  • Interplay of Social and Psychological Factors in a Post-Explosion Disaster and the Role of Recovery Teams

Respond to a peer’s post. Here is the orginal topic: For this assignment, consider that a large explosion has occurred in an urban area encompassing commercial and residential buildings and a transit hub. Casualties are light given the densely populated area, but after 24 hours the authorities have still not concluded the cause of the explosion. Failure of infrastructure and a terrorist attack are significant possibilities, but uncertainty is high and rumors persist. In your post describe how social and psychological factors interrelate with this disaster and its victims and how recovery teams might help the population cope.

    2. What interventions can you apply to help meet the ratio of good calories/empty calories

  • Title: Understanding Trauma and Attachment in Rabbit Hole: A Reaction Paper

The purpose of the reaction papers (indeed, all your written assignments) is for you to demonstrate that you understand and can apply the concepts we are learning about in this class. I am looking for you to find specific examples of topics covered in the book/film and how and why they illustrate a particular concept. I am NOT looking for a detailed retelling of the story; rather pick and choose scenes and characters’ behaviors that are relevant to the topics covered in the syllabus. For example, given that we’ve covered the role of disorganized attachment as a type of trauma and understand it as a precursor to pathological dissociation, you might illustrate this process at work in a character. Or you might talk about a particular character’s resilience to trauma and explain the underlying psychological processes. You could talk about different types of trauma and why they impact a character in the way that they do. Another option might be to discuss the difference between the DSM’s view of PTSD and Van der Kolk’s idea of “developmental trauma”. There are numerous other concepts that you might discuss and you might choose to address biological and social issues as they impact a character as well.
These are just a few examples. Two or three of these concepts, as well as an awareness of the bio/psycho/social model underlying this course, will put you in the ballpark of an A.
I am also, however, looking for clear writing with correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. If you have trouble with this, you can go to The Writing Center for help. Proofread your work.
Finally, there is room for your original creative response and emotional reactions to the film/book and students often relate a film or book to their own experience or help me see something familiar in a novel way. But this should be in addition to, not instead of, your ability to demonstrate that you are keeping up with the reading and grasping major concepts and theories. Since we don’t have any exams in this class, your written work is an important way for me to evaluate your progress.
Papers should be about three pages, double spaced, 12 point font, with APA style citations in the body of the paper and an APA style reference page at the end. APA style beyond this is not required for the reaction paper, but full APA style is required for your final research papers.
You always have the option of re-doing an assignment for a higher grade or picking an additional book or film for extra credit.
If you are still unclear as to how to proceed, please get in touch with me and we can speak individually.
You’re using the exact same sources you used for the paper on Precious . Would have been better use something else. Also – why are you’re references for Hagman in caps? And again, the you cite an author you have to put the year of the publication in parentheses after their name and the complete reference In your reference section.
I would have liked to see a more in depth understanding of how attachment theory relates to the characters in Rabbit Hole, as well as bringing in others we have studied, like Judith Herman Trauma and dissociation or Van der Kolk.

  • “Investigating the Role of Autophagy in Cellular Stress Responses and Neurodegenerative Diseases: An In Vitro and In Vivo Study Design”

MethodologyStudy DesignThis study will utilize both in vitro and in vivo models to investigate the role of autophagy in cellular stress responses and neurodegenerative diseases. In Vitro StudiesCell Culture: Human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells and primary neuronal cultures will be used.Induction of Stress: Cells will be exposed to various stress conditions, including oxidative stress (hydrogen peroxide), nutrient deprivation, and hypoxia.Autophagy Assays: Autophagy will be monitored using techniques such as LC3 immunoblotting, fluorescence microscopy of GFP-LC3, and quantification of autophagic flux using inhibitors like bafilomycin A1.Protein Aggregation: Assessment of protein aggregates (beta-amyloid, tau, alpha-synuclein, and mutant huntingtin) through immunocytochemistry and Western blotting.Cell Viability: MTT and LDH assays will be performed to assess cell viability under stress conditions. In Vivo StudiesAnimal Models: Transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s (APP/PS1), Parkinson’s (alpha-synuclein overexpression), and Huntington’s disease (R6/2 mice) will be used.Induction of Autophagy: Pharmacological agents (e.g., rapamycin) and genetic tools (e.g., ATG5/7 knockdown/knockout) will be employed to modulate autophagy.Behavioral Tests: Cognitive and motor functions will be evaluated using tests such as the Morris water maze, rotarod, and open field test.Histological Analysis: Brain sections will be examined for protein aggregates and neurodegeneration markers using immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy.Biochemical Assays: Brain tissues will be analyzed for autophagy markers (LC3, p62), inflammatory cytokines, and oxidative stress markers.Data AnalysisStatistical Analysis: Data will be analyzed using appropriate statistical methods (e.g., ANOVA, t-tests) to determine significance.Software Tools: ImageJ for image analysis, GraphPad Prism for statistical analysis, and other relevant bioinformatics tools for data interpretation.

  • “Creating a Collaborative Classroom: The Value of Summer Reading and Home-School Connections”

Creating a classroom based on collaboration between teachers, students, and families is one way to engage students in reading activities in and away from the classroom. It also offers an opportunity to share best practices for reading across disciplines and from a variety of experts.
Conduct research to obtain evidence about the value of creating home-school connections with families, including the value of summer reading programs and student reading activities in preparing students for success in completing the requirements of the next grade level and being able to apply reading skills in real-world settings. In a 250-500 word rationale, address the following:
Summarize research-based evidence from 2-3 sources about the value of summer reading including how it prepares students for the next grade level and real-world activities for students of all reading levels.
Explain how summer reading can serve to create home-school connections for families.
Create a 250-500 word letter families focused on summer reading activities. The letter should address the following:
Provide research-based evidence why summer reading is valuable to students, regardless of whether they are reluctant readers, grade level readers, or excel in reading/be considered advanced.
Provide goals for students to achieve as part of their summer reading program.
Provide a list of summer reading suggestions for students who are reluctant readers, grade level readers, and excel in reading/be considered advanced.
Support the assignment with a minimum of three scholarly resources.
Submit the rationale and letter as a single deliverable.
