depth Look at the Theory of (insert theory here)
Write a paper that includes (4-5 pages, double spaced):
18 pts, An in-depth summary (2 pages)of the theory (at least two of the total pages). Who was the theorist? What was the context in which he developed his theory (time, place, influences, etc.?) What are the key components of the theory? Be comprehensive and detailed. Use at least three educational resources to gather information about this theory. Our textbook can be one of your sources(Understanding the Whole Child). Use in-text citations(5 pts).
8 pts, One or more criticisms of the theory. What elements of the theory have experts determined to be inaccurate or wrong? What are the shortcomings of this theory? Are there aspects of the theory (such as how research was conducted) that raise ethical issues? Fully explain the criticism(s) and ethical issue(s). Use in-text citations.
10 pts, TWO examples of how this theory compares and contrasts with your own experience and beliefs about how children develop. Relate the theory to your own life — it could be your childhood, a child you know, your own children. You do not have to agree or disagree with the theory, just relate it to your real life experiences. Be detailed and specific.
10 pts, TWO examples of how your interactions with children will be influenced or guided by this theory. Now that you know about this theory, how might you use it when you are with children? What parts of the theory will you use? In other words, how can you apply this theory in the real world? These should be specific applications of theory.
5 pts, A reference page in APA format (in addition to 4-5 pages). If you prefer to use MLA format, that’s fine.
Optional: Earn 3 BONUS POINTS: On a separate page, attach a graphic or chart (from one of your sources) that visually represents this theory.

Confronting Sin in Counseling: Challenges and Considerations in Secular and Christian Settings
McMinn discussed guidelines when confronting sin during a counseling experience and the lectures reviewed some factors as well. Your thread needs to be answered in two parts:
First, what would be the challenges (based on the lectures) of confronting clearly wrong behavior/ “sin” in the life of your client if you were working in a secular human services setting? Draw in concepts from the lecture to support your position. How might the approach from psychology make it difficult to confront clearly wrong behavior (worldview and perspective on attribution, for instance)?
Second, assume that you counseled in a human services setting in which you could integrate spirituality and a Christian worldview. Review the following brief “case” and answer the following questions:
Based on the lectures and McMinn, why can’t a sensitive Christian counselor just automatically and quickly confront obvious sin in the life of the counselee?
Of the cautions mentioned by the course materials, which ones do you think counselors most often overlook?
From what you learned from the lectures/McMinn, how would you best address the clearly sinful behavior of this client?
Case Study
Jim is a client in your counseling center, who you have seen for about 8 months. He has been cycled through several other counselors and one described him as a “basket case.” Jim has several children, each with a different mother. He casually mentions that he rarely sees them, and since he can’t hold down a job, he provides no financial support. Some of his children are now in foster care. He engages in unprotected sex on a weekly basis. Typical of many of your clients, Jim drinks heavily and abuses street drugs. He comes to counseling only because it is required for him to receive the tangible support services of your agency. You are at the point in your counseling with Jim that you’d like to “let him have it” but your counseling training did not include that as a valid counseling technique. There is obviously much more to Jim’s story but suffice it to say that he is repeating many of the behaviors he learned from his parents’ dysfunctional parenting.
While you are sharing opinion here, you must demonstrate informed opinion by supporting your points with references to the course materials. Utlize rubric posted as well -
Title: Exploring Cultural Identities and Empathy in Difficult Topics
Choose one of the following four topics to explore in this discussion: bereavement, death, and dying; job loss; sexual harassment or sexual assault; marital discord or family conflict. What cultural identities might be relevant for this topic? How could you ask a question about culture if a client brought up this topic?
In the second paragraph, discuss empathy as a means of bridging a value difference or conflict as explored by Hook et al. (2017). Include your faith in this discussion. Do not use subheadings. -

Discuss the inferences the authors made in these articles to reach their conclusion.
Make sure that you follow MLA Formatting

at least 500 words of total text for the entire paper (your sources do not count as text)
MLA formatting throughout
I chose child slave trafficking for my topic of discussion. -
