  • Title: “Exploring the Effectiveness of Action Research in Improving Teaching Practices: A Proposal and Evaluation in the Context of a Primary School Placement” “The Impact of Action Research on Classroom Instruction: A Comprehensive Analysis” Introduction Action research is a systematic approach to improving teaching and learning through reflective practice and data-driven decision making. As an educator, I have conducted an action research project in my classroom

    Task A –
Proposal – Infographic (LO1, LO2) – Summative Assessment (No word limit required). To be started in Week 3
as a Formative Activity! However, the infographic should correspond to the required input described below.
You are to deliver a 10-minute presentation.
The presentation will be delivered in the week commencing 8th July and 16th July 2024!
Guidelines For Research Proposal and Infographic
A Research Proposal is a concise and coherent summary of your proposed research. Your research proposal should
set out the central issues or questions that you intend to address. It should outline the general area of study within
which your research falls, referring to the current state of knowledge and any recent debates on the topic, as well
as demonstrating the originality of your proposed research.
In the Research Proposal form, you should clearly indicate your research topic and the name of your chosen
organization where you do your placement.
To ensure that the topic and set aims and objectives are fit for purpose, the chosen topic will have to be approved by
your supervisor. As part of the approval process and as prelude to execution of the action research, you are to produce
a Research Proposal that clearly defines a research question or hypothesis supported by a literature review.
Strong action research is one with clear, well-focused and defined aims and objectives. A central skill in selecting a
research objective is the ability to select a suitable and focused research objective. You are encouraged as a teacher
trainee carrying out research to investigate and discuss a variety of topics related to your specialist area to generate
ideas for a good research objective.
The research proposal should evidence sources of literature and the proposed methodologies to be used as well as
LO1 Understand the purpose and nature of action research.
LO2 Be able to initiate action research.

the ethical considerations for the research. The following are key considerations for the development of the
    research proposal:
    • You are required to define your research problem or question. This can be stated as a research
question, objective, or hypothesis. Identify appropriate aims and objectives.
    • Provide a literature review giving the background and conceptualization of your proposed area of study.
This would provide existing knowledge and benchmarks by which your data can be judged.
    • Consider and define your research methodology and research process. You are required to explain the
purpose of action research and analyse the features of the action research process. You should also analyse
the implications of a model of action research (AC 1.1, 1.2, 1.3).
    • Create a clear plan of intervention strategy and justify the choice of the intervention. Explain how ethical
and political considerations and issues of confidentiality will be observed in practice and implement a clear
    intervention strategy (AC 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5).
    Task B – Evaluating Account – (LO3, LO4, LO5, LO6) – Summative (2500 words)
    Evaluating Account
This is an academic Evaluating Account. The overall word limit is 2500 (characters with spaces), +/- 10 %. This should
be written in a concise, formal, academic style using Pearson Harvard referencing system. A reference list should be
provided. In order to identify current issues within your practice or chosen organisation, prepare a research proposal
    that includes the following:
    • From selected literature, draw on a relating area of practice for action research and justify own choice of
    methods selected.
    • Collect, organize and critically analyze data relating to an area of practice for action research.
    • Make an evaluation of methods for action research by collecting qualitative data which will enable you to
review ways in which collected data may be analyzed (AC 3.1, 3.2, 3.3).
    • Present data collected from action research and draw conclusions based on your findings (AC 4.1, 4.2, 4.3,
    4.4, 4.5, 4.6).
