  • Title: Remembering the Tulsa Race Massacre: Understanding its Historical Significance and the Path to Reconciliation

It has been just over 100 years since the Tulsa Race Massacre in Greenwood, Oklahoma, and for many years this tragic event was not discussed in the state’s curriculum. Now, it is a required component of Oklahoma’s history curriculum and has also taken on national and international historical significance. For example, HBO’s Watchmen includes scenes of the event and “Fire in Little Africa” is a hip-hop project commemorating Tulsa’s Greenwood neighborhood known as Black Wall Street.
In a three-page essay (roughly 750 words), please provide a brief overview of the Tulsa Race Massacre using the following instructions and prompts:
What else was going on during this time period? How do other social, cultural, political, or economic events of the era help us to understand the conditions that led to the Tulsa Race Massacre?
What did you learn from your research? Offer one specific example.
What is the historical significance of the Tulsa Race Massacre?
Offer at least one specific example of reconciliation and healing.

  • “The Evolution of a Superpower: Factors that Shaped the United States into a Nation of the People”

Over the course of this wonderful semester, we have traced how a tiny offshoot of European colonial expansion evolved into a superpower post World War 2 founded on the proposition that government is of the people, by the people and for the people.  Analyze how at least 4 factors such as philosophical movements, democratic government, revolution, nationalism, timely leadership, labor (slavery and indentured servitude, industrial working class) war, imperialism (domestic and foreign), and progressive legislation brought about the United States.
You are not limited to the factors listed above for your paper. Nor do you have to write about every single one. It maybe your argument that republican virtue or gender played a significant role.
For example, if you are looking at timely leadership you may write about Martin Luther King jr., Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, Eleanor Roosevelt, etc. The same for progressive legislation such as the Constitution, the Reconstruction amendments, women’s suffrage, the New Deal, etc.
Paper must be 3-4 pages. 12-point font. Paper must have a TITLE (do not title paper- Final Paper) and a citations page with at least 4 quotes from the textbook. I recommend using the textbook for most of your quotes.
DUE THE DAY OF THE FINAL EXAM -PRINTED OUT AND HANDED IN.
This was the prompt given to me by my professor. The Class is Development of the U.S. and its People. USSO for short.

I believe that the U.S. WAS justified in using the bomb. The details for the paper are all in the PDF that’s attached. I also need an annotated bibilography for this paper as well. MLA formatting is fine for the citations. If you have any questions, just let me know. Thank you so much! 🙂

  • “Empowering the Marginalized: Examining Historical Agency in the Fight Against Enslavement and Racism (1789-1848)”

Papers should be AT LEAST five pages in length, and MUST include references to AT LEAST four primary source documents (Maria Stewart bemoans the consequences of racism, 1832, Excerpt from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave…(1845), David Walker’s Appeal, and Garnets Call To Rebellion)and AT LEAST one scholarly monograph from class. (Richard S. Newman, The Transformation of American Abolitionism: Fighting Slavery in the Early Republic. Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 2002.)
One of the central themes of this course has been the historical agency of “marginalized” group: enslaved and free Black people, and the ways this agency contributed to meaningful changes in the nature of American society, economy, politics, and culture. In a well-organized, thesis-driven essay of at least five pages, students will: 1) identify AT LEAST TWO specific examples of historical agency by marginalized groups in the period 1789-1848; 2) explain the significance of these events/examples in their immediate historical contexts; and 3) evaluate the extent to which these examples of historical agency challenged/altered oppressive structures (enslavement/racism). Use quotes from each text to strengthen your central theme.
