“The Anthropological Exploration of Human Origins, Diversity, and Change”
Anthropology is the study of our species, Homo sapiens. The discipline is focused on several related questions: How did we become human and who are our ancestors? Why do people look and act so differently throughout the world? What do we all have in common? How have we changed culturally and biologically over time? What factors influence the diversity of human beliefs and behaviors that we observe throughout the world?
Based on what you have learned in this class, how do anthropologists answer those questions?
You can relate what you have learned in this class to your personal experience, but the key is to show what you have learned in this class, not what you picked up on the internet.
Your capstone essay will be graded based on how good a job it does of showing that you learned the answers to the questions listed above in this class. Mechanics – punctuation, grammar, and so on – counts for nothing. You are better off using your own “voice” (as opposed to Qullbot or whatever) because your voice will show what you learned.
The capstone essay is worth 100 points, ten percent of your final grade. Your essay should be double spaced, and you should use normal fonts. Your essay will NOT be graded based on how long it is, but an essay of less than a page is unlikely to earn a high grade while many essays two and a half or three pages will. -
